I awaken in a state of confusion and dismay as to where I am and how I got here. I assign
confusion to being in a pitch black room, or what I assume to be a room, I cannot tell for sure
because it s so dark and empty. As I stumble around and try to find some sort of clue as to where I

Habermas concept of the public sphere. Through the application of a revisionist historical lens,
Fraser both highlights the limits of the original concept of a single public sphere, and introduces
interpretations of it as applied to modern day social issues. Through these critiques, Fraser is
successful in forwarding the theory of the public sphereas an indispensible element to the
application of critical theory. Drawing on examples in late capitalist societies, Fraser illustrates an

Since the beginning of history, the rise and descent of civilizations has molded history influencing
what nations have become today. The approach of using a strong military and a dynamic economy
can be seen as template for civilizations when trying to dominate parts of the world since this

Huntington emphasizes the importance of culture within a civilization by describing it as a cultural
entity (Huntington 2). Culture, along with history, language, and religion, is what distinguishes
civilizations from each other (Huntington 2). Similarly, he speaks about the significance of being
aware of one s own civilization and what makes it unique from others. He describes this awareness
using term civilization consciousness and believes that this awareness can sometimes lead to
conflict (Huntington 3). This idea is similar to the idea of nationalism. Nationalism is commonly

In this week application, I will pay attention to natural disaster (floods) and school based crisis
situations. Floods refer to an overflow of water from a water body due to excessive rainfall or

Black Panthers really were? They helped transform the lives of many African Americans in the
U.S and helped empower the community. The Black Panther has a huge background of history,
goals, and beliefs. Huey P. Newton and Bobby Seale from Oakland, California founded the
Panthers in 1966. Initially, they were an African American self defense force and were highly

stereotypes of the Black Panthers as people who ran around with guns, fighting police, they were a

Over the past semester, I have had the pleasure of volunteering my services to Bilal Oromo Dawa
Center in Fridley, Minnesota as a tutor and person of influence to children ages 6 18. Bilal Oromo
Dawa Center s (BODC) mission statement is as follows: Bilal Oromo Dawa Center is a charitable,
religious, social, cultural, educational nonprofit organization dedicated to serve the Muslim
community. As I have come to find out, BODC is a community center that offers many different
services for all its community members. The services range from tutoring services, weekend school
for Islamic studies, funeral services, Friday congregational prayers, family and marriage
counseling, youth sports, and general community services. BODC is a relatively new organization;
however, they stem from Tawfiq Islamic Center in North Minneapolis. Tawfiq Islamic Center (TIC)
has been open to the community since 2004 and is still open. TIC and BODC share a similar
community member base and actively cooperate to better the community.
I have been aware of TIC since it was opened on inaugural day and practically grew up in that
facility as I attended practically every event they have set up. I attended weekend school during

In Outskirts the livelihood of the Russians is not all that great. There is a clear separation in the
high and mighty factory owners and the much poorer shoemakers. While this is potentially an
intentional point that Barnet is trying to make, it seems more like an honest representation of
what the real workers live like. The point that Barnet could be trying to make is the idea that the
factory owners, who are overall the bad people in this film, are supposed to be shunned for
