Social media allows for sharing ideas and information through virtual networks and communities on the internet. It involves using websites and apps on computers, tablets, and smartphones to engage with others and share personal information, documents, videos, and photos. While it provides a huge potential audience and real-time feedback at low cost, social media can also decrease face-to-face communication skills and convey inauthentic expressions while facilitating laziness. However, some have earned money from social media by expressing themselves and becoming celebrities on platforms like Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and Snapchat. For youth, high social media use can negatively impact self-esteem while also exposing them to online bullying.
