This document summarizes recent developments in ePub accessibility standards:
- EPub 3.1 focuses on better integrating WAI-ARIA specifications and adding metadata for discoverability, identification of audio/text synchronization, and braille.
- Enhancements include adopting the OPUS audio codec, adding audio labels to navigation, and improving media overlays.
- An accessibility profile is being developed to ensure requirements can be applied across different EPub specifications and profiles, and include testing for compliance.
This document discusses EPUB and the Open Web Platform as the foundation for education publishing. It provides an overview of the International Digital Publishing Forum and the EPUB standard. It then outlines the EDUPUB Alliance's efforts to develop specifications integrating EPUB 3, IMS standards, and other emerging standards to create a comprehensive model for exchanging and deploying educational content using open web standards. Public drafts of the EDUPUB profile and related specifications are now available for review and implementation.
This document proposes a new architecture for connecting educational applications and enabling innovation. It presents IMS Global Learning Consortium's open standards which allow learning tools, content, assessments and other systems to seamlessly integrate and exchange data through learning platforms. This architecture aims to spur an explosion of connected applications from developers and institutions to advance lifelong learning through interoperability.

cmi5 is a set of extra rules for the xAPI standard that defines plug-and-play interoperability between learning management systems (LMSs) and learning content activities. It addresses issues with previous standards like SCORM and improves features like allowing any data to be recorded, eliminating confusion over completion statuses, and better supporting hosted and online content. The cmi5 rules standardize how LMSs launch content and interact with the learning record store, allowing content to do more while maintaining compatibility. By serving as an example profile, cmi5 aims to accelerate adoption of the xAPI standard and enhance the capabilities of current LMS models.
This document outlines next steps for supporting Japanese script in web technologies. It recommends continuing work at the W3C on guidelines, tests, and indexes for vertical text, ruby markup and styling, internationalization, and typography. It also suggests re-establishing the Japanese script requirements task force to maintain documentation and prioritize gaps, and building a Japanese community to review standards, produce a roadmap, and demonstrate needs to implementers. Links to relevant repositories and specifications are provided.
