A $5 billion global leader in integrated mail, messaging and document management solutions, the client serves two million customers
in 130 countries. Infosys enabled the client to enter new markets with its Electronic Bill Presentment and Payment (EBPP) product and
lowered the product’s development and maintenance costs.

The Scenario
In keeping with evolving customer needs, the client recently released an all-new re-architected version of its popular client Electronic Bill
Presentment and Payment (EBPP) product. The older version continued to be in use at a large number of customer sites.

While the successful launch of the new version was a cause to celebrate, it also brought new challenges to the fore. For one, with the older
and newer versions coexisting in the market, the client faced rising maintenance costs. The client set about exploring ways to rein in costs
while ensuring continued support for the older version, and sustained but skillful maintenance of future versions.

The Challenges
Infosys and the client identified two critical requirements:

    •	 The client wanted to expand the addressable market to include small & medium enterprises by making the product available on
       open-source servers. The current version of the product worked on BEA Web Logic application server and Oracle database server.
       Due to the high hardware and server licenses, the market for the product was currently limited to large enterprises

    •	 The older version of the product had to be smoothly migrated to the latest BEA Web Logic application server to ensure continued
       support. BEA had discontinued support for the older version of its application server
