About the Client As a local cycling enthusiast, iFactory’s own Technical/Managing Director Julian Drake is one of three developers of a brand new web and mobile app called Pelofy. Currently in beta release, the web app boasts an ever-increasing number of users worldwide. The app means an end to late night, bleary-eyed texts and miscommunication for cyclists. Client Objective The aim of Pelofy is to bring the social aspects of cycling together in a web and mobile app, allowing users to discover, plan and share rides. Users can create recurring or one-off rides complete with start time, location, distance, speed and scheduled stops. Users can then join or withdraw from rides by “checking in” or “checking out”, and can follow individual riders or groups as they coordinate rides in their area. iFactory Solution iFactory has partnered to design and build Pelofy, which is hosted externally on Amazon Web Services. The web app uses AngularJS framework with components from Bootstrap (HMTL5, CSS & Javascript), while the mobile app (still in production) uses Ionic with AngularJS. As the target market will predominantly access the app via smartphone, the mobile app will be compatible across all platforms including iOS, Android, Windows Phone and Blackberry (made possible through PhoneGap). Key components of the site include Google Maps integration with geolocation search, and social media integration to “share” rides with friends. It has an intuitive user interface to add comprehensive ride details, “follow” riders/groups, and “check in” to rides. The dynamic design uses powerful images, clean lines, iconography and a high-contrast colour palette.
