• This protective device that finds its use in
many water sports is mostly used in kite
surfing. It allows the surfer to be able to
detach from the kite quickly in the case of
an emergency.
• While immensely important, when first
introduced it was denounced by the
surfers, so much so that they mocked the
people using it and that name has stuck to
this day.

attack. While a lot of people think that the attack gets its name from
the fast development of White’s pieces, it has more to do with the
fact that the attack was popularized by a chess format in Britain in
1980s. The tournaments were called XY style tournaments as they
involved weekly matches with points being added over the weeks to
eventually declare a winner.

altogether and can be traced to an early 20th century event organized
by the Count of Dion. The reward of the said event was an epic
45,000 Francs, roughly 13 kg of gold at the time.
