The document provides an overview of the internet, components of the internet, the world wide web, Google Workspace, and internet safety. It defines the internet as a global network of billions of computers and devices. It describes key components of the internet like modems, routers, firewalls, and wireless access points. It then explains what the world wide web is and how it functions using protocols like HTTP. It provides a brief history and introduces HTML for creating webpages. It also summarizes Google Workspace tools for communication, collaboration, and productivity. Finally, it outlines some internet safety best practices.
The Internet is a global network of billions of computers and other electronic devices. With the Internet, it's possible to access almost any information, communicate with anyone else in the world, and do much more. You can do all of this by connecting a computer to the Internet, which is also called going online. Lets learn some basic things about the internet.
To access and use the internet, you typically need a few basic components and follow some straightforward steps. Here's a general guide:
Components Needed:
Device: You'll need a device capable of connecting to the internet, such as a computer, laptop, smartphone, tablet, or a smart device.
Internet Connection:
Wi-Fi: If using a wireless device, make sure you're in range of a Wi-Fi network. Connect by selecting the appropriate network and entering the password if required.
Ethernet: For wired connections, connect your device to an available Ethernet port using an Ethernet cable.
Internet Service Provider (ISP):
Subscribe to an internet service through an ISP. This may involve setting up an account, choosing a plan, and installing necessary equipment like a modem or router.

This is a presentation by Dada Robert in a Your Skill Boost masterclass organised by the Excellence Foundation for South Sudan (EFSS) on Saturday, the 25th and Sunday, the 26th of May 2024.
He discussed the concept of quality improvement, emphasizing its applicability to various aspects of life, including personal, project, and program improvements. He defined quality as doing the right thing at the right time in the right way to achieve the best possible results and discussed the concept of the "gap" between what we know and what we do, and how this gap represents the areas we need to improve. He explained the scientific approach to quality improvement, which involves systematic performance analysis, testing and learning, and implementing change ideas. He also highlighted the importance of client focus and a team approach to quality improvement.
Operation “Blue Star” is the only event in the history of Independent India where the state went into war with its own people. Even after about 40 years it is not clear if it was culmination of states anger over people of the region, a political game of power or start of dictatorial chapter in the democratic setup.
The people of Punjab felt alienated from main stream due to denial of their just demands during a long democratic struggle since independence. As it happen all over the word, it led to militant struggle with great loss of lives of military, police and civilian personnel. Killing of Indira Gandhi and massacre of innocent Sikhs in Delhi and other India cities was also associated with this movement.

9. Components of Internet
Is a hardware device.
It converts digital signals into
analog signals that are suitable
for sending over a telephone line.
A phone line connects to the back
of RJ-11 DSL modem, and a Cat 5
(ethernet) cable serves to connect
the modem to a router or
computer.
DSL Modem
10. Components of Internet
Is a hardware device.
Also known as a DSL splitter or
micro filter.
It is a low-pass filter installed
between an analog device and a
plain old telephone service (POTS)
It filters DSL signals from
telephone signals to access the
Internet
DSL Filter
11. Components of Internet
It is designed to receive, analyze
and forward data packets
between computer networks.
It manages the traffic between
networks by sending data packets
to IP address.
It also allows multiple digital
devices to be connected to the
same internet connection.
Router
12. Components of Internet
Is a network securing device or
system that prevents unwanted
users and dangerous elements
from accessing the network.
To use a firewall, you have to install
it between a private network or the
internet, and all the data
communication between these two
passes through the firewall.
Firewalls

active hub, network hub, repeater
hub or multiport repeater.
It is used to connect multiple
Ethernet devices together that
have multiple input/output (I/O)
ports.
Network Hub
15. Components of Internet
A networking hardware device
that connect other Wi-Fi devices
to a wired network.
Simply put, a wireless access
point (WAP) is a node configure
in a local area network (LAN) that
allows wireless-enabled devices
and wired networks to connect via
wireless means, including Wi-Fi or
bluetooth.
