Instructions for Instructions
Learning Goals
Write a set of instructions
Appropriately adapt tone, style, and content depending on audience, purpose and genre
Write clearly and concisely, with grammar and usage appropriate to the rhetorical situation.
Writing Instructions
We use instructions every day, when we put together a piece of furniture from Ikea or follow a recipe. Instructions spell out the steps required to complete a task. Instructions need to be clear and easy for the audience to follow.
Using the outline on p. 455, write instructions for a task that requires a minimum of 5 major steps.
The Audience
Address a general audience. A general audience means those without specialized knowledge. For example, if you are a nursing major, instructions for a medical procedure would not be for a general audience.
Outline for Instructions
Components to include:
1. Introduction
Overview
Materials , equipment
Working definitions
2. Required Steps
A minimum of 5 numbered steps
Steps should begin with an action verb.
(Examples: Stir, measure)
Insert warnings, cautions and notes as needed.
Visuals
Include all necessary visuals (photos or graphics).
Number your visuals. Ex: fig. 1, fig 2.
Cite your visual in Reference list
Cite all sources!!! If you are using screen shots or your own pictures, be sure to cite them so there is no confusion.
Instructions for a Recipe
If you are giving instructions for a recipe that you did not create, be very clear about where you got the recipe. You should include that information in the Overview.
For example, “This recipe has been adapted from the Pioneer Woman.com.” You don’t want your reader to think you wrote the recipe. Remember fair use!!!!
Tips for Writing Instructions
Use informative headings.
Arrange all steps in a numbered list.
Make warning, caution and danger notices highly visible.
Divide the task into steps and substeps.
Keep the visual and the step close together.
Keep it simple. Instructions should be clear and concise.
Start instructions with command verbs.
Use the Checklist
After writing your instructions, review the Checklist on p.468.
Make sure your instructions follow the content, organization, style and page design guidelines.
Do Not!!!
Do not write instructions for changing oil or a tire.
DO NOT copy your instructions from another source. This will result in a grade of 0.

Figures 4.4 and 4.5 display a schematic and photograph of the 45.72 cm diameter test cylinder,
respectively. The steel test cylinder had an inside diameter equal to 45.72 cm with a wall thickness
equal to 2.54 cm. The string potentiometer was attached to the top of the steel cap. The hydraulic piston
was applied to the load cell using a fixed displacement control rate equal to approximately 3.81 cm/min,
identical to the previous configuration. The valve setting on the hydraulic piston necessary to maintain
this rate was determined using an iterative process. The load cell was installed between the top of the
steel cap and the load actuator, which had a 25.4 cm stroke. The two 15.24 cm thick steel caps displayed
in Figure 4.4 were utilized to help the material deform uniformly.

For our first project you’ll have to write, you guessed it, all ab.docxrhetttrevannion
For our first project you’ll have to write, you guessed it, all about yourself. It’ll be divided in 5 parts and it must be written COMPLETELY in Spanish. I don’t need complicated super long sentences, your phrases can be short and simple, but they must be in Spanish. You’ll upload a Word document or a PowerPoint presentation. If you decide to include videos (strongly encouraged) you can upload the files separately or embed the links on the document or presentation. Have fun!
Parte 1. Presentación
In this part you’ll introduce yourself. You’ll write your name, your age, where you’re from, what you do, your favorite color and something funny or interesting about yourself. You can include pictures, drawings, videos or anything else you like.
Parte 2. Collage
You’ll make a collage with at least 15 pictures of things that you like or that you think describe you. You can do this electronically, by downloading some pictures online and pasting them together, or old school style, cutting up some magazines and gluing the images to cardboard or paper and then taking a picture of it. Be as creative as you want.
Part 3. Frases
Select 10 images that you used for the collage and write one full sentence about each of them using AR verbs. You can use any subject pronoun that you want.
Choose another 5 images from your collage and write one full sentence about each of them using the verb GUSTAR.
Parte 4. Tu familia
For this part you’ll choose 5 members of your family, write a sentence about each one and then write a short paragraph about things you like to do together. You can include pictures, drawings, videos or anything else you like.
Parte 5. Anuncio
Choose one activity, product or artist that you like and find an ad for it in Spanish. It can be a magazine or online ad, a commercial, a video, or any other type of ad. Share it and write a short paragraph describing it, or reenact it. If you choose to reenact it you can take a similar picture to the one in the ad or make a short video, it doesn't have to be professional.
You can be as creative and use as many different elements as you want. It's a great opportunity to show your personality!
Do not use Google Translate or any other translation website. It’s totally valid, and even encouraged, to look up certain words if you don’t know them, but just words, not full phrases. Like we talked about on the first module, if you just translate your work using a translation website (it’s obvious when you do), you’ll get a 0 on the assignment.
You’ll have two weeks to turn in your first Project. This is a very important assignment because it’s worth 10 points. You have to be very careful with grammar on this one. I usually don’t care that much about proper grammar in beginners’ classes cause I want you all to feel comfortable with the language first, but since this is a big part of your grade and you’ll have two weeks to complete it, I’ll be grading grammar too. I expect you to use everything we've le.

Assistance needed with SQL commands
I need assistance with the query commands assigned to an assignment. I have the databases properly created and do not need assistance with the commands associated with creating the databases. Here is the complete assignment. I have attached the database information.
The structure of the movies database is as follows:
Director (
DIRNUB
, DIRNAME, DIRBORN, YR-DIRDIED)
STAR (
STARNUB
, STARNAME, BIRTHPLACE, STARBORN, YR-STARDIED)
MOVIE (
MVNUB
, MVTITLE, YRMDE, MVTYPE, CRIT, MPAA, NOMINATIONS, AWRD,
DIRNUB
)
MOVSTAR (
MVNUB
,
STARNUB
, AMTPAID)
MEMBER (
MMBNUB
, MMBNAME, MMBADD, MMBCITY, MMBST, NUMRENT, BONUS, JOINDATE)
TAPE (
TAPENUM,
MVNUB, PURDATE, TMSRNT,
MMBNUB
)
Create Video Store database as discussed in the class. Make sure to correct column widths/types before creating tables. Use SQL to form queries to produce the following reports
:
** List the names and numbers of directors whose names begin with the alphabet ‘K’.
List the tape no, movie title, and the membership number and name of members, who are currently borrowing tapes numbered below 20. Arrange the report in descending order by tape number.
List the names and respective numbers of stars and directors who have worked together.
** List the tape numbers for movies of movie type: ‘HORROR’.
List the name of the director who has received the maximum number of total awards considering all his/her movies: AWRD.
** List the names of all members who have not borrowed any movie currently.
List the movie type and number of tapes for each type in the database.
** For each movie list total how many times it has been rented: TMSRNT.
Report the total times rented (TMSRNT) for each movie type.
The database administrator discovers that the name of director whose number is 7 in the database should be spelt as ‘JOHNNY FORD’. Make corrections to the data.
Delete the movie number 14 and all its tapes. Print both tables to verify.
List all tape numbers and their movie titles, and indicate the member number and member name if the tape is currently rented out.
13. List all tape numbers, and also indicate the member’s city if a tape is currently rented out by a member.
14. Who is the youngest director?
How many movies did he/she direct?
15. Grant access to me (joshi) to your movstar table for select and update.
16. Create a unique index on movstar table.
17. For each movie type list the average age of movies given the current year is 2011.
18. ** Create a view MEMB_TAPES that includes the currently rented movies and the members who are renting them, include movie type.
19. ** Use the view MEMB_TAPES to find all currently rented “COMEDY” type movies and members who are renting them.
20. ** List all tape numbers, along with movie name and member name if rented out (leave member name blank if not rented out).

Assignment: Agenda Comparison Grid and Fact Sheet or Talking Points Brief
It may seem to you that healthcare has been a national topic of debate among political leaders for as long as you can remember.
Healthcare has been a policy item and a topic of debate not only in recent times but as far back as the administration of the second U.S. president, John Adams. In 1798, Adams signed legislation requiring that 20 cents per month of a sailor’s paycheck be set aside for covering their medical bills. This represented the first major piece of U.S. healthcare legislation, and the topic of healthcare has been woven into presidential agendas and political debate ever since.
As a healthcare professional, you may be called upon to provide expertise, guidance and/or opinions on healthcare matters as they are debated for inclusion into new policy. You may also be involved in planning new organizational policy and responses to changes in legislation. For all of these reasons you should be prepared to speak to national healthcare issues making the news.
In this Assignment, you will analyze recent presidential healthcare agendas. You also will prepare a fact sheet to communicate the importance of a healthcare issue and the impact on this issue of recent or proposed policy.
To Prepare:
Review the agenda priorities of the
current/sitting U.S. president and the two previous presidential administrations.
Select an issue related to healthcare that was addressed by each of the last three U.S. presidential administrations.
Reflect on the focus of their respective agendas, including the allocation of financial resources for addressing the healthcare issue you selected.
Consider how you would communicate the importance of a healthcare issue to a legislator/policymaker or a member of their staff for inclusion on an agenda.

Per Fennelly (2017-182), “Why do Employees steal?” employee stealing is a multiple part operation.
Most organizations are often intolerant and impatient to verify employee’s identity and background and establish trust due to the time-consuming nature of daily assignments.
Most organizations often ignore to establish and adopt on-board ecological waste management action plans to deal with discarded materials, shredded left-over documents and magnetic media and placing fragments in isolated location.
Nonetheless, organizations must learn to support and train employers who are assigned to work and protect the organization data center, facilities and resources. Large segments of any organizations’ facility managers are often none-aggressive and choose short cuts in discharging assigned services by posting passwords on the screen and leaving confidential documents lying out on the table and uploading same document to associates, husbands, loved ones and competitors. Most authorized users within the organization are often the puniest linkage in any security operation.

Web 2.0 is currently changing what it means to be an information literate person or community…. The erosion did not begin with Web 2.0 but had started considerably earlier and became evident with the first web document without an identifiable author or indication of origin. Generally, this erosion comes naturally with the advancement towards electronic environments. In the era of print culture the information context was based on textual permanence, unity and identifiable authorship, and was therefore stable. The appearance of Web 1.0 has already undermined .

Assignment Name:
Unit 2 Discussion Board
Deliverable Length:
150-500 words (not including references) 2 Peer Responses
Details:
The Discussion Board (DB) is part of the core of online learning. Classroom discussion in an online environment requires the active participation of students and the instructor to create robust interaction and dialogue. Every student is expected to create an original response to the open-ended DB question as well as engage in dialogue by responding to posts created by others throughout the week. At the end of each unit, DB participation will be assessed based on both level of engagement and the quality of the contribution to the discussion.
At a minimum, each student will be expected to post an original and thoughtful response to the DB question and contribute to the weekly dialogue by responding to at least two other posts from students. The first contribution must be posted before midnight (Central Time) on Wednesday of each week. Two additional responses are required after Wednesday of each week. Students are highly encouraged to engage on the Discussion Board early and often, as that is the primary way the university tracks class attendance and participation.
The purpose of the Discussion Board is to allow students to learn through sharing ideas and experiences as they relate to course content and the DB question. Because it is not possible to engage in two-way dialogue after a conversation has ended, no posts to the DB will be accepted after the end of each unit.
A. Questions for weekly discussions and conversations (not part of the required Discussion Board assignment)
These questions can serve as the starting point for your discussions during the week. They are “thought starters,” so that you can explore some ideas associated with the discussion board and unit topics. Answers are not required, and should not be submitted with your required assignment. Answers are not graded.
1. What images do we use today that originated from creations by early civilizations for religious ceremonies?
2. What historical art images do we use today, from creations by early civilizations, for cultural celebrations?
B. Required Discussion Board assignment.

How to Manage Your Lost Opportunities in Odoo 17 CRMCeline George
Odoo 17 CRM allows us to track why we lose sales opportunities with "Lost Reasons." This helps analyze our sales process and identify areas for improvement. Here's how to configure lost reasons in Odoo 17 CRM
How to Make a Field Mandatory in Odoo 17Celine George
In Odoo, making a field required can be done through both Python code and XML views. When you set the required attribute to True in Python code, it makes the field required across all views where it's used. Conversely, when you set the required attribute in XML views, it makes the field required only in the context of that particular view.

1. Instructions for Instructions
Learning Goals
Write a set of instructions
Appropriately adapt tone, style, and content depending on
audience, purpose and genre
Write clearly and concisely, with grammar and usage
appropriate to the rhetorical situation.
Writing Instructions
We use instructions every day, when we put together a piece of
furniture from Ikea or follow a recipe. Instructions spell out the
steps required to complete a task. Instructions need to be clear
2. and easy for the audience to follow.
Using the outline on p. 455, write instructions for a task that
requires a minimum of 5 major steps.
The Audience
Address a general audience. A general audience means those
without specialized knowledge. For example, if you are a
nursing major, instructions for a medical procedure would not
be for a general audience.
Outline for Instructions
Components to include:
1. Introduction
Overview
Materials , equipment
Working definitions
3. 2. Required Steps
A minimum of 5 numbered steps
Steps should begin with an action verb.
(Examples: Stir, measure)
Insert warnings, cautions and notes as needed.
Visuals
Include all necessary visuals (photos or graphics).
Number your visuals. Ex: fig. 1, fig 2.
Cite your visual in Reference list
Cite all sources!!! If you are using screen shots or your own
pictures, be sure to cite them so there is no confusion.
Instructions for a Recipe
If you are giving instructions for a recipe that you did not
create, be very clear about where you got the recipe. You should
include that information in the Overview.
For example, “This recipe has been adapted from the Pioneer
4. Woman.com.” You don’t want your reader to think you wrote
the recipe.
Make sure your instructions follow the content, organization,
style and page design guidelines.
5. Do Not!!!
Do not write instructions for changing oil or a tire.
DO NOT copy your instructions from another source. This will
result in a grade of 0.

Notes About Using Graphics in Your Essay
Definition
Graphics are: drawings, diagrams, flow charts, photos, maps,
graphical presentations of data
(e.g. bar charts and pie charts), etc.
The Purpose of Graphics
• Use graphics to help readers understand what you have
12. written.
• Do not replace text with graphics [click for an example]
• Graphics must be appropriate –funny pictures would not be
appropriate in this essay.
[click for an example]
• Graphics must be relevant –only include them if they can add
to or support your text.
[click for an example]
The Format of Graphics
• Graphics must be large enough for detail to be clear but they
should not consume
unnecessary amounts of space on the page.
• Each graphic must have a figure number and a title which
briefly describes its content.
[click for an example]
• Graphics must appear in your essay in numerical order.
The Location of Graphics
• Graphics must be located at relevant points in the text (not
collected together as an
appendix) but do not allow graphics to break paragraphs.
• Place graphics between paragraphs and as soon as possible
after the paragraph where first
mentioned. [Click for an example]
Linking Graphics to the Text
• At the point in the text where it is most relevant for the reader
to look at a graphic, add a
13. link to it.
• In the links, refer to graphics by number. [click for an
example]
Writing About Graphics [click for examples]
• In your text, explain your points and link them to graphics
where relevant.
• Do not present a graphic first and then use the text to explain
it.
Acknowledging Graphics [click for examples]
• Acknowledge the sources of graphics to avoid accusations of
plagiarism
• Note that for publication you need permission from the
copyright owner of graphics
• You can modify graphics but should still acknowledge the
source and include a note about
modification
Do Not Replace Text With Graphics: Examples
Example 1: The Text is Supported by the Graphic (GOOD)
One cause of environmental pollution is the piles of illegally
dumped rubbish (Figure 1)
wherever a piece of land is easily accessible by motorised
vehicles. The uncaring attitude of
contractors who are responsible will have a long term effect on
14. the environmental safety of
Hong Kong as a whole.
Example 2: The Graphic Attempts to Replace the Text (BAD)
One cause of environmental pollution can be seen in Figure 1.
This will have a long term
effect on the environmental safety of Hong Kong as a whole.

Figure 1: A Hill of Refuse in Outlying Areas
Graphics Must be Appropriate: Examples
EXAMPLE 1: Inappropriate Use of Graphics
It is possible that at some time in the future, life forms from
another planet (Figure 1) will
visit the earth. If this happens there is no reason to assume the
visitors will be hostile (Figure
2).
15. [BACK TO NOTES]
Figure 1: Alien Life Forms Figure 2: Friendly Alien
Relevance of Graphics: Examples
EXAMPLE 1: Relevant Use of Graphics (GOOD)
Although Hong Kong has access to large areas of sea, its
potential for producing electricity is
severely reduced when the sea remains calm (Figure 1) which is
true for significant portions
of the year. Calculations of the economic viability of investing
in wave power technology
must take into account reduced production in calm periods.
16. EXAMPLE 2: Irrelevant Use of Graphics (BAD)
As a coastal region, Hong Kong has access to large areas of sea
(Figure 1) which make the
generation of electricity from wave power a viable option that is
worth considering. This
technique is used to good effect in other coastal areas.
EXPLANATION:
The figure in example 1 helps you explain to the reader what
you mean by “calm”. This is
important as the term may be understood differently by different
readers.
The figure in example 2 shows readers what a sea looks like.
They already know that so the
figure adds nothing.

19. medium. This experiment is the
foundation of fibre optics technology which uses glass fibres as
the medium for guiding light along
curved paths.
The glass fibres can operate in the same way as the water in
John Tyndall’s experiment. By guiding
the light within the fibres it can be guided around corners. In
this way, light can be used to transmit
data over long distances without the necessity for a straight path
or a line-of-sight. This capability has
been developed to a high level and, because light travels at high
speed, has become an important
tool for high speed data transmission.

The famous Hong Kong skyline as seen from Victoria Harbour
(Figure 1) is a powerful point
of attraction for tourists to Hong Kong and an achievement that
Hong Kong people can be
proud of. However, the water of Victoria Harbour is another
matter. It is not something any
society would want to be proud of. Victoria Harbour is highly
polluted. One glance at the
surface of the water shows an ugly mess of polystyrene
containers and plastic waste which
floats on the water alongside other less identifiable but equally
disgusting waste products
(Figure 2). This is an achievement that Hong Kong people
cannot be proud of.
21. In addition to the visible pollution, Victoria Harbour is
suffering from the invisible pollution
caused by many years of dumping toxic waste into the harbour
waters. The levels of trace
metals in the harbour waters increased rapidly between the mid-
1970s and the early 1990s
(Table 1). It could be argued that this is part of the price paid
for the rapid development of
Hong Kong’s industry in that period. However, it could also be
argued that these high levels
of trace metals are simply the result of lax government controls
on industry in that period and
could have been avoided.

Acknowledging Graphics: Examples
Example 1:
NOTE: You need permission from the copyright holder to use
photographs and drawings
unless there is a specific statement that it is not necessary (for
example with clip art). If you
created the graphics (e.g. took your own photos) it is not
necessary to add a copyright
message but it is a good idea to do so to avoid confusion.

Note: There is no need to acknowledge copyright for data but
the source must be included.
