in NYC during the late 1970s. The origins of the word are often
disputed. It is also argued as to whether hip hop started in
the south or West Bronx While the term hip hop is often used to
refer exclusively to hip hop music (also called rap)

• Eric Lynn Wright known professionally as Eazy-E, was an American
rapper, record producer, and entrepreneur. Dubbed the Godfather Of
Gangster Rap he gained prominence for his work with NWA, where he has
been credited for pushing the boundaries of lyrical and visual content in
mainstream popular music.
• Born and raised in Compton, Eazy-E faced several legal troubles before
founding the Ruthless Records record label in 1986. After beginning a
short solo career, where he worked heavily with Ice Cube and Dre the
trio came together to form the group N.W.A later that year. As a member
of the group, he released the controversial album, Straight outta
Compton 1988
4. Dr Dre
• Andre Romello Young known professionally as Dr Dre is an
American old school rapper record producer, and entrepreneur. He
is the founder and CEO of Aftermath Records and Beats by Dre and
was previously co-owner and co founder of Death Row Records. He
has produced albums for and overseen the careers of many
rappers, including Tupac Snoop Doggy Dogg 50 Cent and Kendrick
Lamar. He is credited as a key figure in the crafting and making of
West Coast G Funk, a rap style with slow, heavy beats.

5. Ice Cube
• O Shea Jackson Senior most commonly known by his stage name as
ice cube he is an American rap artist and actor He is considered by
many to be one of the greatest Rap artists of all time.
• Ice Cube initially gained recognition as a member of the hip hop
group CIA in 1984, which gained limited commercial success prior
to disbanding three years later. Ice Cube, alongside Dr
Dre and Eazy E, then formed the group Nwa, where he gained
extreme notoriety as the group's primary songwriter and
performer, noted for becoming one of the founding artists
of Gangsta Rap,

• Lamont Coleman known professionally as Big L, was an
American rapper He is widely regarded as one of the greatest and
most lyrical rappers of all time, and is known for helping to
pioneer Emerging from Harlem NYC in the early to mid-1990s,
Coleman became well known amongst Underground Hip Hop fans
for his freestyling ability, and was eventually signed to Columbia
Records, his debut album, lifestylez ov da poor and dangerous in
1995 and it blew up selling millions
