IKEA wants its coworkers to feel important so that they will be able to express their ideas and feel
responsible for improving the way things are done (Larsson, Brousseau, Driver, Holmqvist &

As the president of IKEA, Kamprad has undoubtedly done a great job of management on his
business empire. As Michael K. McCuddy mentioned in the article, Kamprad has his management
philosophy. He encourages his employees always asking themselves why they are doing these works
and how they can do differently instead of following traditional methods, which can be applied not
only in large matters but daily tasks. For instance, one of the distinct features with IKEA is its
flatpack idea, which was invented accidentally. From this small case, we can see their employees
work with a full of passion rather than work like a robot. This is what Kamprad, as an excellent
manager, teaches their employees about problem–solving (Nelson & Quick 187). Kamprad certainly
has many characteristics of an ideal leader. Firstly, he is using himself as an example to show his
employees. Even though he is the president of the company, he still strictly adheres rules and lives
frugally, which can literally convince all employees and form a positive atmosphere within the
company. As we see in the article, managers of IKEA are spontaneously saving money while
making business trips. Secondly, he dares to admit his mistakes in front of all his employees. This
