This document summarizes the evolution of CrisisCamp, an organization that coordinates volunteers to provide technical assistance during humanitarian crises, into CrisisCommons. It began as a way to rapidly mobilize volunteers through unstructured "barcamp"-style events but faced challenges around competition, inadequate infrastructure, and lack of coordination. It has since evolved to take a more collaborative "commons" approach, convening communities and leveraging partnerships and networks to translate needs and provide technical assistance, with the goal of building an open knowledge base of lessons learned.
