Tooth preparation for indirect restorations involves using decreasing grit diamond burs to create slightly divergent walls and rounded internal line angles. Immediate dentin sealing and blocking out undercuts is recommended. Cementation of indirect restorations requires surface treatment of the restoration and tooth walls, with acid etching and silane for ceramic inlays. Rubber dam isolation and a three step etch and rinse bonding system is used along with dual cured resin cement. Excess cement is removed and the restoration is polymerized.
