2. Introduction
What is a rest area?
A designated area for people to take a break, relax
and chill. It is a public area for everybody to utilize.
Why rest area is important in Taylor’s?
There’s a lot of resting area in Taylor’s University
Lakeside Campus, but there is an empty space
around the taxi waiting area, which creates a
possibility to be a resting area. Most people are
standing while waiting for a taxi arrive and it could be
tiring, so a resting area is a great idea. Having a rest
area enable people to have a great waiting
experience.

Our site is located at the empty space where people
wait for taxi (beside food court). People are forced to
stand and wait for the taxi without a seat. Therefore,
we select this site to develop as a rest area.
5. Suggestion
To develop / add :
-Benches
For people to take a rest while waiting for a taxi. It
can be a normal resting place since it is breezy over
there.
-Drinking water fountain
6. A drinkable water fountain placed at the middle of
the area for people around to quench their thirst.
-Vending machines
For people to enjoy a small snack and drinks. Other
than that, there is an ice cream vending machine
provided. It is very helpful especially during the hot
day.
-Newspaper reading corner
Free newspaper for everyone to read and rest at the
seat provided.
7. -Music corner
Enjoy some calm and peaceful music at our music
corner for free. Headphones are locked so they can’t
be stolen.
-Plants
Plants provide a cooler environment for people to
rest and relax.
10. Reflection
Throughout the research, we learned that how
beneficial and useful having a rest area would be.
Everyone needs some rest, short rest, long rest they’re
all still resting.
We propose to use the empty space just by the taxi
wait area to create a resting area. Just imagine
having to wait for your taxi with the comfort of the
benches, as we know sitting is definitely more relaxing
than standing. But this rest area would not just be
seats or benches, we want to make it attractive, so
people would enjoy it more. By adding some of the
people’s favorites like snacks and drinks while resting.
We also added some greenery in the site to give it a
cool and fresh feel. One of our main highlights would
be the drinkable drinking fountain.
Our aim is not just for the people waiting for the taxi
to use it, whilst it’s for everyone to enjoy and relax in
this area.
