The French Revolution, which began in 1789, was a period of radical social and political upheaval in France. It marked the decline of absolute monarchies, the rise of secular and democratic republics, and the eventual rise of Napoleon Bonaparte. This revolutionary period is crucial in understanding the transition from feudalism to modernity in Europe.

The Roman Empire A Historical Colossus.pdfkaushalkr1407
The Roman Empire, a vast and enduring power, stands as one of history's most remarkable civilizations, leaving an indelible imprint on the world. It emerged from the Roman Republic, transitioning into an imperial powerhouse under the leadership of Augustus Caesar in 27 BCE. This transformation marked the beginning of an era defined by unprecedented territorial expansion, architectural marvels, and profound cultural influence.
The empire's roots lie in the city of Rome, founded, according to legend, by Romulus in 753 BCE. Over centuries, Rome evolved from a small settlement to a formidable republic, characterized by a complex political system with elected officials and checks on power. However, internal strife, class conflicts, and military ambitions paved the way for the end of the Republic. Julius Caesar’s dictatorship and subsequent assassination in 44 BCE created a power vacuum, leading to a civil war. Octavian, later Augustus, emerged victorious, heralding the Roman Empire’s birth.
Under Augustus, the empire experienced the Pax Romana, a 200-year period of relative peace and stability. Augustus reformed the military, established efficient administrative systems, and initiated grand construction projects. The empire's borders expanded, encompassing territories from Britain to Egypt and from Spain to the Euphrates. Roman legions, renowned for their discipline and engineering prowess, secured and maintained these vast territories, building roads, fortifications, and cities that facilitated control and integration.
The Roman Empire’s society was hierarchical, with a rigid class system. At the top were the patricians, wealthy elites who held significant political power. Below them were the plebeians, free citizens with limited political influence, and the vast numbers of slaves who formed the backbone of the economy. The family unit was central, governed by the paterfamilias, the male head who held absolute authority.
Culturally, the Romans were eclectic, absorbing and adapting elements from the civilizations they encountered, particularly the Greeks. Roman art, literature, and philosophy reflected this synthesis, creating a rich cultural tapestry. Latin, the Roman language, became the lingua franca of the Western world, influencing numerous modern languages.
Roman architecture and engineering achievements were monumental. They perfected the arch, vault, and dome, constructing enduring structures like the Colosseum, Pantheon, and aqueducts. These engineering marvels not only showcased Roman ingenuity but also served practical purposes, from public entertainment to water supply.

2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin
http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024
Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.

4. Q1
Talking to Vice India, X tells the tale of how one of his followers asked his
permission to have his photo on his credit card. Alarmed by this bizarre
request, the follower then explained his reasoning for it.
“No, look I use my credit card without thinking about it. And your
expression and disappointment, everytime I take out my card will prevent
me from using it.”
Who is X?
7. Q2
On the transfer deadline day of the summer transfer window in 2021,
Newcastle United signed a player named Santiago Munoz. This young
Mexican striker also has connections to the USA. All of this combined
made it a big story when his signing happened. Jokes and comparisons
were happening all over the internet, and the minds of football fans went
back to the mid-2000s.
What was so special about this that caused such a reaction from the
public?
9. A2
This occurrence was similar to the plot of the 2005 movie Goal!, where a
young Mexican immigrant living in the USA named Santiago Munez was
signed by Newcastle United
10. Q3
This figure X is a giant of Indian sports administration. Having held various posts at
Hockey India (HI), Indian Olympic Association (IOA) and the International Hockey
Federation (FIH). Amazingly, he has also been the president of all three at different
times, and particularly being elected to the top post at the FIH was a historic feat as
he was the first non-European president of the FIH.
Over the years he has been in the news for various reasons, both good and bad. He
was instrumental in setting up HI which replaced the failing organisation IHF as
India’s representative at the world body. He has been at the centre of controversy
sometimes for sackings of coaches and players, especially the abrupt departure of a
Dutch coach of the Indian national team in 2015. However, X is seen as having been
instrumental in reviving Indian hockey, increasing its popularity, and making India
more powerful in the hockey world both on the field and in the corridors of power
within the FIH.
Identify X.

X is a variant of Y that was first introduced as an indoor version of the
sport but has since developed as an outdoor game that is played by adults
(the majority female) and children.
Despite the close relationship between X and Y, there are some important
differences such as difference in the size of the equipments and the field
of play.
The most striking difference would be in this one particular action that is
involved in both games but restricted to a low posture in X. Y doesn’t have
any such restrictions but side or high posture is preferred.
Identify X and Y and the particular action being talked about in the last

In 2014, YouTuber Cassy Athena uploaded an episode of the web series

This personality X comes from a marketing and sales background. He joined
Philip Morris International in 1997, and worked his way up the corporate ladder.
Through the Marlboro brand which comes under the Philip Morris group, he
became associated with the company’s sponsorship of the Ferrari F1 team. With
Ferrari being the most influential F1 team, and Marlboro being their main
sponsor, X became the representative of all the sport’s sponsors on the Formula
One Commission.
When Ferrari was facing a crisis in the 2010s, they appointed X as their Team
Principal. He did improve the team’s fortunes, but failed to deliver a
championship and after a series of 2nd and 3rd place finishes in the World
Constructors’ Championship, Ferrari sacked X. However, he had been associated
with another big Italian sports entity Y since some time. He had held posts at Y
even while working for Ferrari, and in 2021 he was made the CEO of Y.

For many it's the soundtrack to their childhood. Wake up, fire up the
console and hear those iconic words as your TV roars to life.
The voice actor (Yes, it wasn’t artificially created!) behind this sensational
phrase released a tutorial revealing how to enunciate it properly.
“First and probably most important is volume. It is not something to be
delivered lightly. It is firm. It is aggressive. It is your guts hurling through
the air as you growl like a hungry dog on a T-bone. There is a swagger and
it is attitude that makes this line sing.”

X warriors was the nickname given to the team of Asuka and Kairi. Both the
performers are japanese and made their name in Japan before moving to
USA and teaming up there. It was here they were given the title X warriors -
a reference to their japanese heritage.
X is a classical form of Japanese dance-drama : known for its
heavily-stylised performances, the often-glamorous costumes worn by
performers and for the elaborate kumadori makeup worn by some of its
performers. All of this making it a very appropriate name for the team.

X describes Juan Manuel Lillo as his “maestro” and “the best coach I ever had” -
a delightful praise considering who X was as player and is now as a manager.
X has had varied influences - great coaches such as Johan Cruyff, Marcelo Bielsa
and even chefs like Ferran Adria. After his long successful playing career in Spain,
X had a brief spell in Italy before moving to Qatar for what many assumed would
be the final, lucrative end. But to everyone’s surprise, he chose to leave Europe
to work with Lillo in Y - a rather unlucrative and even dangerous choice.
It is a curious chapter, but a crucial one, in X’s career. If it was in Spain that his
ideas were formed, it was in Y - the home of the tricolors - where they were
refined.

During the India vs Iran gold-medal match in the women’s kabaddi event
final at the 2014 Incheon Asian Games, a particular incident showed how
winning is not everything.
During that clash, one of the Iranian raiders, while the raid was on,
immediately froze because of the discomfort. This was because something
had happened to her in the raid. She could have easily been trapped by
the defenders then. Instead, the Indians chose to help her.

This is story of the unlikely friendship of X and Y.
As a very important political figure of his notoriously secretive country, X is
very socially limited. Adding to it is the policy of his country to restrict any
outside influence. So it’s pretty insane that flamboyant Y of all people
became a friend of X after visiting the nation with a Vice filmmaker.
X was a massive fan of Y’s team from the 90s and it was from that
information that the idea of sending Y as an emissary concocted. Fast

prisoner, as well as talks between his and X’s countries.

At the GP circuit in Montreal, Canada the final section of the lap has a long straight,
followed by a chicane (shown in image) which leads into the start/finish straight. The
chicane has always proved tricky for drivers, requiring a mixture of bravery and precision,

154. Q28
The Madrid Open is a professional tennis tournament played in Madrid,
Spain in early May. It is played on clay, and is a part of the summer clay
court season, serving as one of the build-up tournaments to the French
Open. However, in the early 2010s the then owner of the tournament, Ion
Tiriac, decided to spice up the tournament by making a significant change
(revolutionary or stupid, depending on who you ask) to the very DNA of the
tournament. It was hoped that this change would make the tournament
more attractive on TV, however, the players ended up unanimously hating
this modification. Among other things, it was criticised for its ‘unnatural
feel’ and the fact that it changed the playing characteristics of the court
too much. The ATP banned this feature and things returned to normalcy
from the next year.
What change are we talking about?
