Capitol Records was founded in 1942, April 9th, by Buddy DeSylva and
Johnny Mercer. It is an American record label that signs various music artist
that are from various genres of music, including pop music artists. Some of
the pop music artists that have signed with Capitol Records are: Katy Perry,
Tori Kelly, Lily Allen, Troye Sivan, 5 Seconds of summer, Halsey, Sam Smith,
Niall Horan, and Jennifer Lopez. These are all very successful pop music
artists, some of which are very contemporary and new to the music industry,
which makes Capitol Records an even more successful record label. However,
Capitol Records have also signed many singers and musicians that are not
from the pop music genre, especially bands such as: The Beatles, The Beach
Boys, Coldplay, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Pink Floyd, Queen, and Radiohead.
