INTRODUCTION
• A match is a tool for starting a fire. modern
matches are made of small wooden sticks or
stiff paper.
• The first successful friction match was invented
in 1826 by English chemist John Walker.
• Phosphorus is a chemical element with symbol P
and atomic number 15.
INDUSTRY PROFILE
• Initially India was importing matches from
Sweden and Japan in the period of 1905-1915
• locally made followed by the Japanese pattern
introduced in Calcutta 1917.
• The first safety match was produced in India, in
the year 1934 form we know today.

• I was quite prepared to blend in the department that
carried huge responsibilities. And this internship in
Human Resource Management Department of The
President Match Company has honed by
understanding of hr in practice. It gave me an
important exposure and an insider look of such a big
organization. I could use my theoretical knowledge
of Hr in real practice while participating in many
discussions. I was actively involved in the
department happenings where I shared my
knowledge and views regarding the performance in
