Why is oral hygiene so important for good dental healthjacee kaylen
Periodontal disease and decay are both caused by bacterial plaque. Plaque is a colorless film, which sticks to your teeth at the gumline. Plaque constantly forms on your teeth. By thorough daily brushing and flossing you can remove these germs and help prevent periodontal disease.
Pregnant women should see the dentist regularly for cleanings and checkups, and during dental emergencies. The second trimester is generally the safest time for procedures requiring things like anesthesia or medication. Common oral health issues during pregnancy include gingivitis, increased tooth decay, and granulomas (swollen patches of gum tissue), due to increased hormones and bacteria in the mouth. Poor oral health has been linked to higher risks of preterm birth and low birthweight. Proper oral hygiene, dental visits, nutrition, and avoiding excessive snacking can help promote oral and overall health for mother and baby.

The document discusses the importance of oral hygiene for preventing dental diseases and maintaining overall health. It notes that over 3.5 billion people suffer from oral diseases according to the WHO, but many can be prevented through proper oral hygiene. Maintaining oral hygiene includes brushing teeth twice daily, flossing, cleaning the tongue, and visiting the dentist regularly. Poor oral hygiene can lead to dental caries, gum disease, and systemic issues like diabetes and heart disease.
People with diabetes have a higher chance of having periodontal (gum) disease, an infection of the gum and bone that hold the teeth in place. Periodontal disease can lead to pain, bad breath that doesn’t go away, chewing difficulties, and even tooth loss. Diabetes can also slow down healing, so it can interfere with treatment of periodontal disease.

Overall life span (LS) was 1671.7±1721.6 days and cumulative 5YS reached 62.4%, 10 years – 50.4%, 20 years – 44.6%. 94 LCP lived more than 5 years without cancer (LS=2958.6±1723.6 days), 22 – more than 10 years (LS=5571±1841.8 days). 67 LCP died because of LC (LS=471.9±344 days). AT significantly improved 5YS (68% vs. 53.7%) (P=0.028 by log-rank test). Cox modeling displayed that 5YS of LCP significantly depended on: N0-N12, T3-4, blood cell circuit, cell ratio factors (ratio between cancer cells-CC and blood cells subpopulations), LC cell dynamics, recalcification time, heparin tolerance, prothrombin index, protein, AT, procedure type (P=0.000-0.031). Neural networks, genetic algorithm selection and bootstrap simulation revealed relationships between 5YS and N0-12 (rank=1), thrombocytes/CC (rank=2), segmented neutrophils/CC (3), eosinophils/CC (4), erythrocytes/CC (5), healthy cells/CC (6), lymphocytes/CC (7), stick neutrophils/CC (8), leucocytes/CC (9), monocytes/CC (10). Correct prediction of 5YS was 100% by neural networks computing (error=0.000; area under ROC curve=1.0).

8 Surprising Reasons To Meditate 40 Minutes A Day That Can Change Your Life.pptxHolistified Wellness
We’re talking about Vedic Meditation, a form of meditation that has been around for at least 5,000 years. Back then, the people who lived in the Indus Valley, now known as India and Pakistan, practised meditation as a fundamental part of daily life. This knowledge that has given us yoga and Ayurveda, was known as Veda, hence the name Vedic. And though there are some written records, the practice has been passed down verbally from generation to generation.

2. Overview
• A healthy and beautiful smile can win hearts. But, do you know your
oral health says more than an attractive smile! Dentists tell a lot
about your overall health including whether or not you may be
developing a disease like diabetes. Of late, research suggests that
the health of your mouth mirrors the condition of your body as a
whole. For example, when your mouth is healthy, chances are your
overall health is good. On the other hand, if you have poor oral
health, you may have other health problems. Research also
suggests that good oral health may actually prevent certain
diseases from occurring.
4. Gum disease and health
complications
• According to the Academy of General Dentistry, there is a relationship
between gum (periodontal disease) and health complications such as
a stroke and heart disease. Higher incidences of pre-term, low birth
weight babies are found in women with gum disease. Other research
shows that more than 90 percent of all systemic diseases (diseases
involving many organs or the whole body) have oral manifestations,
including swollen gums, mouth ulcers, dry mouth and excessive gum
problems. Such diseases include Diabetes, Leukemia, Oral cancer,
Pancreatic cancer, Hear disease, Kidney disease. So, it's advisable to
go for regular oral check-ups so that your dentist can diagnose a
health problem in its earlier stages.
5. Poor oral health can lead to
problems
Taking care of your teeth and gums is absolutely necessary. If you
don't take care of your teeth and gums your poor oral hygiene can lead
to other health problems including:
•Oral and facial pain – According to the Office of the Surgeon General,
this pain may be largely due to infection of the gums that support teeth
and can lead to tooth loss. Gingivitis, an early stage of gum disease
and advanced gum disease affect many of the population.
Continue in next slide
6. Continue
• Problems with the heart and other major organs – Major organs of
the body are affected by mouth infections. For example, the heart
and heart valves can get inflamed by bacterial endocarditis, a
condition that affects people with heart disease or anyone with
damaged heart tissue.
• Digestion problems – Digestion begins with physical and chemical
processes in the mouth, and problems here can lead to intestinal
failure, irritable bowel syndrome and other digestive disorders.
8. What you can do
• Visit your dentist regularly. That can help your mouth to stay in top
shape and can allow your dentist to watch for developments that
may point to other health issues. A dental exam can also detect
poor nutrition and hygiene, growth and development problems and
improper jaw alignment. You should provide your dentist with your
complete medical history and inform him or her about any recent
health developments, even if they seem unrelated to your oral
health.
9. Here are some good oral hygienes
that you can practice at home
• Brush at least for two to three minutes, at least twice a day, with
fluoridated toothpaste.
• Floss daily to remove plaques from places your toothbrush can't reach.
Use dental floss picks to floss your teeth.
• Eat a healthy diet to provide the nutrients necessary (vitamins A and C, in
particular) to prevent gum disease.
• Avoid cigarettes and smokeless tobacco, which can lead to gum disease
and oral cancer.
• Exercise preventive care and schedule regular dental check-ups to keep
your periodontal and other health issues at bay.
