2. Themes Of Life Is So Good
Theme Essay on Life is So Good
All of people at one point or another experiences a major change in a lifetime. From those
moments those people are able to grow and become better; In other words an adult. In the novel
Life is So Good by: George Dawson and Richard Glaubman the theme of this novel is coming of
age . The theme of coming of age is very apparent in many chapters in the story, and George
Dawson s action are very inspirational to all people. We see throughout the novel that George
works hard on the farm to help support the family. George also sacrifices his own education just
to help the family, and, eventually, George leaves his family so that he wouldn t have to be a
burden to them and learn how to support himself. The novel Life is So Good is a coming of age
novel , because George Dawson learns to work hard for his family, make sacrifices, and leave his
family to learn how to support himself. The first reason this novel s overarching theme is
coming of age novel is that there are multiple scenes in this book where George is working hard
just to help his family. From a very young age, it isn t usually expected that children will have to
work in order to help support their families. Many young people today gently and kindly go
through the coming of age process due to the many improvements shared within the modern
world, and what makes it so inspirational is that George Dawson has to go through coming of age
at a very young age because it was needed by his family. Also he understands what responsibility
is and how he needs to be responsible. Putting his hand on my shoulder, he said to the store
clerk, He s all of ten years, but the boy crushed as much cane as I did. Since the age of four, I had
always been working to help the family. (3) From the quote, the narrator (George Dawson)
narrates that he has worked hard from a very young age and only does it to help support his
family, and it can be seen that the father is very proud of George. George Dawson s work ethic is
also very inspirational, and it inspires the reader to work harder so that they can achieve the things
they desire. Another reason why the overarching theme is coming of age is because the novel also
talks about how

As for metal, it has many uses. In fact, modern civilization has thrived off of things where iron is
used like: buildings, car frames, bridges, and much more.
Is this element rare? Where can it be found?
Iron is the fourth common element. It can be found in Earth s crust and core. There is an abundant
amount of iron that can be found in the stars.
How easy is it to extract and use this element?
It is a long process to extract Iron to get it from an ore to its final product. In the beginning stages,
an iron ore is heated along with limestone and pure carbon in a furnace that reaches temperatures
ranging up to 1,500В°C (2,700В°F); this process helps remove oxygen from iron ore. The
limestone is used to erase imperfectirons.
Is your element found in the human body? If so, what function does it perform?
Iron is a mineral found in the human body. It is a part of the protein hemoglobin of a cell, which
transports oxygen from our lungs throughout our bodies.
With what elements does it react? Are these chemical compounds beneficial or harmful?
When Iron reacts with oxygen, it starts to rust.
Why did you choose your element s sidekick or nemesis? What makes your superhero element want
to combine with or repulse this other element?
I chose carbon as her sidekick because when combined, it creates carbon steel, making Iron stronger
by not being susceptible to rusting. Iron s parents died shortly right

When I was four years of age I attended a swimming club at Seven Islands in Southwark. The
pool was fairly large and was rarely crowded, that was one comfort for me. Seven Islands had
many activities other than swimming, I myself did not choose to do swimming my mum had
decided that I would benefit from it.
My first day at the club started in a shallow pool opposite a larger one. I already knew two people
who came with me, that made me feel a little confident despite the crying of other children. We had
two instructors a man and a women both were roughly in their thirties the man had brown hair and

The day I learned to swim was a normal day, one month after I started. After school my mum
brought me home to get my swimming gear ready for swimming, when I arrived at Seven Islands I
was told that one of the instructors had gone on holiday, in his place was a new women who was
tall and had brown hair and was from Australia. The new lady was nice and spoke softly. She and
the other women decided to see if we could swim without assistance, she started with me first she
held both of my hands and told me to start kicking before I knew it she let go of my hands so I
had to rely on moving them to support myself I then realized that I was actually swimming alone,
after about three seconds I caught the ledge, the shock of it distracted me I could not believe it.
When the instructress went on to other people I tried again this time using different styles of
swimming I was confident with diving and front stroke. At the end of the session I was pleased

Three years after practicing and learning more and more I kept attending I never missed a session

5. A Midsummer Night s Dream Essay
A Midsummer NIght s Dream A Midsummer Night s Dream is a classical play written by
William Shakespeare. It is one of his more eccentric piece of work. The play is about the
struggle of love between four essential characters: Hermia, Lysander, Demetrius , and Helena.
However, it is not quite that simple. The play is quite confusing. In Midsummer Night s dream
the play take place in two realms fairy realm and human realm, two of the three main settings.
Another one of the settings take place inside the cottage of a carpenter Peter Quince. At one point
during the play the realms converge Making it difficult for the audience to distinguish the
difference between reality and illusion within the play. This is one of the many reasons the play
is interesting or appealing. Also to add on, the symbolism of the tile and moon, and comedic
elements within the play serves engage and intrigue. The beginning of the play begins in Athen
during the light of day, reality. It is here we are introduced to the first six of essential characters:
Theseus, Hippolyta, Egeus, Hermia, Lysander, Demetrius, and Helena. Here we learn that Theseus
and Hippolyta are getting, however, they are not happy as one might think. Now, Egeus, the father
of Hermia insists she marries Demetrius, one of her two suitors. However, Hermia does not want
to marry Demetrius, she loves Lysander. On the other hand, Helena loves Demetrius, he does not

6. Stealth Aircraft On Bombing Missions
The advantages and disadvantages of using stealth aircraft on bombing missions are varied, from
their use in conflict to the risks and costs involved in operating such an aircraft. They are
beneficial in restricting the length and time of battles especially when capable of long missions,
but at a substantial cost to both the crew operating the craft and the US Air Force itself. This essay
will explore the long missions the F 117 and B 2 stealth aircraftare capable of, the costs involved in
developing and operating such aircraft, and their efficiency in battle.
An advantage of using stealth aircraft such as the F 117 Nighthawk and the B 2 Spirit stealth
bomber is the capability that these aircraft have to undertake long missions. The B 2 was first
used in 1999 in the Kosovo War, when six aircraft flew a non stop round journey from their
Missouri base, a mission taking 30 hours. The aircraft are highly automated, from their navigational
systems to their weaponry and attack systems. They navigate using GPS and highly accurate
inertial guidance systems which assist the autopilot functions. Bombing missions are automatically
organised by a digital planning system that can carry out all functions, including release of the
weapons themselves. Laser guided bombs are used such as a pair of GBU 10, GBU 12, or BLU
109 penetration bombs, or Joint Direct Attack Munitions (JDAMs). Because of the high level of
automation, and the decreasing cost and size of electronic equipment, it is

7. Education Policies And The Greens
Social wellbeing is contingent upon equitable social policy addressing all varieties of
demographics and needs. One highly contested social policy issue in Aotearoa is that of tertiary
education. Tertiary education policies are proposed by multiple parties, however the most
contentious of these can be drawn from the Greens and ACT who hold highly opposing social
wellbeing ideologies. Essentially, to reveal binary oppositions between these policies, market
and state ideologies must be considered, in addition to the opposing views of individualism and
collectivism which form the cornerstone of how social wellbeing will be met. Moreover, the
differences ACT and the Greens see in what tertiary education should offer, ultimately reveal their
opposing ideologies in policy, and their perspectives towards social wellbeing. Act and the Greens
both agree that Aotearoa as a country in the developed world should face minimal social
inequalities, however they hold vastly different opinions on how this should be achieved. By
comparing ACT who hold market beliefs to the Greens who hold state beliefs it is increasingly
evident that extreme beliefs drawn from either end of the political spectrum pose significant
problems in meeting social milestones. Market beliefs are often viewed as conservative and in the

9. The Molecular Mechanism Of Disease Development Essay
HS is a severe and chronic inflammatory disease with a devastating negative impact on the quality
of life. Unraveling the molecular mechanism of disease development is an important step towards
curing this chronic disease. To our knowledge, no published study has focused on an epigenetic
approach in HS using a genome wide high density methylation array. In the current study, CpG level
methylation statuses were obtained using Infinium HumanMethylation450 BeadChips for DNA
samples from HS subjects and normal controls. This enabled us to characterize differentially
methylated regions involved in HS pathogenesis and identify novel DNA methylation markers that
have not previously been reported with aberrant methylation in association with HS.
A ROC AUC ≥0.75 is generally characteristic of a good biomarker, and an AUC ≥0.9
represents an excellent biomarker. In the present study, we have identified 304 CpG markers, all
with an ROC AUC ≥0.75 and many with excellent diagnostic accuracy for the prediction of HS
status; most of them have not been investigated at the functional level. These 304 CpG sites on 304
genes are spread across noncoding and coding, exonic, promoter and intronic regions with the
largest number (32%) in the intron of the gene, further emphasizing the importance of gene
regulation by intronic sequences. Many of these hypermethylated sites contain an open chromatin
conformation and are occupied with a number of transcription factors, further suggesting that these

10. What Is The Reflection Of The Movie Shottas
For this assignment, I decided to reflect on the film Shottas . The film begins in the streets of
Kingston, Jamaica home of Biggs and Wayne, the two main characters. They lived within a very
dangerous and violent town, which drove them into their own violent lifestyle. As young men, how
the movie starts off, they rob the local drug dealers of a gun for a premeditated robbery. The money
allowed for them to purchase visas to come to Miami, Florida. While in the United States, as
adults, the two continue their criminal activities leading them to be deported back to their home in
Jamaica. Mad Max and Wayne, who was deported years before Biggs made his return, had already

Analysis
When it comes to extortion, in my opinion, there are different levels when it comes to classifying it
as an organized crime. As young men, the boys decided to rob and shoot a delivery truck driver, in
order, to rob him of his earnings. They commited a robbery, however, it modded them into become
disciplined organized criminals and extortionist. I call this a minor because of the money they
robbed the driver of was nothing compared to the amounts of money they were extorting from the
upperworld and underworld people of power. Their behavior reflects the behaviors they have seen
first hand within their communities. The young children within the community are exposed first
hand to the violence of the local gangs and crimes. At this time, I believe, the issue was with the
Jamaican systems, as in educational and law enforcement. Along with the issue of the communities
lack of attention towards their new generations, is the issue of corruption. Aside from law
enforcement being able to keep up with the criminal activity, and being able to stop it, is the
political officials being corrupted. The film reflects on how the political world sometimes becomes
involved in the organized crime world. Reflecting on a reading we did this semester, when the
upperworld connects itself with organized criminals, it does not mean the official themself are
involved in crimes themselves. However, it allows for the organized crime to succeed and become
a thriving

section, through its diverse provincial health centres cannot sidestep warehousing in giving health
care. Warehousing is an essential connection between producers and clients. Throughout the years
warehousing has grown from a minor feature of a company s logistics framework to one of its

I truly believe that it is so important to take time to relax and spend time with those who love
you. The greatest lesson I have learned from my family is how to love and how to show people
how much you love them. With so many people in one family you would think it would be easy
to get left behind or feel forgotten but it was actually the opposite because it just gave me more
people that had my back and cared about me. Being in such a big family you always had to fight
to get a word in and this taught me that if you want your voice to be heard you must speak up.
Everyone in my family learned this lesson so this lead to us all being super loud wherever we
went especially the beach but I would not have it any other way. Nights down the shore are
almost always as good as the days if not better. After coming home from the beach everyone
showers and then we all just sit around and talk with the tv on in the back as background noise.
We usually talk about where we want to eat and what we want to do that night and no one ever

13. Objectivity And The Phenomenological Reduction
Objectivity is a funny way of people justifying their own subjections. Edmund Husserl is the guy to
talk to if you want to be confused by what objectivity means. I say confused, because Husserl s path
through the end product of the phenomenological reduction leads him to contradictions, which
generate revisions of his investigation. Eventually his revisions lead to a happy phenomenological
objective ending and will be discussed along with another objectivity viewpoint: The View from
Nowhere. Lastly I ll give you my objective/subjective opinion on which objectivity I think is more
convincing. Objectivity to Husserl is what he considered the phenomenological reduction. The aim
of the initial phenomenological reduction is to individuate correctly the domain of pure
consciousness as the domain of meaning constitution (Moran 78). I ll attempt to use logicas an
example: the proper objectof logic is to study the relationship between the contents of expressions
and what is being expressed; Modus Ponens states that if p then q is accepted, and the antecedent p
holds, then the consequent q may be inferred. Logic is only interested in the functional relation
between the truthvalue of p and q in the domain where Modus Ponens is applicable. Because
logic, in one domain is only interested in the functional relation between p and q, its overall truth
value is limited to a one sided truth. Logic deals with validities and the laws in which hold between
them. Ideal laws of

16. Abusive Relationships In A Thousand Splendid Suns
Unhealthy Relationships
The greatest marriages are built on teamwork. A mutual respect, a healthy dose of admiration, and
a never ending portion of love and grace. (Weaver). As nationally acclaimed author Fawn Weaver
suggests, a successful marriage is based on the mutual infatuation within a couple, as well with the
longevity of newly found love that is found in the premature ages of a relationship. Although it may
not always be the most easy thing to do at all times, a healthy marriage should consist of the
ceaseless admiration of the two through smooth as in rough. Even though this is way that an ideal
everlasting relationship should be undertook, that is not always the case. In many instances, the
Biblical bonding between male and female, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In Rasheed s case this is most likely because he lives in a very patriarchal society in which males
make all the rules. As a matter of fact once the taliban came into power, one of their rules was
that women will stay inside their homes at all times and that if a woman should go outside the
home they should be accompanied by a male relative. (278). Obviously a society in which
women are not even allowed to go outside without a male relative, increases the amount of power
that men have exponentially. Although American culture during the 1990s did not have such
strict laws against women at the time, many occupations were filled by male personnel. As a
matter of fact, just over 30 million women were working in the 1990s, compared to the 55
million men at the time. (Census). Even though America was not nearly as male dominated as
Afghanistan during the Taliban era, it was still very patriarchal. This is a very probably cause to
the reason why seven out of ten domestic disputes are male against female. (Campbell). Khaled
shows through his novel that it is almost always the male that is doing the abusing in their Afghan
society at the time. Mariam makes it clear that the women are helpless against the power of the
male by incorporating statements such as, As a reminder of how women like us suffer. How
quietly we endure all that falls upon us. (91). Under the

19. The Leadership Theory Of Organizational Needs
As previously mentioned, it is important that organizational needs are met by ensuring that leaders
have the right skills, while also having a foundation of a specific leadership theory to drive the
daily functions of the organization. As important as these aspects are, it is even more important that
leaders take the time to evaluate their leadershipstyle and philosophy to ensure that they remain
effective and efficient in their work. Fisher (2009) notes that it is important to recognize the
type of leadership that is most effective with staff, so that it can be applied accordingly. By
taking the time to self evaluate, it will allow for self reflection on one s own philosophies and the
ability to grow as a leader in their areas of weakness and enhance the areas that are the strongest. As
a social workleader working within the nonprofit public management side of a HSO, it is
important that I take the time to self evaluate myself and the philosophies that I adhere to in my
daily work. As a Quality Improvement Manager, there are several philosophies that I follow to
ensure that my actions and behaviors are trustworthy, genuine, and supportive in nature. As a
social worker, I abide and follow the values and philosophies of the National Association of
Social Workers. I ensure that my daily tasks are done in an ethical manner to guarantee that the
primary goal of enhancing an individual s well being is met (NASW, 2008). Next, I have always

20. A Brief Note On Wildlife Photography, And For Good Reason
Wildlife photography is a very popular area to specialise in, and for good reason. It gives you a
great excuse to spend extended periods of time outdoors, keeps you fit, and allows you to
develop a real appreciation for the natural world. But it can also be a very challenging field too,
especially since your subject is often running away from you! I m going to share with you 15 of
my top tips so that you can start improving your wildlife photos straight away. Hopefully by the
end of this article you ll have learnt something new that will help you on your journey to becoming
the next Art Wolfe. 1. Shoot on Eye level When you re standing up and shooting an animal on the
ground, your angle of view is pointing downwards. This detracts from the photo, making the
perspective seem strange. It also decreases the distance between the subject and the background,
getting rid of your chance for that nice, soft bokeh (background). Instead, get onto eye level with
your subject. It brings the viewer down onto the animal s level, creating a much more interesting
perspective. It will most likely increase the distance between the subject and the background too,
removing distracting elements by throwing the backdrop out of focus. 2. Learn About Your Subject
Getting to know the animal you re photographing can be a really helpful trick. If you know about
an animal s typical behavioural traits, then you will be able to predict movements or particular
things you can focus on capturing.

22. Battle On The Plains Of Abraham And The Metis
Battles help students realize the perspectives of each side. For an example, Battle on the Plains of
Abraham and Battle of Seven Oaks have perspectives of British and French or Scottish and The
Metis, which makes students become more aware of which side they agree on . However, both of
these battles started with a vengeance, hatred and wrongdoings, but differ in the terms of their
elaborate details, specific reasons, and surprising results after the fighting.
One similarity between these 2 battles is that the English side caused both of the battles. The British
caused it by capturing Louisberg and Quebec on the other hand, the Scottish banned the Metis from
trading meat, fish, or vegetables from the Red river. Both, British and Scottish tortured their
enemies in different ways. The Scottish starved The Metis and took things away from them
whereas The British bombarded Louisberg so the French would surrender it. In addition, the French

Both, of the places that were taken during the battle are still remembered today (park). One of

23. A State Of Confusion And Dismay
I awaken in a state of confusion and dismay as to where I am and how I got here. I assign
confusion to being in a pitch black room, or what I assume to be a room, I cannot tell for sure
because it s so dark and empty. As I stumble around and try to find some sort of clue as to where I
am, a blinding light suddenly pierces through the darkness and shines with an unbearable heat
against my pale face. I begin to wonder if I am trapped in here for a reason, maybe I have done
something to deserve this. Maybe it was the time I stole from the local gas station, or maybe it
was something much worse, maybe it was something more evil and of morbid intent. As I lay on
the hard ground trying to push those dark memories deep inside my head, I begin to notice the
light moving and change in brightness almost as if someone was holding it. I get the weird
sensation that I am not alone and am being watched, but this feeling soon passes as I notice the
room get hot and the air becomes thick with humid air like a summer night after a long storm.
The air continues to get thicker; I begin to feel myself choking, and soon realize why I am in this
place and just what it wants. My flight back home landed around nine in the morning, and all
around me I saw families reunited with their loved ones; all around me was love and compassion
which I had not felt in quite some time. I walked through the snaking hallways of the airport

26. The Public Sphere By Nancy Fraser
Nancy Fraser s article speaks as both critical analysis and a modern day interpretation JГјrgen
Habermas concept of the public sphere. Through the application of a revisionist historical lens,
Fraser both highlights the limits of the original concept of a single public sphere, and introduces
interpretations of it as applied to modern day social issues. Through these critiques, Fraser is
successful in forwarding the theory of the public sphereas an indispensible element to the
application of critical theory. Drawing on examples in late capitalist societies, Fraser illustrates an
alternate proposal of co existing multiple public spheres as a more accurate representation of this
theory in practice.
Fraser informs the reader that Habermas concept of the public sphere served as a regulating
force in the promotion of both democracy, and as a guideline for separation between public and
private areas. This sphere was comprised of politically minded and motivated individuals existing
outside of the realms of government, business and association; with a mandate for debate of
matters of public or common interest; excluding those interests deemed private. Its intention was
to serve as arbitrators between the public and the state. (58) Critics and revisionist historians
however state Habermas account was an idealized version unrepresentative of the public it
claimed to speak for. Fraser contends the logic of the single public sphere s guiding principles,

And Murray also adds that the statistic could also be due to a large amount of prejudice in the
justice system towards race. For instance Derek s black friend in jail was accused of assault and
sentenced to six years because he dropped a stolen TV on the policeman s foot. Derek
oversimplifies the issue by presenting two reasons and fails to acknowledge any of the underlying
factors that may be in play to produce the statistic.
Finally, near the end of the conversation Derek uses the red herring fallacy to further support his
radical view. If Rodney King had been driving along, hopped up on Chivas Regal and PCP and
had killed Danny, you d be singing a very different tune about the force of those cops. In order to
prove his point that King deserved the beating for what he had done, Derek presents the situation
in a totally different light. Derek immediately shifts the discussion to something emotional (the
death of his brother Danny) and the possibility of King hitting into someone during his high speed
chase is totally off topic because he didn t in fact hit anybody. In doing so he uses appeal to fear to
commit the fallacy of red herring.
Derek s blatant racism against the struggling black man is shown throughout this scene. Derek
refers to King as a monkey twice, which displays his obvious lack of respect towards other races.
Derek s strong racial prejudice is obvious towards the end when he

29. Culture Awareness In Nigeria
Culture is defined as the customary beliefs, social forms, and material traits of a racial, religious,
or social group. according to Merriam Webster (2017). What does this mean to the average
individual? When surrounded by various cultures, as humans, we sometimes have tough decisions
to make. You can develop new relationships, or avoid another due to one s culture. The world is a
very intriguing place because no matter where you go, no country, state or city will be exactly the
same. It is always interesting to compare countries to America to realize how different our culture
compares to others. For example, Nigeria(when compared to the United States) is a very different
place which could be a vast culture shock to someone who is not familiar with that specific
culture or society. Nigeria is relatively small but has a population which surpasses Russia. This
being said, in Nigeria the average age is only 17.9 years old where the United States and Russia
have an average age of 38 years old. Understanding culture awareness and its effect on the way
humans live can make one very successful when they find themselves in a foreign environment.
Nigeria is small in relation to the United States of America while still being the 32nd largest
nation in the world. Despite its size Nigeria has a population of 190,632,261, according to The

The Chemistry of Hip Hop Many people don t know that hip hop is deeper than just rapping. Hip
hop consists of many distinctive things. There are different dynamics within hip hop, and they
all create a vibrant and complex sound. For example, hip hop includes the art of djing,
emceeing, dance, and poetry. All of these aspects have made hip hop what it currently is today.
Hip hop is at times frowned upon because of the misunderstanding of hip hop culture. It has
many misconceptions while people don t see that it does have an actual history that has shaped
America. Hip hop was born at a birthday party in the Bronx in the recreation room of an
apartment building at 1520 Sedgwick Avenue. There was a man who lived there. It was the
birthday girl s brother, Clive Campbell, also known to history as DJ Kool Herc, the founding
father of hip hop. DJ Kool Herc was born and raised in Kingston, Jamaica. He lived there until
the age of ten. DJ Kool Herc began djing at parties and between sets, his father s band played

31. Labeling Of Genetically Engineered Food
Labeling Genetically Engineered Foods
A popular debate in the United States that s been ongoing since 1990, is the labeling on
Genetically Modified or Engineered foods otherwise known as GMO s. Genetically engineered
food is an unnatural process of plant or meat products. These two products have had their DNA
artificially altered in a laboratory by genes from other plants, animals, viruses, or bacteria to
produce foreign genes in food. Monsanto, an agriculture company, claims the reason behind this
experimental genetic alteration was said to produce a multiplying supply to feed the world.
Nevertheless, Americans are in a debate with the government to label genetically engineered food
due to several reasons. Labeling genetically engineered ingredients will help consumers determine
which products they decide to consume. The FDA published a policy that states they do not
require labeling of GMO foods. Americans and people all over the world feel that they should have
the right to know what they are purchasing and consuming due to a list of health, environmental,
ethical, and religious reasons.
People all over the world have a right to know what they are purchasing and consuming. The US
government thinks otherwise. There have been no conclusive studies that show that genetically
modified foods are safe to consume. The US Food and Drug Administration does not think it s
necessary to require safety studies for genetically engineered foods. The article About GE Food

Sunset Boulevard is a film noir movie that was released in 1950. When looked at, the main
character Joe Gillis, portrayed by William Holden, can be seen as an anti hero. Joe shows his anti
heroic behavior in many ways. For example, he is dishonest, he uses the people around him, and
he also is only focused on elevating himself. One of the many examples of the dishonesty of Joe.
One of the most notable examples of his is when he meets Norma Desmond, portrayed by Gloria
Swanson. He starts out being noble by telling her that she should rethink let him look over the
script, however, he quickly becomes crooked. He tells her falsehoods to try and extort money out of
her. This transforms into him taking advantage of the situation.
He starts by taking advantage of Norma as the movie continues. Again, Joe starts being somewhat
noble by trying to tell Norma that he does not need to move into the house but stay at his apartment.
But, this changes when Norma tells him that everything has been paid for. He quickly drops the
argument and starts to live there. He also lets her buy him fancy suits and gifts without much if any
argument. It can also be seen that he is more concerned about the money and his elevating status ...

The first problem that I noticed when I read the case was the fact it mentioned that HP was under

This fact lets me know that there should have been various levels of management from the CEO on
down to the first level employees. In order for a company to be successful there has to be a
vision and direction should be provided to carry out that vision. As CEO, Carly Fiorina took care

It would appear that HP made the right decision by bringing on Mark Hurd as its new Chief
Executive Officer. He was brought in to correct a lot of the management deficiencies that Carly
Fiorina left behind. Mark Hurd brought with him a focus on execution and he began working
from the bottom up. I think that his method was needed at that time because it works well when
dealing with a vertical management structure. All levels must feel important and involved in
making the company successful. Although Mark Hurd maybe the face of the company, he is
not the only person that keeps it going. As a good leader does, he kept what worked. In this case
it was keeping the overall strategy that Carly Fiorina had in place but he provided specific
visionary purposes. He had to restructure divisions and ultimately lay off over 14,000 employees
to maintain the company s budget goals. In the long run, Mark Hurd made the difficult decisions
that needed to be made to bring the company back on track. His actions earned the trust of his
employees and therefore I would conclude that he boosted the overall morale of his employees.

Joining the military at a young age, I became reliant on my leadership. I looked at anyone that

The West Versus Reality
Since the beginning of history, the rise and descent of civilizations has molded history influencing
what nations have become today. The approach of using a strong military and a dynamic economy
can be seen as template for civilizations when trying to dominate parts of the world since this
template has been consistently used. The Clash of Civilizations, an essay by Samuel P. Huntington,
argues that, as a result of the Cold War, global politics would be centered around the conflicts
between the world s civilizations. Huntington perceives the conflict between Islam and the West an
extremely impactful conflict. However, The Clash of Ignorance, a literary piece by Edward W.

His argument would have been significantly stronger if he showed the darker side of the West as
opposed to making it appear like the West never did anything resulting in a negative impact.
Huntington emphasizes the importance of culture within a civilization by describing it as a cultural
entity (Huntington 2). Culture, along with history, language, and religion, is what distinguishes
civilizations from each other (Huntington 2). Similarly, he speaks about the significance of being
aware of one s own civilization and what makes it unique from others. He describes this awareness
using term civilization consciousness and believes that this awareness can sometimes lead to
conflict (Huntington 3). This idea is similar to the idea of nationalism. Nationalism is commonly
used to engender a sense unity within civilizations with the goal of fighting external forces, but
nationalism can be certainly dangerous. For instance, in the film Promises and Betrayals, Arabs and
Jews had an ongoing conflict after the British promised them their independence, which made them
victims of their own sense of nationalism. However, Huntington also mentions actions like
Asianization and re Islamization that have the goal of understanding cultural differences showing
the non violent side of civilization consciousness (Huntington 4). An increase in tolerance to

Happy Meal , a specialized meal marketed at children from McDonald s contains main item such
as a hamburger, a side item like french fries, a drink, and most important, a toy. 20% of
McDonald s sales is from toys, it has become one of the largest US toy distributors. McDonald s
uses popular characters such as minions or Hello Kitty to attract children to their happy meal.
Because of these toys, McDonald s became the most popular American kid s restaurant. Some
children even ask for Happy Meal only for the toys. Because Happy Meal is the most popular fast
food product, McDonald is big extend has a significant relationship with American childhood
obesity.
Is the Happy Meal ethical or not? According to Kant s theory, which includes that people have the
duty to not physically harm others, McDonald s behavior is unethical. Because as a fast food
company, McDonald s targets children by using toys and selling them fast food which make
children obese and make far lasting impacts on those children s dietary habits.

Assignment Turnitin week 4
Briefly describe the two specific systemic crises you have selected.
In this week application, I will pay attention to natural disaster (floods) and school based crisis
situations. Floods refer to an overflow of water from a water body due to excessive rainfall or
input in water from its source exceeding the usual capacity of the water body. The over whelming
flow of water is catastrophic leading to destruction of infrastructure, plants as well as causing loss
of life to both animal and human beings. Flood may occur slowly while in cases of flash flood, they
occur instantly within a short duration of minutes.
School based crisis refer to unforeseen predicaments affecting a school set up. A school based crisis
affects quite a significant portion of the school fraternity. Generally such crisis include: death of
student, staff member or a community member who had had a big role in the school, major
environmental crisis such as fire and situations that compromise the safety of students for instance a

goals, and beliefs. Huey P. Newton and Bobby Seale from Oakland, California founded the
Panthers in 1966. Initially, they were an African American self defense force and were highly
influenced by Malcolm X s beliefs. The Panthers had many goals such as;freedom, protecting
blacks from police brutality, and helping African Americans obtain a jobs. Despite the negative
stereotypes of the Black Panthers as people who ran around with guns, fighting police, they were a
major group during the Civil Rights Movement because they practiced self defense, established
revolutionary socialism, and stimulated Malcolm X s influence. In the following I will discuss the
successful changes the Black Panther Party, had on the African American community during the
civil rights movement.
This website provides an electronic copy of the reasons given for the Black Panthers use of self
defense. The parties original purpose was to patrol African American neighborhoods to protect
residents from acts of police brutality. It was published online by the Encyclopedia Britannica. This
source was originally intended for the African Americans citizens of Oakland California, as well as
the rest of the country, to take up their constitutional

43. I Have The Pleasure Of Volunteering My Service At Bilal...
Over the past semester, I have had the pleasure of volunteering my services to Bilal Oromo Dawa
Center in Fridley, Minnesota as a tutor and person of influence to children ages 6 18. Bilal Oromo
Dawa Center s (BODC) mission statement is as follows: Bilal Oromo Dawa Center is a charitable,
religious, social, cultural, educational nonprofit organization dedicated to serve the Muslim
community. As I have come to find out, BODC is a community center that offers many different
services for all its community members. The services range from tutoring services, weekend school
for Islamic studies, funeral services, Friday congregational prayers, family and marriage
counseling, youth sports, and general community services. BODC is a relatively new organization;
however, they stem from Tawfiq Islamic Center in North Minneapolis. Tawfiq Islamic Center (TIC)
has been open to the community since 2004 and is still open. TIC and BODC share a similar
community member base and actively cooperate to better the community.
I have been aware of TIC since it was opened on inaugural day and practically grew up in that
facility as I attended practically every event they have set up. I attended weekend school during
my adolescence, and I eventually became a teacher s assistant for the program. It would be an
understatement to say that I always felt indebted to the community for playing a large role in my
childhood. I continued to teach Arabic and Islamic studies there for a couple of years before

44. Propaganda In The Outskirts
Being compassionate to individuals of their larger enemies such as Germany can be debated in
Outskirts. The reason for this is scenes such as the one at 1:19:00 where a group of Russian
shoemakers attack the German prisoner of war does not show individual compassion. A possibility
for the demonstration of this behavior is to make sure the viewers of this filmsee how the people of
this film are not perfect, so they can better connect. It is very important for the realism aspect of
this type of filmmaking so that the viewers won t see the films write off the films as extremely
clear acts of propaganda from the government. While in a significantly more exaggerated fashion,
the same imperfections can be seen in The Outskirts. In the scene... Show more content on

In Outskirts the livelihood of the Russians is not all that great. There is a clear separation in the
high and mighty factory owners and the much poorer shoemakers. While this is potentially an
intentional point that Barnet is trying to make, it seems more like an honest representation of
what the real workers live like. The point that Barnet could be trying to make is the idea that the
factory owners, who are overall the bad people in this film, are supposed to be shunned for
trying to be better than the rest of the people. This inequality could be the idea Barnet is
representing by showing the class difference. If this is so it is seen similarly in The Outskirts
which has many scenes showing the significant difference between the lifestyle of the the higher
ups who made the decisions for the farmers, and the farmers in their village. There is a scene
when the farmers reach the final stage where the owner of all the oil fields mentions how his table
is worth more than the entire village, which is clearly an idea that wouldn t exist in soviet
