It can be a challenge finding the balance between motivation to change and acceptance of where you are. It is easy to become self-critical rather than self-loving as you focus on losing weight, improving health and changing your body. This workshop reminded people that weight loss and body changes are exciting and should be celebrated, but we can get into trouble when we put weight loss on too high of a pedestal and we become obsessed with the body. Esteem is a simple word. It is worth and value that we apply to people, places, and situations. It is the amount of respect we assess. We have esteem for our world leaders. We have esteem for places like church and synagogue. We have esteem for an exemplary performance whether it is in sports, acting, or simply doing the right thing.
But the most important place we need to apply esteem is within ourselves. We must maintain our self-esteem in order to place value on ourselves as a worthy individual in the world.
Self-esteem can affect every single part of our lives. If our esteem is low, our lives will be dull and gray. Elevating esteem for ourselves is a crucial key to happiness in life.
Most people's feelings and thoughts about themselves fluctuate somewhat based on their daily experiences. The grade you get on an exam, how your friends treat you, ups and downs in a romantic relationship – all can have a temporary impact on your well-being.
Your own self-esteem, however, is something more fundamental than the normal "ups and downs" associated with situational changes. For people with healthy basic self- esteem, normal "ups and downs" may lead to temporary fluctuations in how they feel about themselves, but only to a limited extent. In contrast, for people with poor basic self-esteem, these "ups and downs" may make all the difference in the world.
People with poor self-esteem often rely on how they are doing in the present to determine how they feel about themselves. They need positive external experiences to counteract the negative feelings and thoughts that constantly plague them. Even then, the good feeling (from a good grade, compliment from a boss, loving words from a family member or friend, etc.) can be temporary.
Healthy self-esteem is based on our ability to assess ourselves accurately (know ourselves) and still be able to accept and to value ourselves unconditionally. This means being able to realistically acknowledge our strengths and limitations (which is part of being human) and at the same time accepting ourselves as worthy and worthwhile without conditions or reservations.
What we want to do is help you raise your self-esteem to levels that will enhance your life and the way you view life. It can make a tremendous difference in your quality of life. Learning techniques to raise self-esteem can be taught and put into practice in just a few days. However, it will take commitment and consistent practice to keep your healthy self-worth nurtured and nourished in your daily life.

There is increasing confidence that cell therapies will soon play a role in the treatment of autoimmune disorders, but the extent of this impact remains to be seen. Early readouts on autologous CAR-Ts in lupus are encouraging, but manufacturing and cost limitations are likely to restrict access to highly refractory patients. Allogeneic CAR-Ts have the potential to broaden access to earlier lines of treatment due to their inherent cost benefits, however they will need to demonstrate comparable or improved efficacy to established modalities.
In addition to infrastructure and capacity constraints, CAR-Ts face a very different risk-benefit dynamic in autoimmune compared to oncology, highlighting the need for tolerable therapies with low adverse event risk. CAR-NK and Treg-based therapies are also being developed in certain autoimmune disorders and may demonstrate favorable safety profiles. Several novel non-cell therapies such as bispecific antibodies, nanobodies, and RNAi drugs, may also offer future alternative competitive solutions with variable value propositions.
Widespread adoption of cell therapies will not only require strong efficacy and safety data, but also adapted pricing and access strategies. At oncology-based price points, CAR-Ts are unlikely to achieve broad market access in autoimmune disorders, with eligible patient populations that are potentially orders of magnitude greater than the number of currently addressable cancer patients. Developers have made strides towards reducing cell therapy COGS while improving manufacturing efficiency, but payors will inevitably restrict access until more sustainable pricing is achieved.
Despite these headwinds, industry leaders and investors remain confident that cell therapies are poised to address significant unmet need in patients suffering from autoimmune disorders. However, the extent of this impact on the treatment landscape remains to be seen, as the industry rapidly approaches an inflection point.

- 3. Biggest culprit of poor body image… We see ourselves as not enough
- 4. 1. When we focus on change, it’s easy to start feeling inadequate or “not enough.”
- 6. 3. Social Norms: - Fearing failure and, along with that, the illusion of perfection - Embracing self-hate before accepting vulnerability - Self-deprecation and rejection of compliments - The “Mean Coach” approach - Comparing
- 7. 4. Confusion about confidence
- 8. How do we improve our body image? Again, it’s not about what, but how.
- 9. Instead of looking at body through lens of - Judgment - Inadequacy / Not Enough - Cruel Social Norms - Expertise and perfection as roots of Confidence Look through a lens of curiosity, love, kindness.
- 10. 1. When we focus on change, it’s easy to start feeling inadequate or “not enough.” Instead of feeling bad about what you are not, celebrate what you are. Motivate differently Embrace curiosity over judgment
- 11. Culture’s reliance on “you’re not good enough” to sell us products. Be Aware Know that feelings are just feelings
- 12. Unhealthy social norms - Fearing failure: Be proud and embrace your power, even the power to try something you can’t ensure you’ll be amazing at. - Embracing self-hate: Too bad. You’re vulnerable.

Unhealthy social norms - Self deprecation and rejection of compliments: STOP IT! - The “Mean Coach” Approach: Be a good coach - Comparing: Know that you are supposed to be you. “Everybody is a genius. But if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it will live its whole life believing that it is stupid.” - Albert Einstein
- 30. Confusion about Confidence Confidence is the authentic outward expression of what you are experiencing, thinking and believing inwardly. Confidence is acting boldly in a way that aligns with your values. Confidence is being sure that you want to play the game even if you don’t know if the final score leaves you as the winner or loser.
