2. INTIAL IDEAS
MODE OF ADDRESS:
The script will be elaborate as this is made for teenagers/young adults and this
film is made to entertain them also they need to understand the film so
elaborate language would be most appropriate.
STYLE AND NARRATIVE STRUCTURE:
This will be a linear story, single stranded, fiction and the genre will be a
supernatural horror.
ANGLE:
My audience will be teens/young adults. My script will reflect
this by the language being quite informal and the main
characters are teenagers so young people would want to see
this and can see from a teenager's point of view. The message
of the film is about white privilege/abuse of power and how
this makes people think that because someone is a sports
player (highly respected by the community) or white, they
can’t possibly do anything to hurt anyone, and they will get
away with it until someone stops them or exposes them.
CONTENT:
Location: Suburbs in America in the 1980s
Characters: Black family, Mother (Ebony Richardson, middle aged), Father
(Brayton Richardson, middle aged), older Daughter (Imani Richardson, 17)
younger Son (Orion Richardson, 15) they are a high-class family.
White family but only a Mother (Sandra Miller, middle aged) and Son (Jason
Miller, 15) they are also a high-class family.
There will be background school kids and teachers, but they don't play a
significant role in the film.
LENGTH OF SCRIPT:
Typically, a horror film script would be
around 90 to 100 pages long, but my
extract will be 6 to 10 pages long.
SYNOPSIS:
This is a film about the Richardson family moving into a new house in the suburbs as their son, Orion has been offered to join a proper baseball team at better high school, the
house has been rumored to be haunted. During the night ghost figures of kids who are wearing a baseball kit wonder the corridors and keep whispering 'get out' 'don't let
them feed on you', there are also creaking, and scratching that are heard through the corridors by the children, but the parents can't see or hear any of this. When Orion
Richardson meets his baseball team, they all look freakishly the same but no one else seems to notice, but his sister Imani does but tries to ignore it. They also have a neighbor
who lives opposite, a single white woman Sarah Miller with her son, Jason Miller who is part of the baseball team the film will make it look like Sarah is the suspicious one as
she keeps staring at the house and tries to break into the house, but the Brayton Richardson scares her away not knowing who it was, but she is innocent and has no clue what
her son and the whole team have done. Then Ebony and Brayton Richardson go away for work leaving Imani in charge but her brother throws a big party so he can fit in with
his new baseball team, the whole of his year go to this party and it's crazy. Suddenly Orion gets snatched by a group of kids and goes missing. The sister then realizes and runs
around the house trying to find him. Turns out the entire baseball team took him down to the basement (which have demonic symbols on the walls and floor) to feed on his
soul, to make them stronger and they have been doing this for years, luring fresh players onto their team then killing them and getting away with it. Just as the ritual is about
to finish the sister manages to stop the ritual carries her unresponsive brother and tries to get out of the house it suddenly turns into a maze and the whole baseball team
chase her, they look pale, deep set bulging bloodshot eyes, their teeth are crooked, and they are snarling like feral beasts. The sister manages to escape but she accidently
knocks an alcohol bottle over along with a candle setting the whole house ablaze trapping the whole baseball team inside. Once they are out the sister tries to wake her
brother up who looks half dead, just as she was about to give up, he suddenly wakes up and looks at the burning house. Film ends with the parents coming back to see the
house on fire and they both say 'What the...' Then the credits roll up to a funky jazz song.
