From my institutional research I have found out artist such as Drake, J.Cole,
Lil Wayne and more, are similar to the genre of music that ‘System’ falls
under, all of whom are featured on mainstream narrowcast music channels
such as MTV. Other music institutions that broadcast the hip hop/rap genre
music include BBC 1Xtra, Choice FM, KISS and other less popular
associations.
There are many different record labels that our artist could be signed to,
however more popular record labels include Roc-A-Fella and Fresh Beat
Recordings. Roc-A-Fella is a very mainstream record label, founded by
Shawn “Jay-Z” Carter, Damon “Dame”Dashand Kareem “Biggs” Burke and
works with artists such as Kanye West, Jadakiss, and Jay-Z himself. This
record label might not be suited for our artist as it’s situated in USA; it’s a
very popular record label and would be an extremely good method of
becoming recognized. Fresh Beat Recordings would be a more suited
record label for our artist, they focus on hip hop music as well as other
genres and are located in the UK, in addition they are quite a mainstream
company and consists of various artists ranging from BRIT & MOBO award
winners to some of the best up and coming UK talent.
