In what ways does your product
use, develop or challenge forms
and conventions of real media
products?

Front Cover
 I used this issue of “We Love Pop” music magazine as my
inspiration throughout the process of making my own
magazine. In addition to this I both used, adapted and
developed this magazine to create my very own unique
front cover.
 Firstly I wanted my title to link back to the genre of the
magazine, just like We Love Pop has included the genre
type in title. I decided to do the same as I think it shows
the continuity and loyalty of the magazine, as it is always
referring back to mean focus of the mazagine. Suggesting
the magazine and audience will have a loyal and
promising connection/relationship between issue release.
 Similar to We Love Pop’s cover I decided to have my
model behind the title, overlapping her image. Like the
slight overlap of We Love Pop’s model. I decided to keep
this the same as I think it shows the important of the
magazine itself and in general not just the importance of
this particular model/issue.
Front Cover
 I wanted my model to connect with my audience, therefore
I asked my model to focus on the camera which acts as the
audiences eye line view. Using a direct angle to take this
image suggests to the friendly and relaxed side of the
mazagine.
 I used my facial expression research on Trevor Millum by
getting my model to act upon the carefree facial
expression. This facial expression presents the model in the
image to be giving off in a positive light. Implying she is
happy and appears to be enjoying herself suggesting she's
living a “carefree” life.
Front Cover
 I wanted my front cover to provide as much
information as possible about the main features
that are included in the magazine (before readers
got to the content page where the rest of the
information would be provided).
 Therefore I decided to follow the top and bottom
banner conventions used by We Love Pop as I
believe they provide extra information in a clear,
understandable and professional form.
 However I adapted this convention by using my
own unique font, information and colour scheme.
For example the brighter the colour the more
important the information was to get across, as
the brightest of the colour would make it stand
out more against the rest.
Front Cover
 I followed the convention of having my barcode in the
bottom right third, as the barcode must be positioned on
the magazine as it is important information. However it isn’t
the one of most significant focuses on the magazine.
 Therefore that’s why I have use this and kept the
positioning of it the same. Implying it has importance to
certain roots as it appears on the front of the magazine,
however isn’t most significant as it isn’t the central/middle/
top third.
 Although I did develop this convention by making it bigger
than shown on We Love Pop magazine because it didn’t
believe it was positioned clearly enough due to size. I made
my barcode bigger so that it was clearly seen and that no
confusion would be made over what the price of the
magazine was as the audience couldn't see it properly etc.
Content Page
 I looked at Top Of The Pops magazine whilst
creating my content page for inspiration
purposes. Similar to Top of the Pops I included a
smaller version my front cover on my content
page so suggest continuity will shown
throughout.
 I used my front cover as my dominant image by
positioning in the middle of my page, so it acted
as my main attraction. Doing this would engage
with the readers and get their audience, as due
to it’s position it would be one of the first
features seen on the page. Enforcing importance
to the feature. Where as Top Of The Pop have
their front cover positioned off the centre in the
middle left third suggesting it lacks in
importance.
Content page
 Unlike the Top Of The Pop’s content page I have
challenged it’s conventions by framing my main
focus/dominant image, with other sub-images
and text. enforce important. This enforces
importance as no other feature is positioned
with it, the rest of the features are around it.
 I followed the conventions of having an editors
note where I could write or add any additional
news or information. I think this feature brings
the whole content page together making it look
much more professional. It also adds a personal
sense to the magazine as the editors writing
directly to the audience and provides a photo of
themselves.

In what ways does your product use...

  • 1. In what ways does your product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products? SOFIA HOWARTH
  • 2. Front Cover  I used this issue of “We Love Pop” music magazine as my inspiration throughout the process of making my own magazine. In addition to this I both used, adapted and developed this magazine to create my very own unique front cover.  Firstly I wanted my title to link back to the genre of the magazine, just like We Love Pop has included the genre type in title. I decided to do the same as I think it shows the continuity and loyalty of the magazine, as it is always referring back to mean focus of the mazagine. Suggesting the magazine and audience will have a loyal and promising connection/relationship between issue release.  Similar to We Love Pop’s cover I decided to have my model behind the title, overlapping her image. Like the slight overlap of We Love Pop’s model. I decided to keep this the same as I think it shows the important of the magazine itself and in general not just the importance of this particular model/issue.
  • 3. Front Cover  I wanted my model to connect with my audience, therefore I asked my model to focus on the camera which acts as the audiences eye line view. Using a direct angle to take this image suggests to the friendly and relaxed side of the mazagine.  I used my facial expression research on Trevor Millum by getting my model to act upon the carefree facial expression. This facial expression presents the model in the image to be giving off in a positive light. Implying she is happy and appears to be enjoying herself suggesting she's living a “carefree” life.
  • 4. Front Cover  I wanted my front cover to provide as much information as possible about the main features that are included in the magazine (before readers got to the content page where the rest of the information would be provided).  Therefore I decided to follow the top and bottom banner conventions used by We Love Pop as I believe they provide extra information in a clear, understandable and professional form.  However I adapted this convention by using my own unique font, information and colour scheme. For example the brighter the colour the more important the information was to get across, as the brightest of the colour would make it stand out more against the rest.
  • 5. Front Cover  I followed the convention of having my barcode in the bottom right third, as the barcode must be positioned on the magazine as it is important information. However it isn’t the one of most significant focuses on the magazine.  Therefore that’s why I have use this and kept the positioning of it the same. Implying it has importance to certain roots as it appears on the front of the magazine, however isn’t most significant as it isn’t the central/middle/ top third.  Although I did develop this convention by making it bigger than shown on We Love Pop magazine because it didn’t believe it was positioned clearly enough due to size. I made my barcode bigger so that it was clearly seen and that no confusion would be made over what the price of the magazine was as the audience couldn't see it properly etc.
  • 6. Content Page  I looked at Top Of The Pops magazine whilst creating my content page for inspiration purposes. Similar to Top of the Pops I included a smaller version my front cover on my content page so suggest continuity will shown throughout.  I used my front cover as my dominant image by positioning in the middle of my page, so it acted as my main attraction. Doing this would engage with the readers and get their audience, as due to it’s position it would be one of the first features seen on the page. Enforcing importance to the feature. Where as Top Of The Pop have their front cover positioned off the centre in the middle left third suggesting it lacks in importance.
  • 7. Content page  Unlike the Top Of The Pop’s content page I have challenged it’s conventions by framing my main focus/dominant image, with other sub-images and text. enforce important. This enforces importance as no other feature is positioned with it, the rest of the features are around it.  I followed the conventions of having an editors note where I could write or add any additional news or information. I think this feature brings the whole content page together making it look much more professional. It also adds a personal sense to the magazine as the editors writing directly to the audience and provides a photo of themselves.
