Choosing the MSc Innovation, Entrepreneurship &
Management Programme
I believe innovation and entrepreneurship complement each
other in every professional environment. They play an
integral part in achieving a sustainable advantage in today’s
fast moving world. To spot an opportunity and put yourself in
a position to exploit it, is the mark of a successful individual
or a firm. Be it the time of the industrial revolution or the
recent economic depression; firms that have survived and
succeeded have been driven by innovative ideas,
implemented by entrepreneurial minds. To learn to be able to
innovate while acting as an entrepreneur is the reason I
decided to undertake this particular programme.
Imperial College Business School is a pioneer in Innovation
and Entrepreneurship studies, and it is constantly ranked
amongst the best in the world. Students also have a chance
to get a front row view of the latest developments in this area
simply because the professors here are also leading
researchers who frequently publish their findings.
MSc Innovation, Entrepreneurship and Management at ICBS
is unique due to underlying factors which help the Business
School retain its competitiveness. First, being located in
London gives Imperial access to the corporate world, which
always demands innovative ideas. Second, Imperial College
is also known the world over for its first class engineering
and medical schools, this factor complements the Business
School in building successful incubators and technology
oriented business ideas. Lastly, Imperial College Business
School professors, lecturers and researchers are amongst
the best in the world; this year itself we have been taught by
four different professors who have published texts
specifically on innovation and management.
Experiencing the MSc Programme
As a student, one is always involved in exciting projects and
coursework, which are based on real and practical
examples. There is an energetic vibe in and around the
Business School which motivates me to make this
opportunity count. Overall, the experience within the
curriculum is incredible to say the least, and to represent the
Business School is an honour to cherish.
Most of the projects are based on group work, and
encourage positive integration. Probably the most interesting
feature of the projects is their practical setting. Students are
given a chance to go out and explore a real life situation. A
good example that comes to mind is the research project on
marketing techniques for a possible blue ocean product in an
existing firm. Open ended projects like this are exciting due

2. Favourite place in London and
why: Used to be Bond Street,
however, lately I have realised I
cannot have a favourite place in
London, it is too exciting a city for me
to have a favourite place!
to the lack of restrictions and I don’t recall anyone in our
class performing their research in a similar industry or
product type. I believe the overall structure of the projects
help students to innovate, which is without a shadow of doubt
the main objective of the programme.
The Business School is always buzzing with events like
seminars, guest lecturers and employer presentations. I like
to see these events as a continuous learning environment; hence learning does not stop when the
lecture ends at the business school. Students have the chance to explore more through these events,
and in many cases they help pave career paths, leading to a job offer in a firm of their choice.
Careers
The Careers and Professional Development Service at Imperial is the best in the UK. Not only do they
advise you on how to make your application, but they check every word of your cover letter and CV,
giving you tailored advice on how to land the perfect job. Further, career advisory sessions are part of
the programme, hence it not possible to miss out on their presence and support.
In the near future I expect to gather more industry experience, and strive to be a global citizen. I would
like to work in front office positions as previously stated, to build on my people skills. I believe building
a strong network, picking up essential soft skills and understanding external business environments
are the key goals I hope to achieve through this.
In the long­term I would prefer to leverage existing opportunities and take on an entrepreneurial role.
However, I would like to link this to my past experiences. I believe if I can develop my ideas in the
short­term into business ventures in the long­term, I can form a sustainable business which I
thoroughly believe in.
Life at the Business School and in the UK capital
The Imperial brand brings in students from every corner of the world. To put it in simple words ­
Imperial has given me the opportunity to experience diversity on a scale I have never seen before.
This diversity refers to culture, nationality and language, but it also stretches to educational
background and industry experience. An example of this is my programme which has 25 nationalities
and 10 different degree backgrounds in a cohort size of 73 and my current consulting project team ­ in
a team of seven students we cover 10 nationalities, 11 languages and 6 educational backgrounds,
such diversity empowers us to generate unique insights and create solutions that deliver innovative
outcomes.
I consider Imperial College Business School to be an innovation cluster as it has the potential to
harbour such a broad range of students, researchers and professors.
I have had the chance to work and study in the UK, USA, China and India, during this time I have
either stayed in or visited a number of cities. London, is simply the best place I have ever lived in. What
excites me about London is how it blends rich culture within a modern society. Further, the
underground transport is without a doubt the best in the world, and one can never stop exploring this
incredible metropolis.
If you had to pick 2 things about the MSc Management Programme that you enjoy the most what
would they be?
They would be the sense of innovation on the programme and the exten t of entrepreneurial spirit
amongst the cohort!
