IDFC Green Finance tracking methodology
Two step approach
A definition for mitigation, adaptation and other environmental projects / no overlapping choice
A core list of eligible project categories or sub-sectors that were consensually accepted by all IDFC members as projects that typically contribute to tackling climate change / specific vulnerability condition for adaptation
Collection data organized via a customized financial survey tool.

Regularly Improving tracking process and scope of data (geographical distribution per category in 2013)

main issues for the future
A solid methdology after three years of improvment :
Sufficiently robust in terms of definition
Easily understandable
Proved to be adapted to a wide range of different financial institution and information system
Possible improvement on : budget support type of investments = non affected to an investment (concern few IDFC institution)
Room for improvement of the tracking process :
Efficiency of the data collection. IDFC specificity : large group, different capacities : training, support, IS adaptation…
