This document discusses developing intercultural communicative competence among English language learners through literary texts. It presents an overview of intercultural communicative competence and the role of literature in enhancing learners' cultural understanding and ability to communicate across cultures. The study aims to understand how English learners develop intercultural skills through different literary works and examines the place of literary texts in English textbooks. Through interviews with participants, it finds that literary texts help learners understand other cultural contexts and reduce miscommunication. However, some texts present difficulties due to unfamiliar vocabulary. The document concludes that stories, poems, novels and other works expose learners to multicultural perspectives when integrated into language classrooms.
