This document discusses networks and the internet. It defines a network as connecting two or more computers to share resources. There are different types of networks including LAN, MAN, and WAN. It also describes transmission modes as the direction of information flow, including simplex, half duplex, and full duplex. The internet is defined as a network of networks that connects computers worldwide for email, files, and other resources. A brief history of the internet is provided, along with definitions of the world wide web and common internet connections like dial-up, cable, and satellite. Advantages and disadvantages of the internet are listed in a few bullet points.

4. A network consists of two or more computers that
are linked in order to share resources (such as printers
and CDs), exchange files, or allow electronic
communication
5. LAN (Local Area Network)
MAN(Metropolitan Area Network)
WAN(Wide Area Network)

9. • The term transmission mode defines the
direction of flow of information between two
communication devices
i.e it tell the direction of signal flow between two
devices
15. A network of networks, joining many
government, university and private computers

online in 1969 under a contract let by the
renamed Advanced Research Projects Agency
(ARPA) which initially connected four major
computers at universities in the southwestern US
(UCLA , Stanford Research Institute, UCSB, and the
University of Utah).
CHARLEY CLINE was the first man who use
ARPANET first time on Oct 29 , 1969.
17. DIAL UP CONNECTIONS
Dial-up connections are the most common type of
Internet connection available from ISPs. They are also
the slowest and usually less cost A dial-up connection
allows us to connect the Internet through a local server
using a Standard 56k modem.
18. CABLE CONNECTIONS
One of the best types of internet connection available
to the home user is cable connection, they offer very
fast speed and reliable connections with a fixed
monthly fee.
Cable Modem Broadband connection through an
ordinary coax cable through your digital cable provider
is the easiest and most common way to connect to the
Internet at high speeds.
19. SATELLITES
This type of connection is most expensive alternative
for getting a high-speed connection to the Internet. If
user lives in a rural area or a spot where other options
are not available, then this is probably users only hope
for a high-speed connection. These come in two
varieties, 1-way and 2-way. One-way satellites are like
television receivers: they only accept signals.

21. WWW stands for World Wide Web
Developed in 1992,'the World Wide Web (www) is a
means to exchange information on the internet . It
uses a program known as a browser.
22. WWW is data , text or anything which we see on the
internet is WWW.
Internet is hardware like cables ,monitor, satellite,

23. There are many different applications of the internet
used commonly across the world. The most common
names are the JAVA, JAVA script and the Flash.
The flash is required for the animated videos and
pictures
24.
25. The internet became a network of networks constantly
expanding and accelerating in all dimensions.
Now at least 10 million Web pages are added to net
everyday.
Web pages are not invented until Tim Berners- Lee
came along in 1989.But in little over 17 years the
number of Web pages has zoomed to nearly 60 billion
26. As the internet become
part of us so let’s discuss
its advantages but we
not discuss at length.
It provide us fast and
easy communication.
Its cheap.
The main advantage of
internet is its quickness
to find the result what
we search .
27. It is not “Truthful” .
Acquire the wrong information.
No sensible resources and knowledge.
28. ONLINE SHOPPING- Buy items from internet
without leaving your home using online shopping
sites.
WATCHING VIDEOS-We can watch video from
