2. WHAT IS SOCIAL MEDIA?
Social media refers to the means of interactions among people in which they
create,share, and or exchange information and ideas in virtual communities
and networks.
The office of communications and Marketing manages the main Facebook,
Twitter, Instagram, Linkedin and Youtube accounts.

3. HOW THE SOCIAL MEDIA WILL DESTROY THE NEXT GENERATION
Addiction to social media sites has been linked to a range mental issues,
including depression, anxity, and low self-esteem.
It can also lead to sleep deprivation, which can have a range of negative effects
on our physical and mental health. Social media has exploded in popularity
over the last decade.

4. NEGATIVE IMPACT ON MENTAL HEALTH
These negative effects including cyberbullying, the spread of
misinformation, addiction, the decline in face –to –face communication,
self-esteem issues, social isolation, polarization, and echo chambers,
cyber stalking and harassment, a decrease in privacy, and comparison
and envy.

5. ADDICTION AND PRODUCTIVITY LOSS
Social Media Effects On the Brain
Studies show that the use of social media greatly reduces one’s attention
span. In a test, heavy social media users found it more difficult to shift
focus between atsks than those who used the platforms moderately.

6. BODY IMAGE ISSUES
Body image issues are a common problem.
In a society that promotes unrealistic body ideals, it is challenging
to not get caught up in comparing oneself to those unrealistic
standards. As a result , many individuals may experiences
depression , anxiety , anger and even self –loathing.

7. DISTRACTION AND TIME MANAGEMENT
Time management and distractions are two major issues that might arise
while using social media.
Students who spend too much time on social media may struggle with
time management and become less productive in the classroom.
