This project examines drainage and ponding issues in an area between buildings on Clemson University's campus. Large rainfall events cause runoff from the steep hillside to accumulate in a low-lying area, creating flooding and erosion. Simulations show that changing the hillside's soil type from clay loam to grass loam and planting more sod would significantly reduce runoff and soil loss. Implementing these changes to the slope is proposed to solve the ponding problem by decreasing the amount of water flowing into the flooded area.
