Icinga is an open source enterprise monitoring system that checks resources for availability, notifies users of outages, and provides business intelligence data. It was originally forked from Nagios in 2009 and released its independent version Icinga 2 in 2014. The talk introduced Icinga 2's architecture, advantages like easy configuration and scaling, and security features. It demonstrated configuration in the new object format and discussed Icinga's community support and integration vision.
