This document discusses using a triangular lattice electromagnetic bandgap (EBG) structure in the ground plane of a 2x2 triangular microstrip patch antenna array to improve its bandwidth. The EBG structure provides better antenna gain and a 110% increase in bandwidth compared to the antenna array without EBG.
