Maite Fernández is an English teacher at INS Ermengol IV, a small village school near Lleida, Spain. She is taking an online course to learn new technologies that can motivate her students in the classroom, as the world of technology advances rapidly. While she uses some technologies, the school has limitations. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with family, traveling, reading, sports, birdwatching and photography, though balancing work, family and hobbies can be difficult.

1. Hi everybody!
My name's Maite Fernández and I'm teaching English in ESO and batxillerat in INS Ermengol IV
in Bellcaire d'Urgell, which is a small village at less than 30 km from Lleida city.
I'm in this course because I'm interested in learning new things related to new technologies
and the different possibilities that they may offer with my students in my classrooms. For them,
using technologies in the class is more motivating, but this world of technology advances so
fast that, although it is pretty difficult, I try to be “updated” with the different techniques,
strategies, resources, etc. Also, it is quite rewarding and satisfying to (digitally) meet new
colleagues and share with them.
I use some technologies in my classes, but we are a bit limited in our school. I don't teach
AICLE.
In my free time, I enjoy being with my family and travelling with them. I also like reading,
practising sport, birdwatching (on of my favourite birds is the swallow, I'd love to fly like it!),
taking photos, but all these are sometimes a bit difficult to combine with job and family!
