Infinitives are verb forms using "to" that can function as nouns, adjectives, or adverbs. Infinitives can be used as subjects, direct objects, predicate nouns, objects of prepositions, or appositives. They can also modify adjectives or adverbs. An infinitive phrase is an infinitive along with any modifiers or complements that acts as a single part of speech. Examples are provided of infinitives functioning as different parts of speech in sentences.
