5. Focus Area of Education Track
■ Are classroom teachers, curriculum specialists, technology advocates, librarians, administrators, professional PD
trainers, and other education professionals who are committed to geo-literacy and using maps to address social or
environmental challenges
■ Are employed at a nonprofit or consult for nonprofits that focus on bringing awareness of critical issues to
classroom environments (whether they are traditional (ie. school) or informal (ie. museums, summer
programmes).
■ Demonstrate ability to implement and make effective use of Google technology within their organization.
■ Examples: Google Docs, Drive, Sheets, Classroom, Earth, My Maps, Street View
■ Are currently working on mapping projects, or have datasets they want to map.
■ Possess training experience and intend to train others within their organization or in the larger
nonprofit/education community on Google mapping technology.
■ Have a passion for creatively integrating technology into experiential learning and able to conduct an activity in
your classroom based on ideas generated during the workshop.
