president of the World Vision International
3. The history of World Vision
International
● In the 1970s, they established a emergency relief division
and attempted to address the causes of poverty by focusing
on community needs such as water, sanitation, education,
health, leadership training and sufficient income.
● In the 21st century,they strengthened the world’s advocacy
effort, particularly on issues related to child survival. World
Vision International became more active in working with
governments, businesses and other organisations in
addressing issues such as child labour, children in armed
conflict and the sexual exploitation of women and children.
4. Why World Vision was created and how
was it inspired
● Founder was Rev.Pierce(because of an incident where he gave five
dollars to a mother to help care for her child)
● Pierce decided to build an organization dedicated to help the world’s
children,so in 1950 World Vision was born. And the incident where he
decided to help a mother who was disadvantaged became a turning point
for him
● World Vision is a christian organisation and believes in serving every
child they can so that they follow Jesus’s example to show unconditional
love to the poor and the oppressed
5. ● He was HIGHLY impressed by the people in World Vision and the
impact made when he was a volunteer
● He wants to make a bigger difference in helping the disadvantaged
● He also wants to make a difference by helping those who have little
chances to voice out in today’s world
6. ● Helps needy children,families and communities access
clean drinking water,sanitation,education,skills for future
livelihood,nutrition,healthcare and participate in age-
appropriate activities in development processing
● Providing food,shelter and medical care to victims of natural
or man-made disasters
● Working with policy makers and the public at the
national,regional and global level to build awareness around
poverty and to address the unjust systems that help
perpetuate it
