Intertextuality in my
Music Video
Ellis Ashley
• I have included intertextuality
with the inspiration of split
screen from EDEN ‘start//end’
• There are some shots and
scenes which the audience
may recognise as being
similar to that of EDEN’s
‘start//end’ music video.
• The use of close up of the
artist fulfils Andrew Goodwins
theory of music videos and is
typical in most popular/dance
music videos.
• I have also used LED lights to
create the colour effects and
this can be seen as similar to
the fairy lights used in Ariana
Grande’s video ‘no tears left to
cry’.
• In one shot, there is an overlay
of lights which looks similar to
her shot.
• Some shots and locations in
my music video can be
recognised by the audience as
using inspiration from Ariana
Grande’s music video, also
with a similar colour palette.
• The camera movement of
rotation can also be seen in
my own music video which is
intertextuality.
• In my music video, I have
adhered to Andrew Goodwin’s
music video theory of notions
of looking, which include
models looking into mirrors.
