The Indian Leather Products Association (ILPA) was established in 1987 and represents about 200 leather manufacturers and exporters. ILPA provides various services to support the leather industry such as organizing seminars and workshops, liaison with the government, start-up assistance, and consultation services. ILPA also operates an industrial park for leather goods manufacturing called the ILPA Leather Goods Park, which will house around 100 member factories. Additionally, ILPA runs facilities like a design studio, common production center, and a technical school for skill development training.

2. Important services for the Industry
1. Support to the industry: ILPA organizes Seminars, webinars &
workshops on a regular basis related to industry matters. It provides a
common forum for exchange of knowledge & information related to the
leather & leather goods export industry. ILPA also provides customized &
dovetailed symbiosis for its members.
4. Consultation: ILPA provides consultation
& guidance as required. ILPA has empanelled
some industry experts who offer consultation to
members in GST, Exim Policies, Factory Laws
and Licenses, NOC & Statutory Payments etc.
3. Liaison between Govt. & Exporters:
Serve as a vital link between the Government
and the leather industry, representing important
policy measures, focusing on overall health and
growth of the entire sector.
2. Start – Up Assistance: ILPA provides “Start – Up or
New Entrepreneur” assistance to all those who wish to start
their own leather goods business. The association
provides necessary counselling, technical
assistance, training workshops & network
opportunities.

3. ILPA Leather Goods Park (ILPA LGP)
The ILPA Leather Goods Park is a one of a kind industrial park dedicated to
the leather goods industry. It is located in the Kolkata Leather Complex &
well connected to the local tanneries.
ILPA was especially selected by the Department of Industrial Policy &
Promotion, Government of India, the Council for Leather Exports and the
Government of West Bengal for setting up the Leather Goods Park.
About 100 prominent leather goods
member -exporters are building modern
factories in the park. The Park will be
having its own Sewage Treatment Plant
which is being built by the State
Government.
It is expected that once all the leather goods manufacturing units are fully
functional at the Leather Goods Park, it would result in a quantum leap in
export volumes and employment numbers.

ILPA’s CFC has several modern machineries for
manufacturing high quality leather products which

machine, computerized embroidery machines, g,
knitting, embossing, die cutting, edge-
inking, flatbed, post-bed, cylinder-bed sewing
machine are some of the widely used machineries by
members.
