4. Robot and Robotics
Robot is a machine capable of carrying out a complex series of
actions automatically.
Robotics is the intersection of science, engineering and technology
that produces machines, called robots.
Types
Pre-Programmed Robots
Autonomous Robots
Teleoperated Robots
Humanoid Robots

5. Humanoid robot (Andro Humanoid robot)
Figure: Valkyrie
Robot with its body shape built to
resemble the human body structure and
behavior.
Robot have a torso, a head, two arms,
and two legs.
Examples :-
Valkyrie from NASA
NAO developed by Aldebaran Robotics
Rashmi developed by Ranjit
Shrivastava
Sophia developed Hanson Robotics
ASIMO by Honda

6. Artificial Intelligence (AI)
AI refers to the simulation of human intelligence in machines that are
programmed to think like humans and mimic their actions.
AI is the brain of Humanoid robots.
Functions AI do in Humanoid robots :-
Natural Language processing (NLP)
Computer Vision (CV)
Generate human like expressions
Think like human
Feel like human etc.
Companies are being researching AI for several years.

7. Why we need Humanoid robot?
Humanoid robots are being developed to perform human tasks like
personal assistance, through which they should be able to assist the sick
and elderly, and dirty or dangerous jobs.

8. Sophia
Figure: Sophia
Developed by Hong Kong-based
company Hanson Robotics.
In October 2017, Sophia ”became” a
Saudi Arabian citizen, the first robot to
receive citizenship of any country.
Ability is learn human behaviours
through her interaction with people.

9. ASIMO (Advanced Step in Innovative Mobility)
Figure: ASIMO
World’s most advanced humanoid robot.
Humanoid robot created by Honda in 2000.
Currently displayed in the Miraikan museum in
Tokyo, Japan.
