This document summarizes a new wavelet-based method for determining mode shapes from experimental data. The method uses a previously proposed wavelet technique to identify natural frequencies and damping ratios. It then obtains mode shapes from the time signals and extracted natural frequencies using wavelet transforms. The method is applied to a steel beam excited by an impact force. The extracted mode shapes are not scaled initially, so a mass change method is used to scale the mode shapes.
