2. In the opening titles the actors
names appear by fading in and out. It
is black writing on a white
background which makes it stand out
as that is the only item on the
screen. This could also represent a
person mind in the film that they are
confused but remember one thing.
The names are in ink blots which ae
blurred at first. It is like when you go
for an eye test and you’re trying to
figure the letters.
3. The title of the film is in block
white letters which are
simple, stand out and are
modern. It comes into focus
and grows bigger. There is an
extreme close up of the
carpet with blood soaked in
to it giving us a clue about
what will happen in the film
following on from this.
4. This is an established shot of the white mountains as it is a wide shot
showing the surroundings. It sets the scene and shows the audience
where the upcoming scene will take place.
5. An aerial shot is used as it establishes the location, showing the audience
where the upcoming scene will take place. Mist/fog is used as it represents
confusion.
6. Characters:
The protagonist is called Al Pacino who is a policeman/inspector. He wears a
suit as he has an important job but gives off a casual vibe. He looks
dishevelled and there is a close up on his tired eyes.
There is a female character who is also a policewoman. She wears a uniform
and comes across as very eager as she has done some background research
about Al Pacino’s previous cases -as he is a famous detective, so she is
ahead of herself and can impress him.
The second policeman looks out his window in the car at the passing houses
and comments on them.
7. Sound:
There is orchestral music playing in the background which is building up the
tension for the upcoming scene. It is also a moody piece of music.
There is diegetic sound taking place such as the car, plane and rain.
There is limited dialogue in the opening sequence until the plane takes off
and there are two characters together.
