 An approach which focuses on the learner acquiring

skills.
 Allows the learner to gain knowledge by doing and
interacting with specific learning tools.
 ICTs are used in the curriculum to enhance teaching
and learning.
 Allows students the opportunity to learn through
exposure to real life situations and issues.
LEARNING APPROACH
A synergy of:
 Open-ended questions.
 Collaboration and communication.
 Use of different ICT tools.
 Exposure to real life situations and issues.
ROLE OF THE EDUCATOR
Involves:
 Structuring tasks to be learner-centered.
 Creating tasks which support problem-solving and
critical thinking.
 Ensuring that ICT tools to be utilized by students are
aligned with curriculum objectives.
 Ensuring that an inclusive classroom is maintained.
 Becoming involved in the learning process, constantly
motivating the students and allowing them to critically
assess their performance and that of their peers.
DEVELOPING A STRATEGY TOWARDS
CURRICULUM INTEGRATION WITH ICT
 A review of present curriculum in order to make

learning culturally relevant.
 Provide training for teachers in utilizing and selecting
relevant ICTs in keeping with curriculum outcomes.
 Knowledge of the students, their capabilities and
needs.
 Providing an environment (real life situations and
issues) that is stimulating, interesting and fun while
integrating and students becoming engaged with ICTs.
DEVELOPING A STRATEGY CONT’D
 Utilize where necessary the just-in-time learning
strategy.
 Forming communities of practice to model best
practices and for support.

 Assessment of strategy after implementation.
CONCLUSION
 The integrated approach is learner-centered.
 Utilizes different ICTs, learning tools /materials and

issues to enhance learning.
 Develops creativity, problem solving and critical
thinking skills.
 Fosters collaboration and communication.
