However only 320 horror films have been made which is

lower down on the popularity scale. So a certain audience
still must like horror as when a horror is released they
reach top ticket sales. In 2007 Horror was a more popular
genre than comedy because it sold more tickets

250,000,000) as one of the main releases that year was I
am Legend, released 14th
December 2007, which was the
top grossing sci-fi horror movie in that sub-genre. Which

Warner Bros as its distributed the harry potter series and
Ben Hur among others. However according to the Box
office Mojo the biggest distributor is Paramount as this
year they have distributed; The adventures of Tintin, Puss
in Boots and Hugo. The most popular horror film of 2011
was Paranormal activity 3 which was distributed by
paramount. However the second most popular film insidious
and that was distributed by FilmDistrict a smaller
distributor, but overall the horror movies with a bigger
distributor are more successful.
To make sure film our film is successful. We would use
Lionsgate, as it is a successful distributor, which has
released various horror films, including the Saw series,
which have been greatly popular as a psychological thriller.
This means Lionsgate have experience in the style movie
that we intend to make, meaning they have expertise at
distributing this style film. We would use heard of actors,
but not A-list stars, meaning that there would be enough
publicity with the actors we have, but also allowing us to
focus on the narrative of the film, rather than using the

extensive on resources, and having an empty storyline as a
result, meaning the film could be popular, but not for the
right reasons.
