The city collects recycled materials through blue recycling containers for glass, paper, plastic and metal. Each year the city collects around 2300 tons of recycled materials through 3 special trucks. The city also has a small electric apparatus recycling program that collects 15-17 tons annually. The city works with the local university on programs for recycling biological waste and producing bioethanol from waste. There is an ongoing effort in schools to educate children about recycling.

 Greece is the last country of Europe that
recycles at the source.
 The process is simple: In blue specialized
recycling containers, people throw:
 glass, paper, plastic and metal.

3.  After the gathering of the containers follows
the separation of the materials by hand.
 In our city 2300 tons of recycled materials are

 We have also recycling program for all
electric apparatus with annual amount of 15-
17 tons, an amount very small when
compared to other recycled materials.

4.  Our city in cooperation with the Metsovion
University of Technology, maintains a program
for containers used for drying biological waste,
with use of zero energy.
 Recently a new program was approved again
with the cooperation of the University with a
purpose of producity bioethanol.
 Bioethanol: is a fuel with insignificant
contamination of the environment. 4
