A record label is a brand or trademark associated with the marketing
of music recordings and music videos.
Record labels are companies that manufacture and distribute
recorded music and promote that music.

The top four record labels in the UK:

• Warner Music Group
These big four labels/major record labels
represent the majority of the music sold,
making up as much as 75% of the music market
or more.
4. Atlantic Records:
Atlantic records was founded in 1947 by Ahmet Ertegün and
Herb Abramson in the USA.
Atlantic records are best known for their numerous
recordings of rhythm and blues, rock and roll, jazz, and hip
hop for their artists.
In 1967, Atlantic became a wholly owned subsidiary of Warner Bros.-Seven
Arts, now the Warner Music Group, and expanded into rock and pop music.
Over its first 20 years, Atlantic earned a reputation as one of the most
important American recording labels, specializing in jazz, R&B and soul
recordings by African-American musicians including Aretha Franklin and Ray
Charles.
Atlantic Records has housed many artists of different genres like Bruno
Mars, Aaliyah, Ryan Star, Coldplay, the Rolling Stones, Christina Perri, Ed
Sheeran, Paramore, Led Zeppelin, Missy Elliot and Clean Bandit.

6. Columbia Records:
Columbia Records under the ownership of Sony Music Entertainment.
It was founded in 1887, evolving from an earlier enterprise, the
American Graphophone Company.
Columbia is the oldest surviving brand name in recorded sound, being
the second major record company to produce recorded records. From
1961 to 1990, its recordings were released outside the U.S. and Canada
on the CBS Records label before adopting the Columbia name in most of
the world.
The artists signed to Columbia Records currently include Barbra Streisand,
Bring Me The Horizon, Beyoncé, The Script, Adele, One Direction, Calvin
Harris, Daft Punk, Ella Henderson, Céline Dion, Little Mix, Train, James
Arthur, Rita Ora and Pharrell Williams.
In 2012, Columbia Records had the highest label share in Adult Contemporary
radio in the US, it was also ranked the number-one AC label that year.
Meaning they

8. Republic Records:
Republic Records is an American record company that
operates as a division of Universal Music Group. The
label was endowed by Monte Lipman and Avery Lipman
in 1995; it was later paired into the Universal Motown
Republic Group in 1999.
The label's main offices are located in New York City,
other offices of the record label are located at the
Interscope Center in Santa Monica, California, U.S.
The label's best selling artists include Amy
Winehouse, Drake, Lil Wayne, Nicki Minaj,
Taylor Swift, Owl City and 3 Doors Down.
Republic records
main genre of
