2. Key Genre Conventions
Upon realising that a normal movie would have a girl as the main
character, the convention should be challenged in Dirty Sheets to
make a girl be the bad guy and a man be the main character as
to bring out the old idea of women being demons and the
chance that any woman could be a witch back in the olden days
of superstition.
3. Narrative
Based on research of horror films the trailer had to be dark and
involve a lot of death, but a simple killer wasn’t going to be
enough so further research brought on the idea of a new motive
that plays on the emotions of the characters and in turn makes
the plot seem more ominous.
4. Representation
Each character was going to be represented as a stereotype to
follow the standard conventions of a horror trailer, this idea was
changed minimally as each movie has a unique twist on certain
stereotypes and this effect would add a special flare to the
movies character development, The stereotypes will be followed
but not necessarily to perfection but with opposites added in as
well.
5. Audiences and Institutions
The initial audience for the film was going to be slasher fans that
love to see someone get stabbed a million and one times,
although this wasn’t enough so a new plot was devised to bring
in murder mystery fans and fans of psychological thrillers so that
the target audience would expand a lot more.
6. Audiences and Institutions part 2
The questionnaire that was sent out brought back results that
showed us the main audience was going to be female based
which is definitely not what is considered normal to the
statistics, so the story was changed one last time to
accommodate an appropriate motive for the murderer so that
women could find a reason to relate to the murderer.
