2.  The International covenant on Economic, social & cultural Rights is a
multilateral treaty.
 It’s adopted by the United Nations General Assembly on 16 December 1966,
and came in force from 3 January 1976.
 The Covenant is monitored by the UN Committee on Economic, social &
Cultural Rights.
 As of September 2018, the Covenant has 169 parties. further four countries,
including the United States, have signed but not ratified the Covenant.

3.  The International Covenant on Economic, Social, & Cultural Rights
consisted of 31 Articles which are divided in 5 parts.
 These rights are aimed to fulfilling certain material needs such as, food,
water, shelter an providing access to cultural life of the community.
 ICESCR refers to the need to create conditions “where everyone may enjoy”
the full range of human rights.

4. Part 1
Article 1 :
 People have right of self determination.
 All people may freely dispose there natural wealth & resources without
prejudice.
 The state parties shall promote the realization of the right of self determination
and shall respect that right , in conformity with the provision s of the Charter of
the United Nations.

 Right to strike
 Right to trade Union
 Right to social security
 Right to physical & mental health

6.  Right to protection of motherhood & childhood
 Right to marriage & family
 Right to maternity benefit
 Right to education
 Right to adequate food, clothing, housing & minimum standard of living
 Right to cultural life
