Unit Test (UNIT) — Unit testing is the first phase of full feature testing, and is
performed on the development sidestream. It tests all new and modified
software components. Its objective is to fully test all new and modified code
paths and ensure that the changes have no unintended impact on the system
and existing features. Unit test cases are also used to test the software after
integration of the software from the development sidestream to the mainstream.
Feature Verification / Integration Test (FV) — Feature Verification and
Integration testing is done on the maintream with other new features integrated
