2. History of the
festival
Back in 2014 Sunderland council and Anne tye (festival director)
announced the making of a short film festival in Sunderland and
shared that the first event would take places the next year 2015.
Coming not so long after Sunderland became the first and only non-
capital city to create a partnership with Washington DC in 2006 ,the
cities have a working friendship that allows them to develop,
economies , educational and cultural alliins which provides
opportunities.
With in this time the yearly DC short film
festival , LED Jon Gann Has gone for strength to
strength and has one of the most respected
festival in all the united statues and the world .
Over many years they have been a lot of
discussions with Jon extremising with the idea
of having a festival in Sunderland.
Because of the genre
finessing of the DC
commission on Thae
arts and huminites, Jon
worked with festival
organisers in the
Sunderland to support
the development of the
festival.
3. Chris j Allan
• Chris j Allan is a film practitioner form
south shields. Since 2020 he has directed the
Sunderland short film festival . Chris has a
dedication to showing the best film maker for
not just the local Regan but the world for
well-known to unknows to emerging
creatives.
• Under his guides the festival has gained
much including BIFA qualifying statues and
entering the top 100 rated films festivals on
film way
