In this SLP, you will prepare a presentation in which you
provide your audience with information on the following areas:
1. Introduce the immune system.
2. Explain the differences between antibody mediated immunity
and cell mediated immunity.
3. List one example of antibody mediated and cell mediated
immunity.
ASSIGNMENT EXPECTATIONS
Number of Slides: 15
Content of Slides: Your presentation should address each of the
areas listed above.
Speaker Notes
Each slide will contain speaker notes sufficient to tell me what
the purpose of each slide is—specifically, what you would say
to a live audience that you were presenting your program to.
SLP: Second Part
Many healthcare programs have modified their operational
design and culture to one of being patient-centered while being
fiscally viable. As part of your interview of a healthcare
manager or executive selected for module 1 discuss how the
program was or will be transformed to be patient-centered. In
your discussion please address the following questions.
1. How was the program restructured or reengineered to adapt
to internal and external factors impacting it?
2. What internal and external factors were considered in the
transformation?
3. What were the barriers or obstacles were encountered
(e.g. internal politics, economics, resource limitations, time
constraints, etc.).
4. What is the potential impact on the program
of technology, legislation, etc on the services provided on the
program.
*Please note that you may add any additional questions that tie
into the themes presented in module 2.
Expectations
Assignment Expectations:
1. Be sure to conduct additional research to gather sufficient
information to familiarize yourself with the facts of the case
and be sure to justify/support your position.
2. Limit your responses to a maximum of three pages.
3. Please support your discussions with scholarly support (3-5
references). Be sure to properly cite all references.
4. Apply critical thinking skills the the assignment component.
5. I will grade your paper on your ability to address the
assignment criteria listed above with depth and breadth of
discussion. I will also critique your writing format (i.e. proper
reference citations, spacing, etc.).
Your case paper will be further evaluated based on the
following criteria:
Precision (Excellent; Good; Average; Poor)
· Each question and or assignment requirement is addressed in
the paper
· Accuracy of your answers, key points and supporting
discussion
Clarity (Excellent; Good; Average; Poor)
· The paper is well organized, concise, reads clearly, and it is
not confusing.
Breadth (Excellent; Good; Average; Poor)
· The paper presents appropriate breadth covering the
assignment questions/requirements
Depth (Excellent; Good; Average; Poor)
· Presents key points that lead to deeper matters and issues
· Integrates several points into coherent conclusions
Critical Thinking (Excellent; Good; Average; Poor)
· The paper demonstrates good understanding and synthesis of
the module background material
· Logically incorporates key concepts presented in the
background material into the overall analyses, key points and
supporting discussions
· Presents well-reasoned conclusions and position as well as
convincing arguments in support of the same
Writing Mechanics
· Grammar (Excellent; Good; Average; Poor)
· Spelling (Excellent; Good; Average; Poor)
· Vocabulary (Excellent; Good; Average; Poor)
· Referencing (Excellent; Good; Average; Poor)
Additional considerations to keep in mind while working on
your case assignments:
Originality and Use of directly quoted material
· The purpose of each assignment is for you to present your
understanding and synthesis of the background material and key
concepts. Accordingly, this must be accomplished substantially
in your own words.
· Use directly quoted material sparingly and only when
preserving the exact words of an author is necessary. For
purposes of this course, rarely should directly quoted material
represent more than 5-10 percent of your entire case paper’s
content. Composing a paper patched together from mostly
quoted material is not acceptable.
· Be sure to properly reference all directly quoted material and
include the in-text citations. All paraphrased information also
requires reference citations at the end of the paraphrased
section.
Grades
· A paper that answers all assignments questions and supports
the same with good key points, well supported discussions and
quality references will earn a solid “B” grade.
· Please remember that “A” papers are exceptional works that
go beyond just answering the questions and provide insightful
answers.
Case Assignment
Please read the following article:
Holden, M. J., Izzo, C., Nunno, M., Smith, E. G., Endres, T.,
Holden, J. C., & Kuhn, F. (2010). Children and residential
experiences: A comprehensive strategy for implementing a
research- informed program model for residential care. Child
Welfare, 89(2), 131-49.
1. What were the issues that led to the implementation of the
program?
2. Describe the program?
3. How will the implementation of the program resolve the
issues mentioned in the first question?
4. If you were the manager of this program, what would identify
as the positive aspects?
5. What changes would you make to improve the program?

paper in which you:
1. Provide an overview of the lymphatic system.
2. Explain the function of the following organs of the lymphatic
system:
-red bone marrow
-thymus gland
-spleen
-lymph nodes
EXPECTATIONS
Page Length: 2 to 3 pages
Format
TUI encourages all students to comply with APA style and
format guidelines for proper citation of references. For more
information see Syllabus Home Page, APA Style and Format.
Scholarly Content
Your SLP and your case assignments are considered scholarly
works. Your final work should include a MINIMUM of 10 peer
reviewed (scholarly) sources. This does not mean that you must
place 10 peer reviewed sources in each module of your
Case/SLP. I anticipate that the nature of the questions which
must be answered in this project will result in the accumulation
of more than 10 references, but 10 is the minimum number. This
means by the end of module 5, I should be able to go back and
count AT A MINIMUM a total of 10 scholarly-peer reviewed
publications in all of your submitted papers. If you are
uncertain what a peer reviewed (scholarly) source is,
please click this link
Please keep in mind that you should not use sources such as
“Answers.com” or “Wikipedia” or “Wikianswers”. None of
these are scholarly sources and they can be “modified” by any
registered user which makes it unreliable. It could very well be
that those who modify subjects in Wikipedia have a very good
knowledge of the subject, however, since we have no way of
knowing their credentials or intentions, we cannot guarantee
that the source is reliable. It is a good place to start, but should
not be used as factual in graduate writing. For graduate study,
be sure to stick to peer reviewed journals and scientific
sources.
The following site will
help: http://www.csuchico.edu/lins/handouts/scholarly.html
Appropriate Headings and Paper Flow
Remember that you are preparing a formal academic paper.
Your paper should make use of appropriate headings and
subheadings. You should not cut & paste the questions posed
and answer them like a “Question and Answer” session. Your
finished paper should read like an academic paper.

  • 1. In this SLP, you will prepare a presentation in which you provide your audience with information on the following areas: 1. Introduce the immune system. 2. Explain the differences between antibody mediated immunity and cell mediated immunity. 3. List one example of antibody mediated and cell mediated immunity. ASSIGNMENT EXPECTATIONS Number of Slides: 15 Content of Slides: Your presentation should address each of the areas listed above. Speaker Notes Each slide will contain speaker notes sufficient to tell me what the purpose of each slide is—specifically, what you would say to a live audience that you were presenting your program to. SLP: Second Part Many healthcare programs have modified their operational design and culture to one of being patient-centered while being fiscally viable. As part of your interview of a healthcare manager or executive selected for module 1 discuss how the program was or will be transformed to be patient-centered. In your discussion please address the following questions. 1. How was the program restructured or reengineered to adapt to internal and external factors impacting it? 2. What internal and external factors were considered in the
  • 2. transformation? 3. What were the barriers or obstacles were encountered (e.g. internal politics, economics, resource limitations, time constraints, etc.). 4. What is the potential impact on the program of technology, legislation, etc on the services provided on the program. *Please note that you may add any additional questions that tie into the themes presented in module 2. Expectations Assignment Expectations: 1. Be sure to conduct additional research to gather sufficient information to familiarize yourself with the facts of the case and be sure to justify/support your position. 2. Limit your responses to a maximum of three pages. 3. Please support your discussions with scholarly support (3-5 references). Be sure to properly cite all references. 4. Apply critical thinking skills the the assignment component. 5. I will grade your paper on your ability to address the assignment criteria listed above with depth and breadth of discussion. I will also critique your writing format (i.e. proper reference citations, spacing, etc.). Your case paper will be further evaluated based on the following criteria: Precision (Excellent; Good; Average; Poor) · Each question and or assignment requirement is addressed in the paper · Accuracy of your answers, key points and supporting discussion Clarity (Excellent; Good; Average; Poor) · The paper is well organized, concise, reads clearly, and it is not confusing. Breadth (Excellent; Good; Average; Poor) · The paper presents appropriate breadth covering the assignment questions/requirements Depth (Excellent; Good; Average; Poor)
  • 3. · Presents key points that lead to deeper matters and issues · Integrates several points into coherent conclusions Critical Thinking (Excellent; Good; Average; Poor) · The paper demonstrates good understanding and synthesis of the module background material · Logically incorporates key concepts presented in the background material into the overall analyses, key points and supporting discussions · Presents well-reasoned conclusions and position as well as convincing arguments in support of the same Writing Mechanics · Grammar (Excellent; Good; Average; Poor) · Spelling (Excellent; Good; Average; Poor) · Vocabulary (Excellent; Good; Average; Poor) · Referencing (Excellent; Good; Average; Poor) Additional considerations to keep in mind while working on your case assignments: Originality and Use of directly quoted material · The purpose of each assignment is for you to present your understanding and synthesis of the background material and key concepts. Accordingly, this must be accomplished substantially in your own words. · Use directly quoted material sparingly and only when preserving the exact words of an author is necessary. For purposes of this course, rarely should directly quoted material represent more than 5-10 percent of your entire case paper’s content. Composing a paper patched together from mostly quoted material is not acceptable. · Be sure to properly reference all directly quoted material and include the in-text citations. All paraphrased information also requires reference citations at the end of the paraphrased section. Grades · A paper that answers all assignments questions and supports the same with good key points, well supported discussions and quality references will earn a solid “B” grade.
  • 4. · Please remember that “A” papers are exceptional works that go beyond just answering the questions and provide insightful answers. Case Assignment Please read the following article: Holden, M. J., Izzo, C., Nunno, M., Smith, E. G., Endres, T., Holden, J. C., & Kuhn, F. (2010). Children and residential experiences: A comprehensive strategy for implementing a research- informed program model for residential care. Child Welfare, 89(2), 131-49. 1. What were the issues that led to the implementation of the program? 2. Describe the program? 3. How will the implementation of the program resolve the issues mentioned in the first question? 4. If you were the manager of this program, what would identify as the positive aspects? 5. What changes would you make to improve the program? Expectations Assignment Expectations: 1. • 7. Format TUI encourages all students to comply with APA style and format guidelines for proper citation of references. For more information see Syllabus Home Page, APA Style and Format. Scholarly Content Your SLP and your case assignments are considered scholarly works. Your final work should include a MINIMUM of 10 peer reviewed (scholarly) sources. This does not mean that you must place 10 peer reviewed sources in each module of your Case/SLP. I anticipate that the nature of the questions which must be answered in this project will result in the accumulation of more than 10 references, but 10 is the minimum number. This means by the end of module 5, I should be able to go back and count AT A MINIMUM a total of 10 scholarly-peer reviewed publications in all of your submitted papers. If you are uncertain what a peer reviewed (scholarly) source is, please click this link Please keep in mind that you should not use sources such as “Answers.com” or “Wikipedia” or “Wikianswers”. None of these are scholarly sources and they can be “modified” by any registered user which makes it unreliable. It could very well be that those who modify subjects in Wikipedia have a very good knowledge of the subject, however, since we have no way of knowing their credentials or intentions, we cannot guarantee that the source is reliable. It is a good place to start, but should not be used as factual in graduate writing. For graduate study, be sure to stick to peer reviewed journals and scientific sources. The following site will help: http://www.csuchico.edu/lins/handouts/scholarly.html
  • 8. Appropriate Headings and Paper Flow Remember that you are preparing a formal academic paper. Your paper should make use of appropriate headings and subheadings. You should not cut & paste the questions posed and answer them like a “Question and Answer” session. Your finished paper should read like an academic paper.
