WHY I HAVE CHOSEN THIS GENRE.

  I chose Drama because in different drama films there is different themes to it which are very
interesting such as alcohol addiction or drug addiction or sexism also obsession, and these can all
         be in relation to a romantic drama and the story can be led on from those themes.
CONVENTIONS

Drama: They portray realistic characters, settings and life situations, they also involve character
                                  development and interaction.



                                                        In million dollar baby, it shows
                                                        conventions of a drama because she
                                                        is determined to be a good boxer,
                                                        and nobody believes in her. Then
                                                        she gets hit and she is paralysed,
                                                        and she wants to commit suicide in
                                                        hospital. This is like a real life
                                                        situation as real people can go
                                                        through the same thing.

5 MAIN IDEAS FOR THE WHOLE
                         FILM


 The beginning will start with the end as the person on the
 floor passed out with a bottle in one hand and pills in the
             other also with cuts on their hand.
 Flashback of what happened, she finds out her boyfriend
     was cheating on her with her best friend as she goes to
                  the park and sees them both.
   She goes home panics and does not know what to do.
            Finds some pills and some alcohol.
She writes a note on the mirror but gets angry and smashes
                              it.
Takes them into the toilet with her and she downs the bottle
               of alcohol and takes the pills.
MAIN IDEAS FOR IDEA ONE THE
                        OPENING SEQUENCE


 The broken mirror and on each piece there is a letter on it written in blood.
                       The letters are all muddled up.
The person pouring alcohol into the cup but without showing the face just the
 hands and the movement. Also maybe instead of alcohol we can use the pills
         and an extreme close up of then putting it into their mouth.
MAIN IDEAS FOR THE WHOLE OPENING SEQUENCE

                  3) Lastly i am going to show the boyfriend
                  and the mum entering the toilet with a
                  shocked look on their face, but however i will
                  not show who died. So the girl remains a 1) Im going to

She is going to be wearing baggy clothes as she is very insecure about

                       The boyfriend whose name is going to be Leam
He is going to be dressed up as a “pimp” with low jeans a hoodie and a pair of trainers. He is
                   going to be represented as cold hearted and as a player.

                     The best friend whose name is going to be Michelle.
 She is going to be dressed up to show she does not have respect for herself. In short skirt, low
top. She is going to be represented as cold hearted and does not care about her friends feelings.

       and then her family find her dead in the park while they

OPENING SEQUENCE


  • Firstly i am going to start with scenes of ballerinas on the screen of a
    computer. (Close up shots of what there is going to be on the screen.)
      • I am then going to picture conflict between the two parents
• Then her walking into the park and meeting up with a stranger and talking
                                     to him.
 • I also am going to picture a hand on the floor (as if somebody is dead)
                                  behind a tree.
CHARACTER REPRESENTATION


             • The girl whose name is going to be____
• She is going to be represented as a very soft and calm character. The
  clothes that she is going to wear are going to be very soft and elegant
                                  colours.
The parents are going to be represented as angry people and very hard to
             communicate and come to an agreement with.
The stranger is going to be wearing trampy clothes and not be presented very
     nicely. His personality is going to seem nice but to nice to be true.

  life situation and appeal to those who have been through the thought of them
                                 committing suicide.”

              o Do you think the images support what I have said?
 No- 2 Yes-8 – If no, Why? “Because in some slides you have not used images very
                   well and not picked out the right ones to use.
HOW AM I GOING TO CREATE ENIGMA?

       In the opening sequence I am not going to show the girls face.
I am not going to reveal who died at the end, or what the boyfriend and mum
                         have opened the door up to.
            Also I am going to use dim lighting to create mystery.
TARGET AUDIENCE


          It is rated 15, so the ages this appeals to is 15-17 year olds
                    Hobbies: Have movie nights with family

What they are in to-Drama/thriller related things and if they relate to their lives.

  • 1. Individual Presentation Assignment #8 DRAMA Maria Younes
  • 2. WHY I HAVE CHOSEN THIS GENRE. I chose Drama because in different drama films there is different themes to it which are very interesting such as alcohol addiction or drug addiction or sexism also obsession, and these can all be in relation to a romantic drama and the story can be led on from those themes.
  • 3. CONVENTIONS Drama: They portray realistic characters, settings and life situations, they also involve character development and interaction. In million dollar baby, it shows conventions of a drama because she is determined to be a good boxer, and nobody believes in her. Then she gets hit and she is paralysed, and she wants to commit suicide in hospital. This is like a real life situation as real people can go through the same thing.

  • 5. INSPIRATIONAL FILMS Crazy Stupid Love This scene is inspirational because the camera angle that they have used shows exactly what all the characters involved are doing.
  • 7. 5 MAIN IDEAS FOR THE WHOLE FILM The beginning will start with the end as the person on the floor passed out with a bottle in one hand and pills in the other also with cuts on their hand. Flashback of what happened, she finds out her boyfriend was cheating on her with her best friend as she goes to the park and sees them both. She goes home panics and does not know what to do. Finds some pills and some alcohol. She writes a note on the mirror but gets angry and smashes it. Takes them into the toilet with her and she downs the bottle of alcohol and takes the pills.
  • 8. MAIN IDEAS FOR IDEA ONE THE OPENING SEQUENCE The broken mirror and on each piece there is a letter on it written in blood. The letters are all muddled up. The person pouring alcohol into the cup but without showing the face just the hands and the movement. Also maybe instead of alcohol we can use the pills and an extreme close up of then putting it into their mouth.
  • 9. MAIN IDEAS FOR THE WHOLE OPENING SEQUENCE 3) Lastly i am going to show the boyfriend and the mum entering the toilet with a shocked look on their face, but however i will not show who died. So the girl remains a 1) Im going to mystery. firstly show the needles on the floor with the 2) Then it is broken bottle going to jump on to the next Opening and just a little bit of the girls shot of the sequence hand on with her best friend blood coming and the out of it. boyfriend in the park but i will not show the girls face.
  • 10. CHARACTER REPRESENTATION The girl whose name is Emily She is going to be wearing baggy clothes as she is very insecure about herself. She is going to be represented as a faithful girl and really is attached to her boy friend.
  • 11. CHARACTER REPRESENTATION The boyfriend whose name is going to be Leam He is going to be dressed up as a “pimp” with low jeans a hoodie and a pair of trainers. He is going to be represented as cold hearted and as a player.
  • 12. CHARACTER REPRESENTATION The best friend whose name is going to be Michelle. She is going to be dressed up to show she does not have respect for herself. In short skirt, low top. She is going to be represented as cold hearted and does not care about her friends feelings.
  • 13. IDEA 2 5. The stranger is a physco and ends up killing the girl and then her family find her dead in the park while they were looking for her. 1. A girl (Annie)has 4. She ends her mind set up homeless on a goal, to and stays at a park and Psychotic be a ballerina. meets this stranger. 2. Her family does not support this view and what’s her to achieve 3. The girl gets really angry that her family is something higher not supporting her so she runs away from like being a doctor home.
  • 14. OPENING SEQUENCE • Firstly i am going to start with scenes of ballerinas on the screen of a computer. (Close up shots of what there is going to be on the screen.) • I am then going to picture conflict between the two parents • Then her walking into the park and meeting up with a stranger and talking to him. • I also am going to picture a hand on the floor (as if somebody is dead) behind a tree.
  • 15. CHARACTER REPRESENTATION • The girl whose name is going to be____ • She is going to be represented as a very soft and calm character. The clothes that she is going to wear are going to be very soft and elegant colours.
  • 16. The parents are going to be represented as angry people and very hard to communicate and come to an agreement with.
  • 17. The stranger is going to be wearing trampy clothes and not be presented very nicely. His personality is going to seem nice but to nice to be true.
  • 18. QUESTIONNAIRE o Does the opening sequence create enigma(Mystery)? No- 0 Yes- 10 o Does this appeal to its target audience? No-1 Yes-9 – If no, why? “Because I think it should be aimed at a lower age group”. o Do you like the theme? No- 0 Yes-10 – If yes, Why? “I liked the theme suicide because it can relate to a real life situation and appeal to those who have been through the thought of them committing suicide.” o Do you think the images support what I have said? No- 2 Yes-8 – If no, Why? “Because in some slides you have not used images very well and not picked out the right ones to use.
  • 19. HOW AM I GOING TO CREATE ENIGMA? In the opening sequence I am not going to show the girls face. I am not going to reveal who died at the end, or what the boyfriend and mum have opened the door up to. Also I am going to use dim lighting to create mystery.
  • 20. TARGET AUDIENCE It is rated 15, so the ages this appeals to is 15-17 year olds Hobbies: Have movie nights with family What they are in to-Drama/thriller related things and if they relate to their lives.
