The Indiana Sports Corp was founded in 1979 as the first sports commission in the United States. It is a private, non-profit organization that aims to stimulate economic growth and inspire healthy kids through hosting sporting events. Its mission is to create positive community impact by hosting world-class sporting events that enhance civic pride and drive economic benefits. It collects and distributes donated sports equipment through its Geared for Health program to help underserved youth get active and develop healthy lifestyles. Since 2007, it has served over 200,000 youth through 227 organizations across Indiana.
