Greek God Of War Research Paper
Ares: god of war
Ares is the god of war, the son of the great god Zeus, the god of lighting and the sky and Hera, the
goddess of marriage and family, but in some legends Ares and his twin sister Eris, goddess of
discord was born when Hera touched a flower ( Ares ). Similar to many other gods and
goddesses Ares was big and powerful. Ares did not rule over anything but was the symbol of war.
The reason that he probably did not have a domain over anything was because he was just the god
of war not the sky and lightning like Zeus. Ares was his Greek name and Mars was his Roman
name. Mars and Ares were two different people and the Romans liked Ares more than the Greeks
did. I don t know why but there was a different name for the greek and roman god Ares. Mars was
originally a fertility god, associated with spring and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Ares did have some love affairs with Aphrodite though. Ares also had a daughter and had a few
son who became kings, warriors, and even a bandit. It does not mention anything about his son and
does not even say how many he had. Even though Ares was a good warrior he had been defeated
before by Athena, his half sister who beat him twice, another when one of Gigantic sons of
Aloeus, and also when when Hercules sent him running back to mountain Olympus for his own
safety(Pontikis). Even though it may be hard to believe Ares was not the best fighter in
mythology. Some interesting facts about him is that his animal is a dog and his bird is a
vulture. The reason why is because the vultures were the ones that feed on the dead bodies left
on the battlefield and were seen as sacred birds and dogs were sacrificed right before battle at his
temples for good luck in battle( Ares ). That is something that many people could probably expect
from Ares though. Ares was also involved in the trojan war and it was one thousand years before
Christ. He was a good fighter so of course he would want to fight in any war or battle that he

Understanding Teens Who Self Injure Essay
Understanding Teens Who Self Injure Imagine being sixteen years old and taking a razor to
your arm because you feel so much pain inside that cutting is the only way to escape it. For a lot
of people this idea seems strange and incomprehensible, but for many teenagers this is their
reality. In a society with so much abuse, neglect and crime children are facing things that they
never had to face in the past. Adolescents who are lacking more positive coping skills are turning
to self injurious behaviors to ease their pain and frustration. In recent years the issue of self
injurious behaviors or SIB (White Kress, 2003) has increased in popularity. The general public is

?The object wasn?t to make myself bleed to death, just to let go of the ugly feelings holding me
hostage feelings that would leave me at the sight of blood? (Pederson, as quoted in Zila Kiselica,
2001). SIB includes a wide range of behaviors including head banging, hair pulling, skin cutting,
self hitting, and skin burning. SIB is typically found in early adolescence but can become a
chronic behavior that carries on into adulthood. Most research focuses on females who self
injure because it is found that, while males do self injure many more females do it. We also
need to take into consideration that females tend to be more help seeking than males; so many
more males may be self injuring than we know. Zila and Kiselica define the typical self mutilator
as female, adolescent or young adult, single, usually from upper middle class family and
intelligent. It is found that one in four teenage girls cut (Barnard, 2004). SIB can be classified
into four categories: Stereotypic SIB, Major SIB, Compulsive SIB and Impulsive SIB (White
Kress, 2003). Each of the four categories corresponds with and tends to be more prevalent with
various DSM IV mental disorders. The following will describe each of the four categories in
detail. Stereotypic SIB The kind of behaviors that can be classified under Stereotypic SIB include
head banging, self hitting and slapping, self biting, and hair pulling. These kind of

Public management over a course of time has seen an influx in societal workforce dilemmas which
have rapidly transformed organizational structures in government to how HR professional translate
policies and procedures. As public events continue to rise and the demands for spontaneous,
strategic, and creative solutions are sought after effortlessly, society is faced with the need to
revisit how to successfully manage a diverse workforce. A workforce that is composed of (1)

Gary Hamel (2011) spoke on the essence of: the reinvention of management techniques which,
challenged managers to rethink how they perform operational functions; in order to, create a solid
structure within the current market. Additionally, his [Hamel] presentation broke the seal on
stagnate managers and a need to reinvent themselves. Often in many organizational cultures there
lays very rigid, traditional and obsolete practices which struggles to remain existent. Organizations
are now flooded with multigenerational groups; where baby boomers sought to develop their
succession plan exit; now baby boomer are forecasted to have an large representation within the
future workforce alongside generation X and Y s. In the past, managers were more seasoned,
traditional in administration processes and managed a younger workforce. Due to the current
market shift [and potentially the future], managers are comprised of recent college graduates,
ingenuities on developments, and overseers of both seasoned and youthful employees. The idea of
managing the future workforce will require nuggets given by Gary Hamal (2011): (1) Challenge the
change which is currently changing, (2) construct innovations that involves everyone, and (3)
manage the diversified commodity of knowledge effectively. Authors, Martha Crumpacker and Jill

b)Solid State Drive (SSD) Assuming we all are familiar with USB memory stick, an SSD is can
be considered as an oversized and more complicated version of the USB stick. Unlike the HDDs,
there are no moving parts in the SSDs. Thus, it stores data in microchips and is faster than the

The price of SSDs is comparatively higher so as its performances relatively faster than HDDs

5.Customizing and Configuring PC Components The previous steps (1 thru 4) describe the various
components of the computers available in today s market and suggest the users for making an
efficient choice for customizing their PCS. This is the most important section of the document and
it deals with the assembling, configuration, and installation the PC components. Even though this
task cannot be detailed in a short document of this length, I will try my best to summarize the
process in a simplest possible manner. The assembling of the software components of PC can
easily be done by using some of the available online resources. Therefore, I have intentionally
excluded those steps to shorten the document. The users of this guide are urged to refer available
online videos for additional references concerning this subject and any other information they might
need. Customization of a PC can be done just by replacing a single component or multiple
components. Whether the customizing is for improving the performance or for replacing a broken
component, making a mindset for customizing comes in first place. Users are required to buy
desired component/components following the guidelines provided in the earlier section of this
guide. Since, customizing requires the installation of one or more components based on the user s
preference and necessities, I am giving brief guidelines for installing the system unit followed by its

Women In Athens Research Paper
The great city state of Athens was established around 3000 B.CВ№ and was named after the Greek

Physics Of Running
The Physics Of Running
Mokhtar Miguil 10A
Running is a sport that is very much connected to physics. Scientists have done many significant
research in the past on the physics of running, and I will try to discuss some of the main aspects of
it here.
There are are many forces acting upon a runner when he/she is pushing off the ground with one
foot. The force Fx is the horizontal force due to the contact between the runner s foot and the
ground, and the force Fy is the vertical force due to the contact between the runner s foot and the
ground. The force Fg is the force due to gravity which pulls down on the runner. This force acts
through the center of mass of the runner, represented by the purple dot. During a run the force Fy
is greater than Fg in order to lift the runner off the ground as he runs.
An Olympic sprinter can push off the ground with a total peak force of more than 1000 pounds
(with a time averaged Fx equal to about 200 pounds, which is less than the peak Fx). In contrast,
the average person can apply 500 600 pounds of total peak force. Reference: http:/

The physics in running is very interesting to high level athletes who strive to optimise their
everyday performance because If they know and fully understand the forces acting upon them while
they are running it will help them to improve their running. Utilising a expert coaching and state of
the art training facilities runners spend most of their careers trying to improve their technique and
speed to do this you must first understand the science behind sport. For most people, the physics
behind running is hardly given a second thought. But when medals, such as Olympic medals, are on
the line then such thoughts become commonplace and turn into active areas of

Murder Crime Remains
Murder/ crime mystery is a popularly watched genre on television. These shows display the actions
and job descriptions of forensic anthropologists, however, due to time requirements and for the
interest of the plot, there are many aspects that are not preformed or done so inaccurately.
Specifically, these inaccuracies mainly fall into two overall processes, recovery and laboratory
analysis. In season six episode ten of Bones, the FBI and the scientists from the Jeffersonian
Institute investigate a murder of set of remains found in a hot, running shower. For the most part,
these remains are fleshed, with the exception of hair and small bone fragments that were flushed
down the drain. An important mistake made by the team was incorrectly collecting... Show more

Temperance Brennan s initial analysis of the remains at the scene, she made the conclusion that
the victim was female and in her mid twenties. Although the information is accurate, her
statement was premature. When identifying the age and sex portion of the biological profile,
Forensic Anthropologists often look at multiple indicators before making a decision. This is
due to the range in features the bones can display. For example, a 90В° angle of the mandible is
a trait congruent in males, however it is not exclusive. Different parts of the skeleton also
display a range of indicators in regard to the age of the individual. Age is measured by the
amount of growth or degeneration the remains have experienced. Usually, degeneration correlates
with older age, however the nutrition and habits of the individual can speed up the process. For
example, a young but fully developed female runner may not show much signs of degeneration in
her upper extremities as she does on her lower extremities, specifically her knee joints. If
anthropologists were to look only at the individual s knees, they would most likely estimate a
much older age. In order for Dr. Brennan to accurate, the skeleton should have been further
evaluated to conclusively state the sex and age of the biological

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Led Lights
Everything in this world comes with its benefits and disadvantages. With this, here are some of
the advantages and disadvantages of the LED street lights. Advantages of the LED street lights
include the following 1.Lower consumption of energy Most of the LED lighting retrofits are said
to dramatically reduce the energy used. However, in the actual facts, studies have shown that
lower energy consumption is tied and limited to reduced levels of illumination. 2.Has
predictable and long lifetime The lifespan of the LED street lights is between 10 to 15 years.
This lifespan in 2 to 4 times the lifespan of the current prevalent HPS. The LED products do not
fail like the other light sources or barring catastrophic failure of the other electronic or
mechanical components of the LED fixtures. The lifetime of a product is typically set by
decreasing luminous output by 30 percent. However, the functional lifespan of any LED fixture is
usually limited by the weakest link. The associated drive electronics are projected to last for about
50,000 hours. It is very crucial to understand that there is no LED streetlight product that has been
in service for this long so that it can be used to... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
LEDs color rendering is more accurate The color rendering index of the LEDs is basically the
ability of the light source to reproduce colors of the objects correctly in comparison with an ideal
light source. An improved color rendering index makes it simpler for drivers to easily recognize
the objects. 4.You can quickly turn on and off Unlike the high intensity discharge lamps (HID) and
fluorescent lamps such as metal halide, mercury vapor as well as sodium vapor lamps, it takes time
to heat up once the switched in turned on. The LEDs usually come with full brightness instantly.
5.Instant restart Unlike the metal halide, sodium vapor and mercury vapor lamps, the LEDs do not
have any problem when restarting immediately that maybe due to inadvertent turn off or brief power

The Wild Of The Innocent
Through the Eyes of the Innocent
Whether you ride English or Western saddle we can all agree that the horse contains a special
place in our hearts. The one thing you need to know about horses, says Jim Stitt, is they love to
work and perform. (Fong, Petty. It Was Urban Vs Cowboys in Fight for Animal Rights.) The horse
has been used all throughout history from the Spanish Conquistadors to the Englishman during the
American Revolution. Now horses can be found on race tracks, rodeos, shows, large and small
farms, and slaughter homes. Even though some horse owners claim abuse is nothing more than
discipline, and horse meat is high in protein, low in fat, and helps slaughter homes gain bigger
profits and investment from overseas companies, horse abuse and slaughter should not be taken
lightly because it is inhumane to abuse a horse to the brink of death and claim it is discipline, most
slaughter homes are in insalubrious conditions and environments, and most horse abuse is done
inside slaughter homes.
Discipline is no longer discipline when the horse is at the brink of death. The type of abuse
depends on the activities the horses do. Abuse and Discipline are two different things. One is not
followed by the other. Discipline is used to correct and train a horse to not make the same mistake
over again. Abuse is used to torment and torture the horse for no reason until the horse is dead.
That quality that we love is also a quality that allows people to abuse them... They

The Undivided Declaration Of Rowland High School
In Rowland High School, October 6, 2014.
The Undivided Declaration of Rowland High School,
When in the course of human events, it becomes imperative to shake off the bands of repeated
name callings and falsely given identities which have been connected for so long, and to assume
that the playing field is once again even, giving your undivided attention and respect to the opinions
of the unheard and abandoned as they state why they have decided to stand up against the bullying
and how they plan to write how to isolate themselves from bullying altogether.
We hold these truths to be axiomatic: that all students, no matter their background, ethnicity, or
rank, are created equal in status and in identity; no student is higher than the other. Each student is
equipped with secure and unalienable Rights; that among these rights are Respect, Rightful
Identity, and Freedom of Speech. We also believe that rules are formed to protect these certain
rights and that the power of these rules comes from the power of the students; whenever any part
of the rule fails to protect these rights, it is the right of the students to change it and to form a new
rule that follows such principles which organizes its powers to end in Security and Happiness. Fair
judgment, as a matter of fact, will ordain to say that long prevailing consequences should not be
changed because of trivial, temporary, or fleeting reasons; and, in fact, history proves that students
are more likely to suffer the bullying,

Driving The Cost Of Higher Education
Driving the Cost of Higher Education It seems as though the correct step for young people to
follow after high school is college. We are constantly told that if we wish to be successful, then
we must get a degree. However, with the rising costs, it s seeming like fewer people are willing or
able to take the next step into higher education. Cries about the sheer insanity of the rising costsblur
into a cacophony of anger and frustration. The discussion of whether it s even worth the costhave
also begun becoming popular, though this is its own discussion and shall not be explored here.
What is of interest here is the underlying motor of the cost increase. Since 1978, the first year that
the Bureau of Labor and Statistics included college... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Perhaps this is because their costs do not react as fast to market forces as does the private sector.
Prices are normally set, and then remain relatively stable regardless of the day to day changes in
the market. A private business can, and will, change its prices in order to maintain an equilibrium of
supply and demand. During a recession, this means lowering prices in order to combat the
lowering demand for their products. Colleges and Universities on the other hand react
differently to a recession. They raise their prices to combat budget cuts from the State and
Federal levels. They still have their costs for teaching their students, and these costs do not
normally change as quickly as the overall CPI. This would lead to the belief that college prices
would fall again at the end of a recession, but colleges and universities are always hesitant to
lower tuition. Coupled with the slower reaction time of colleges from market forces, the price
stays at its elevated level far into the economic recovery. It would seem that the Economics 101
story around higher education for the past few decades would go something like this: for various
reasons, government has decided to increase demand for higher education massively, via increased
subsidies, and in particular student loans; meanwhile, supply has not kept up. This is because non
profit universities get paid in prestige and therefore have an objective

Owl Pellet Lab Report
Lab Report: Owl Pellet
Kirsten de Jong
September 19, 2015
1.An owl pellet is made up of portions of things which an owl can t digest. The pellet can contain
things like feathers, bones, fur, and teeth, these things have very little nutritional value to the owl.
These things are tightly formed together in the owl s stomach, which is then spit out by the owl
every 12 hours producing two every day.
2.Owl pellets are home and food for many different fungi and insects. Fumigation is the removal
of any small insects, germs, or other pests from a room or other area, with the use of gases or
smoke. It is necessary for the pellet to be fumigated so there is nothing growing inside of the pellet
that wasn t there when the owl had spit it out. This ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There would be major changes if the barn owl wasn t part of the food web. There would be many
more rodents and other pests in agricultural and forestry land, which would eventually become
overpopulated. God created a perfect world and if there was even one animal that wasn t part of an
ecosystem, there would be many species with overpopulation issues.
8.Bioconcentration is when tiny creatures capture chemicals from debris, which is a large source
of diseases, and water which are then devoured by large populations of zooplankton. Larger
organisms like my sides then eat the zooplankton, fish feed on the mysids, this continues until the
herring which is at the top of this food web. This can causes many diseases to spread over a period
of time from one creature to the next and possibly worsen. Bioaccumulation is when the matter of
an organism increases in concentration.
9.Owls can be seen as the most threatened of an ecosystem which is threatened by pesticides
because it is the highest trophic level in the food web. The higher the trophic level, the higher the
concentration of toxins in the species. There may be a tiny bit of pesticide in a plant which is
then eaten by a insect which is then eaten by a shrew. The shrew then gets more toxins, then
giving the owl which is at the top of the food web the most toxins causing it to become sick and
die. Overall, these pesticides in ecosystems can disturb food webs, ecosystems, and hurt

Africans a connection with those outside the continent, namely in Europe and Southeast Asia. It
also gave the opportunity for things other than goods to be exchanged like Islam. Africans adopted

The effects of the Trans Saharan trade are evident through looking at the currencies used in Western
Africa. Igbo Ukwu, in modern day Nigeria, shows that by the ninth century West Africawas not
isolated from the outside world, as for some its trading goods included over one hundred thousand
glass beads, mostly from Egypt and India. The Almoravids also exported gold coins to infiltrate
Europe s economy by accompanying its silver currency. During the height of Western African
empires, Africans had a lot of interaction with people outside the continent that they were both
influenced by and affected themselves.
East Africa after the sixteenth century had grown to be an international center where many
outsiders would come to trade. By the 1500s, East Africa was starting to become a thriving trading

The Controversy Of Celebrating Christmas
Holidays are overrated. They are days made up by large retailers to prompt you to spend more
money on items that you don t need. Think about it, how much money have you spent on all the
decorations and gifts in your lifetime? If all the holidays ceased to exist, people wouldn t have
to fret about working overtime just to save up for all of the Christmas gifts or if they have
enough money to buy dye for the eggs during Easter (Participial Phrase). Who needs a nine foot
tall pine tree in their living room? What family needs to eat a whole turkey in the matter of hours?
(Rhetorical Question) Celebrating the new year is pointless, the only thing that changes is the date,
everything else remains the same. Many years ago holidays had some sort of... Show more content

guests as they stay with you for a period of time. Or the stress of trying to determine how in the
world you are going to have enough money to purchase all of the gifts for your loved ones,
causing you to work more, decreasing your time to buy these gifts, all leading to even more
stress. There is enough stress in a person s life on a normal day. Adding all of the stress of these
pointless holidays can be eliminated if the holidays are eradicated. Without holidays we would
have more days to work, less family bonding and five day straight work weeks, every week of
the year. What more could a person ask for? Stress, made up characters, lost meanings, excessive
spending, are all valid reasons why holidays should be eliminated from the calendar and from our

Analysis Of The Secret Lives Of Sgt. John Wilson
Glory and Scandal , or in other words, Mary and John, two characters from the novel The Secret
Lives of Sgt. John Wilson who fall in love but eventually end their relationship on a tragic note.
Many events occurred through out the novel that caught my interest such as; the way they fell
madly in love, the transition into John becoming more of a ghost than a husband, then a more
twisted unforeseen plot that caught most readers entirely by surprise. The love affairs between the
characters in the novel, plus the twists and turns you experience while reading is the main
contributor as to why I love this book. Two polar opposites who started a life together, followed by
scandal and deceit, then ended in a most unspeakable way.
Mary Hutchinson was by far the most glorious and loving person through out the novel, and
loved by all that knew her, We all loved one another but somehow every one of us had a special
work with Polly. She was so bright and cheery and brave (Pg.7). She was a young seamstress
who lived a simple life, making an honest living and was very close to her loving family. She had
been pursued by her co worker the young Jack Wilson, who fall in love with her (or so she
thought), but it was normal for people to be attracted to her beautiful nature. After years of courting
they had finally gotten married and had children of their own, although the second would not be
born until the father I say vaguely had left the country. This once highly sought after woman would
now be left to care for two young children while her husband moved countries to find work (not to
mention flee embarrassment). This was the moment that would change her life for the worst, only
she hadn t known it yet.
Jack Wilson, a name that once had meaning, but is now said with resentment, he had every
opportunity to face his issues and make things right like any man should, especially whilst
having a child and another on the way, even the idea of leaving caused some unhappy feedback
Did you know he s thinking of running off to Canada? I d say good riddance if it wasn t for the
bairn and the one on the way. (Pg.10). A lot of men take the high rout in good faith that things will
change, but not Jack. Jack Wilson; like a dog with

The Restorative Term For Ringworm
Ringworm is an issue that could transpire at any age and time. It makes the influenced zone look
repulsive. Ringworm resembles a little fix on the skin, which has an aroused red ring. It spreads
towards outwards and develops. The region inside the ring is dark and inconsistent. The patch
steadily develops into a vast ring step by step, and consequently it is called ringworm. There are
risks that few times, a few patches would happen anyplace in the skin, particularly for the situation
where you get disease by taking care of a contaminated one.
Introduction:
Ringworm is fundamentally a contagious contamination that happens in the skin. The restorative
term for ringworm is Tinea . The condition is further named for the body s site where the

Making Inference
An Inference Defined
In order to knock the verbal section of your standardized test or even the reading portion of your
test in school right out of the ballpark, you need to know what an inference is, first. An inference is
an assumption made based on specific evidence. We make inferences all the time in real life. For
instance, your girlfriend might say to you, Nice hair, and you could make the inference that she is
being rude because she was smirking when she said it. In life, it s pretty easy to infer the implied
meaning the meaning not stated directly because you can use context clues like body ... Show more

You ll have to actually infer that you need to make an inference about the passage. Sneaky, huh?
Here are a few that require inferencing skills, but don t use those words exactly. * With which of
the following statements would the author most likely agree? * Which of the following sentences
would the author most likely use to add additional support to paragraph three?
Step 2: Trust the Passage
Now that you re certain you have an inference question on your hands, and you know exactly
what an inference is, you ll need to let go of your prejudices and prior knowledge and use the
passage to prove that the inference you select is the correct one. Inferences on a multiple choice
exam are different from those in real life. Out in the real world, if you make an educated guess,
your inference could still be incorrect. But on a multiple choice exam, your inference will be
correct because you ll use the details in the passage to prove it. You have to trust that the passage
offers you the truth in the setting of the test, and that one of the answer choices provided is correct
without stepping too far outside the realm of the passage.
Step 3: Hunt for Clues
Your third step is to start hunting for clues supporting details, vocabulary, character s actions,
descriptions, dialogue, and more to prove one of the inferences listed below the question. Take this
question, for example:
Based on the information in the

Essentially what Hebdige is saying with his statement is that eventually a subcultures generic
trademarks will cross over into the mainstream. This will in tern render the original intentions of
subversion diluted pastiches of there former representations.
The validity of this statement is interesting in two ways. Firstly are subcultures subversive qualities
diluted through popularisation? And secondly and perhaps more importantly in terms of more
contemporary subcultural representations; how valid is the statement that what might be
considered subcultures are actually subversive in terms of attempted displacement of a dominant
ideology.

But more than this was the relevant timing of the punk movement and subsequently, why it is so
important as an example within this discussion. The high unemployment rates and the economic
uncertainly present throughout Britain where largely to blame. As was the realisation that the
promised age of prosperity and utopia promised by the passing generation was never going to
come to the present one. As Polhemus puts it had Mclaren and Westwood not been around to toss
a few sticks of dynamite in the right direction an eruption would have occurred anyway (1993:90).
Punk saw itself as being in direct conflict with the established order it felt had betrayed a generation
as John Fisk highlights the main function of conflict sub cultural groups in his article The Popular
Economy
The power domain in within which popular culture works is largely, but not exclusively, that of
semiotic power. One major articulation of this power is the struggle between homogenisation and
difference, or between consensus and conflict (Quoted in Storey, 1994:511)

Case Study Of Franchising
Introduction Franchising is simply treated as for expanding a business and distributing goods and
services through a contract based relationship. In franchising, franchisors [whose business is

services that will be provided by the franchisees [a person or company who is given authority to
do business under the trademark and trade name by the franchisor], but also provide them with an
operating system, brand and support. Franchise is treated as a form of business that is more
popular during the present context. Its popularity has to do with its proven track record of success,...

Things that happened years ago have all changed to nowadays; either by a few changes but still
very similar or dramatically changed in a positive way.
Firstly, access to medical care. Years ago medical care in the 19th century was not very good.
The hospitals were very basic, many beds in a large room (ward) there were very rarely curtains
around the beds for privacy because in those days clothes were short and extra material would be
made into clothing. Also, they may not have been very clean, they were hygienic to work in but
for people that were very ill they may of made that person more poorly. Clinics were similar; they
had the basic bed to check patients on and the small amount of medicines. Not all the time did they
have the correct suitable medication for patients. So some patients may have had to suffer for
longer than what they should off because it was hard to get medication that was going to cure

The Determination To Obtain Vengeance In Hamlet And Ridley...
The Determination to Obtain Vengeance Depending on the perspective of a situation, revenge can
be ethical to someone, but it can also be immoral to someone else. In William Shakespeare s
Hamlet and Ridley Scott s Gladiator, the protagonists experience grief and are both driven to seek
revenge after the deaths of loved ones, which leads to their tragic downfall. Hamletand Maximus
are ambitious in avenging the murder of their family members as they obsessively want to execute
Claudius and Commodus. However, their strong desire causes them to delay obtaining vengeance
as they must be careful with the strategies they use since they could affect themselves. Both
characters are quick to believe the killer is someone that has done harm to them in the past eliciting
them to be enraged. King Hamlet s Ghost returns to the castle encountering Hamlet for the first time
as he reveals that Claudius, Denmark s new King and Hamlet s uncle, is his murderer and in
addition tells him that he must take revenge for his death. Hamlet without hesitation trusts what
the ghost is telling him, Now to my word. / It is Adieu, adieu, remember me. / I have sworn t
(Shakespeare 1.5.110 112). Hamlet s extreme melancholy causes him to make a promise as his
only loyalty is to his father and he is willing to sacrifice anything to achieve retaliation. This task
creates him to have a huge liability while still being in a miserable condition, which leads Hamlet
to think suicidal. Yet, along the way of

Twentysomthings Research Paper
In today s time the age for which men and women are getting married and having children has risen
to extreme highs and the numbers are still climbing. This occurrence affects a certain group known
as the twentysomthings of today s culture.
There has been many changes over the years in our culture on the viewing of getting married and
starting a family. One example of this is rather than people getting married they are cohabiting with
each other rather than committing themselves to marriage. One of the main reasons for this fact is
that many twentysomthings see this as a end to their freedom and that things are going to start
getting serious. But there are still people getting married but it at later times in their life.
For the age that men and women get married now is 29 while women its 27. Waiting longer to get

My Biggest Perspective Change
Have you ever been caught in a rush hour traffic moving at the speed of light? For a whole one
year during my CO OP I commuted to and fro Toronto on one of the busiest highway of North
America and it was no fun. I ve raced, tailgated, changed lanes without using indicators, ranted
and seethed at slow drivers and everything I could to save as little as five minutes to reach my
destination. And I considered myself a skillful driver at that time. Not knowing that the opposite
might also be true if I look at it from a different perspective. We usually tend to have a one sided
opinion about certain things until we experience the both sides of the story ourselves. This
phenomenon of naГЇve realism was well presented in the class along with different TEDTalk videos

The Scarlet Letter And The House Of Seven Gables
On July 4, 1805, while most people were celebrating Independence Day, one of the greatest
influential writers of the Dark Romanticism Era was born. Elizabeth Clark Hathorne and her
husband Nathaniel Hathorne Sr. gave birth to a baby boy. Little did they know, this little infant
would develop into one of America s most famous authors of all time. Most Americans are familiar
with his greatest works like The Scarlet Letter and The House of Seven Gables. Through the
influence of his past ancestors, his dark childhood, his college experience, and his fellow author
friends, Nathaniel Hathorne (Hawthorne) is one of the most renowned authors of the Romanticism
period which took place during the late 1800s.
Nathaniel Hathorne was born into the family of William Hathorne. William was one of the
magistrates who sentenced the Quaker women to death during the Salem Witch Trials He was
born into a family with a very strong Puritan heritage. As he grew up, he was ashamed to be
related to the Hathorne bloodline of William Hathorne. He was, as Hawthorne later characterized
him, a bitter persecutor of Quakers. In particular, was solely responsible for ordering the whipping
of Ann Coleman. Hawthorne refers to this ancestor as a persecutor of Quakers. Due to this, he
eventually changed his last name by adding a W to it. He did this in an attempt to conceal his
relation to William. His heritage affects him majorly throughout his entire life (Bloom 11;
Nathaniel Hawthorne Web).

The Social Factors Of Public Interest In Public...
Public interest refers to the social factors or influence decision making by administrators in public
administration. Public interest in public administration falls in four broad categories. Firstly is the
perfectionist point of view. Under this, public interest is viewed from the point of excellence
promotion in social activities. According to this view, public resources should be spent in a manner
that most of the society members benefit fully from. Herring, E. P. (1936). Public administrationand
the public interest.
Secondly is the intuitionist category. Under this category in case of conflicting situations, the
administration chooses an option by intuition. This is to say that an organization chooses an
intuitionist solution that seems the right course of action to be undertaken in given circumstances.
Herring, E. P. (1936). Public administration and the public interest. Another on is derived from the
theory of justice. This is as pronounced by the philosopher John Rawls. He suggests that two basic
principles of justice to be followed in testing public interest n public administration . Actually, one
of this is that every individual ought to have equal right to the most extensive basic liberty that is
compatible with another liberty for others. Finally, is the utilitarianism category. According to this
particular category public interest is served when a given public policy makes one a little better off
even though it may make some individuals somehow worse.

There is no other experience in history where innocent African Americans encountered such a
brutal torment. This infamous ordeal is called the Middle Passage or the middle leg of the
Triangular Trade, which was the forceful voyage of African Americans from Africa to the New
World. The Africans were taken from their homeland, boarded onto the dreadful ships, and
scattered into the New World as slaves. 10 16 million Africans were shipped across the Atlantic
during the 1500 s to the 1900 s and 10 15 percent of them died during the voyage. Millions of

Alexander Falconbridge writes that a woman was dejected from the moment she came on board,
and refused both food and medicine; being asked by the interpreter what she wanted, she replied
nothing but to die , and she did die (Howarth). The enslaved Africans did not want to go through
the anguish and would rather have committed suicide or starve themselves to death. They were
physically beaten and were under great emotional pain from being torn from their families ( The
Wreck of the Henrietta Marie ). This floating prison transported the exhausted Africans under
excruciating surroundings. The ships were regular vessels updated and restructured to carry
human cargo. They were mostly 50 125 feet long and 8 to 15 feet wide, averaging 100 to 300
ton. The larger ships held about five hundred slaves, while the smaller ones transported less than
one hundred. During the concluding years of the slave trade, the large ships were able to carry
more than a thousand slaves. They were crammed like loaves of bread on a shelf with only six
or seven square feet for their bodies to lie down (Postma 23). The men were fettered two by two
and firmly confined to prevent potential rebellion. The women and children had more space to
move only because they were not strong enough to break the chains. The majority of the women
were forced to help with onboard chores and in the preparation of food. Many of the slave ships

Diversity in Three Voices
Diversity in Three Voices Scientist When working with individuals from different cultures,
individuals informally learn the differences that exist between them and their respective cultures
(DeCenzo Silhanek, 2001, p. 29). Often the word diversity is confused with political correctness
or human equality but it is the understanding of differences between people and how they interact.
Diversity is defined as the quality of being different but composed of distinct elements or qualities
(Parvis, 2005, p. 15). Throughout history the United States has been known as the melting pot, but
this concept was a perception not a reality because the melting pot ended up benefiting only white,
prominent settlers. Looking at diversity is observing differences and there are a lot of them. For
example, male versus female, religion versus no religion, homosexual versus heterosexual, foreign
or domestic, republican versus democrat, Caucasian versus African American, Mexican versus
Latino, Cherokee Indian versus Choctaw Indian, poor versus rich; and differences could
encompass several more pages. We can deny that differences exist or we can consent to differences
while discovering from others the assets of dissimilarity. People must learn, therefore, to recognize
differences in others their backgrounds, customs, and work schedules and appreciate, even

On the Other End of the Line
On the other end of the line was released October 31st 2008. It was directed by James Dobson
and written by Tracey Jackson. James and Tracey have been in the movie business for a long
time and they have other projects that were very successful. Tracey is known for the movie
confessions of a shopaholic. It did not receive high ratings in the US however it was released in
so many other countries such as: Singapore, Bahrain, Italy, Argentina, Netherlands Germany,
Mexico, and South Korea. The movie is a romantic comedic, chick flick . However I believe the
movie has a lot to offer in terms of culture difference, marriage, and gender between India and The
United States.
The movie stars Jesse Metcalfe as Granger and Shriya Saran as Priya, the credit card girl working at
Citi banks call center. Priya resides in Mumbai with her family and she is twenty two. She works
for City banks call center with her best friend. Her family is not very wealthy but they do work
hard. Her father sells insurance and her mother is a stay at home mom. She has a younger brother.
Her job requires her to work over night to accommodate the time difference between America and
India. This issue forces her and her family to not spend too much time as a family according to her
father.
On the other side Granger is a New Yorker in advertising. He just got a deal to work with Hulkon
International Hotels. However him and his partner do not satisfy Mr. hulk with their new idea for a

The Importance Of Human Relationship For Both Kai And Tamili
1)The duty to protect the well being of Kai versus importance of human relationship for both Kai
and Tamili. I chose this as the ethical problem because it seems as though Kai could use some
help with her well being. She has a lot on her plate with being in a strong recovery from bi polar (I)
disorder, her husband being deployed for the four time to Iraq, she has had suicidal ideationtwo
within the past month, trying to take on a new job as a principal, and in sessions she becomes
stressed very easily and shuts down. I ve noticed when Kai gets stressed in family session Tamili
will get very angry. Kai being stressed could be causing Tamili to act out in school and receive
bad grades. This is why I chose the importance of human relationship as the other problem. Kai
and Tamili have bonded very well but with Kai being so stressed lately it could be affect Tamili s
performances at school. Tamili has been bulling others at school, has low grades, and is being very
disrespectful to her teachers.
2)a. I would want to ask Kai s close friends and family how she is currently handling life. With
her fiancГ© being deployed, with the possibly of become a school principle and Tamili not
preforming well in school. Asking the person who is mentoring Kai for the school principal
position how Kai seems to take on the workload. Is Kai stressed when more work is given to her,
does she take on any work troth at her to distract her from other things. I would then want to ask
Kai how Tamili is

Reality Tv Social Aspects

Media and Society
Paper 1
Social Aspect of Television
Socialization is a fundamental aspect in the life of relatively every human. In the absence of having
the ability or strength to interact socially, we tend to steer away from social norms and isolate
ourselves. One may consider that watching television correlates with the effects of anti
socialization although, one may argue that is not the case. Television is a form of socialization
that provides common ground for people to bond over, allows those lacking a social life to create
their own social word, and provides an environment for conversation.
Taking a look at our society today, television is a dominant way in which humans bond and
interact with one another. According to Susan J. Douglas, Reality TV came to replace, in
particular, the lineup of TV news magazines that had dominated various network schedules in the
1990s. (p. 632). Having a wider array of reality television gives viewers an immense relationship or
connection with the characters. Douglas then states, ...The structure of the show invites us to
empathize with them, judge them, or both. (p. 633). In this specific quote Douglas is referring to
them as the characters in the reality television shows. Considering we empathize or judge these
characters, it gives us a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A countless amount of individuals in today s society lack social skills and socialization in their
lives. Television allows these individuals a chance at creating their own social worlds. Many
individuals become emotionally attached to characters in specific television shows or series and
start to produce their own friendships and relationships with the characters. As individuals create
imaginary interconnections with characters, they imagine that they obtain legitimate relationships
in their lives. Thus making them feel as if they have a real social

Open Letters Editor Chapter Summary
In this article, Eaton expresses his personal opinion about the memoir, suggesting that the memoir
s major flaw is its tendency to act as an inspiration for readers and, simultaneously, provide
Christian guidelines to readers way too often. Throughout the review, Eaton points out all the
flaws about this memoir to support his argument, such as how Brees does not allow the reader to
analyze his memoir by explicitly stating his main points at the end of every paragraph. Written by
Jeffrey Eaton, an Open Letters editor, this source is reliable because the magazine speciality is to
critique many works of art and literature. Rather than merely summarizing the main events of the
memoir, Eaton actually expresses his dislike about it by providing... Show more content on

Eaton argues, in depth, how the memoir is not very effective in inspiring readers since they,
according to Eaton, cannot take the memoir seriously. In order to convey his point of view, he
uses many methods to do so, such as providing truthful facts, using quotes as evidence, and
choosing a particular writing style for his review. According to Rachel Whittaker, Drew Brees
defines what adversity is and its powerful influence. In her article, she summarizes all the
setbacks the athlete had to go through in both his career and personal life, which helped him
become stronger. For example, mentioning how Brees shoulder injury lead him to the New
Orleans Saints and winning the Super Bowl, about rebuilding New Orleans after Hurricane
Katrina, and discussing his mother s suicide. By providing Brees insight on these setbacks and
quotes about faith, Whittaker depicts Brees as the ideal Christian role model Being a general
assignment sports reporter for New Orleans, Whittaker is qualified in the subject of Brees memoir.
Because she is, this source is reliable. By providing verifiable details from the memoir and Brees
quotes from, seemingly, an interview, she effectively depicts the quarterback as someone who

Fetus Brain Development
Due to modern medicine, there are many ways that pregnant women can now see how their fetus
is growing inside them. The woman s egg travels down the fallopian tube entering the uterus. It is
fertilized by the sperm and its home for the next nine months. There is a long process before the
baby arrives into the mother s arms. This is the beginning of conception and the development of the
baby.
The first trimester begins with the conception that leads to the sperm reaching to the egg within a
day. The fertilized egg is to await in the uteruswall where the placenta also starts to form. Web MD

Drown, By Junot Diaz
I usually make a fortune on Saturdays, selling to those kids going down to Belmar or out to
Spruce Run. (Drown). The narrator, Yunior, in the story Drown by Junot Diaz is a drug dealer
and does not want anyone to recognize him so that he may uphold a positive image. Unlike
Yunior in Drown the narrator in the poem What Work Is by Philip Levine depicts the struggles
men and women face when trying to obtain honest work. We stand in the rain in a long line
waiting at Ford Highland Park, for work (What Work Is). The two literary works both suggest one

He appears to resent his father for the way he treats his mother, yet still wants a relationship with
him. He is self aware and witnesses the struggles that people like him go through every day in
their lives of poverty and drug abuse. The neighborhood shapes the life of Yunior, so it plays an
important role in the story. Most of the anxiety is caused by the fact that he cannot leave his
neighborhood, because of possible fears of the outcome once he is in the outside world. The
pool is another great setting as it is described in a way that is like the neighborhood where the
Yunior lives, The water feels good... while everything above me is loud and bright, everything
below is whispers... this quote coincides with the fact that the Yunior is trapped, but he d rather
stay below than come up and see the outcome of him leaving for the outside world like Beto. The
author titled the work Drown to refer to Yunior as drowning in his life without a career or future.
At times, one can wonder what drives a person not to want more from life. Yunior is an
unmotivated young man, who appears to not have much going for him. He does not have people
who encourage him to work hard, or do something better with his life. The people he surrounds
himself with are not of good influence on him. Me and Beto used to steal like mad from these
places, two, three hundred dollars of shit in an outing. (Drown). Only knowing a life of wrong
doings.

One of the first arguments by the defense was that the bodies of Nicole Brown Simpson and
Ronald Goldman weren t examined promptly, and the autopsy could only put the only time of
death somewhere between 9p.m. and midnight (Mueller, 1996). The defense also tried to elicit
testimony initiative of police bungling and mishandling of evidence. This lead to the argument
that Detective Mark Fuhrman placed the glove at the crime scene that was used as evidence
against O.J. Simpson (Mueller, 1996). There were tapes of Fuhrman that were released during the
investigation. On the tapes Fuhrman was caught on tapes using the n word 41 times exactly.
(Rice, 1997) The tapes that were released of Mark Fuhrman demonstrated that he was a liar, racist,
and a possible exception of the bloody gloves not fitting (p.90). Everyone knows that the gloves
found at the crime scene indeed did not fit when O.J. Simpson tried them on in front of the

The European Colonization Of Africa
The European colonization of Africa, also known as the Scramble for Africa, Partition of Africa,
or Conquest of Africa, occurred between the 1870s and 1900s, and was the invasion, occupation,
colonization, and annexation of African territory by European powers during a period of New
Imperialism. European control of the continent increased from 10 percent (1870) to 90 percent
(1914), with only three territories, Saguia el Hamra, which was later integrated into Spanish Sahara,
Ethiopia and Liberia remaining independent of Europe s control. There were many reasons for the
European colonization of Africa, including economic and political motives, with the Berlin
Conference serving as a catalyst. Africans resisted the European invasions of their lands, with the
two main methods of opposition were guerilla warfare and direct military engagement. European
influence on Africa still remains today, though these influences are generally negative and hurt
Africa s overall development. The imperatives of capitalist industrialization, including the call for
guaranteed sources of raw materials, especially copper, cotton, rubber, tea, and tin (European
consumers had become accustomed to, and thus depended on these resources), and the search for
guaranteed markets and profitable investment outlets, which territories like the gold and diamond
rich Egypt and South Africa provided, caused the European conquest for Africa. Therefore the
primary reason for European colonization in Africa was

Violation of Human Rights
What are human rights? When asked this question, many people would list 2 to 3 basic rights, the
ones you learn in school basically, like the right to speak freely, to eat, to have a proper education...
But that is not even half of the human rights. In the early ages, they were no human rights to abide
by. Every country or culture had its own regulations and rules. However, in the beginning of World
War II (What are human rightspar1), an idea emerged entitled freedom . With it came out a
document that changed the world The Universal Declaration of Human rights. That document
contained 30 rights to which all people were entitled to, therefore to live with dignity and respect
in their world (Maiese par1). However, along with those rights came their violations. Throughout
the years, we can really notice the crimes done against humanities which included the genocides,
the torture, the rape... (Maiese par1). What the most common violations? Who are the most
common victims? A person has the right to be protected from any types of intrusions into their
private life, in other words, they have the right to be left alone (Parikh 1). These rights are violated
when phone tapping or wiretapping are performed. Undoubtedly, we cannot look pass the benefits
of these operations. They helped investigators in solving crimes and giving hard evidence in court.
However, this interception of communication is heating up the debate all around the world. (Djafar

The role of an economy is to effectively make use of a countries resources, thus increasing economic

wealth gives an indication of its living standards, with an increase in wealth it is probable that the
living standards will also increase simultaneously. Although the entirety of the concept of improving

A Life Changing Day On My Life
I have been through a lot of events that have impacted my life dramatically. Something that
happened last August changed my outlook on a lot of things. August 10, 2016 was a life
changing day. This day started an event that made me appreciate life more, and taught me that
even the smallest thing could be a big difference in any outcome. August 10, 2016 was a life
changing day. This day was when I found out that my family needed to pack our cars with things
such as; clothes, personal items, and other accessories to move to a more safe area. Around nine O
clock a.m. was when we got the news that we needed to evacuate the area. We knew that this flood
was gonna be nothing to joke about, so we packed our things fairly quickly and made the decision
to drive to a friends house. Later that day, we showed up to their house with the idea that it was
not going to flood the area. The next morning, I woke up to my parents telling me that our house
has just been flooded and had gotten around two feet inside the house and I knew that we would
not be back in our home for a very long time. Next, everyone in the house was told that we needed
to sandbag the house because the flood might reach the inside and of course we would help,
considering that they took us in. After all, their neighbors and family members started grabbing
bags and filling them with sand to stack in front of the house. Throughout all of the hard work and
sweat, we soon came to find out that it was all for nothing. Not

  • 3. Greek God Of War Research Paper Ares: god of war Ares is the god of war, the son of the great god Zeus, the god of lighting and the sky and Hera, the goddess of marriage and family, but in some legends Ares and his twin sister Eris, goddess of discord was born when Hera touched a flower ( Ares ). Similar to many other gods and goddesses Ares was big and powerful. Ares did not rule over anything but was the symbol of war. The reason that he probably did not have a domain over anything was because he was just the god of war not the sky and lightning like Zeus. Ares was his Greek name and Mars was his Roman name. Mars and Ares were two different people and the Romans liked Ares more than the Greeks did. I don t know why but there was a different name for the greek and roman god Ares. Mars was originally a fertility god, associated with spring and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Ares did have some love affairs with Aphrodite though. Ares also had a daughter and had a few son who became kings, warriors, and even a bandit. It does not mention anything about his son and does not even say how many he had. Even though Ares was a good warrior he had been defeated before by Athena, his half sister who beat him twice, another when one of Gigantic sons of Aloeus, and also when when Hercules sent him running back to mountain Olympus for his own safety(Pontikis). Even though it may be hard to believe Ares was not the best fighter in mythology. Some interesting facts about him is that his animal is a dog and his bird is a vulture. The reason why is because the vultures were the ones that feed on the dead bodies left on the battlefield and were seen as sacred birds and dogs were sacrificed right before battle at his temples for good luck in battle( Ares ). That is something that many people could probably expect from Ares though. Ares was also involved in the trojan war and it was one thousand years before Christ. He was a good fighter so of course he would want to fight in any war or battle that he ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Understanding Teens Who Self Injure Essay Understanding Teens Who Self Injure Imagine being sixteen years old and taking a razor to your arm because you feel so much pain inside that cutting is the only way to escape it. For a lot of people this idea seems strange and incomprehensible, but for many teenagers this is their reality. In a society with so much abuse, neglect and crime children are facing things that they never had to face in the past. Adolescents who are lacking more positive coping skills are turning to self injurious behaviors to ease their pain and frustration. In recent years the issue of self injurious behaviors or SIB (White Kress, 2003) has increased in popularity. The general public is starting to take a special interest in the issue as more... (Pederson, as quoted in Zila Kiselica, 2001). SIB includes a wide range of behaviors including head banging, hair pulling, skin cutting, self hitting, and skin burning. SIB is typically found in early adolescence but can become a chronic behavior that carries on into adulthood. Most research focuses on females who self injure because it is found that, while males do self injure many more females do it. We also need to take into consideration that females tend to be more help seeking than males; so many more males may be self injuring than we know. Zila and Kiselica define the typical self mutilator as female, adolescent or young adult, single, usually from upper middle class family and intelligent. It is found that one in four teenage girls cut (Barnard, 2004). SIB can be classified into four categories: Stereotypic SIB, Major SIB, Compulsive SIB and Impulsive SIB (White Kress, 2003). Each of the four categories corresponds with and tends to be more prevalent with various DSM IV mental disorders. The following will describe each of the four categories in detail. Stereotypic SIB The kind of behaviors that can be classified under Stereotypic SIB include head banging, self hitting and slapping, self biting, and hair pulling. These kind of ... As public events continue to rise and the demands for spontaneous, strategic, and creative solutions are sought after effortlessly, society is faced with the need to revisit how to successfully manage a diverse workforce. Gary Hamel (2011) spoke on the essence of: the reinvention of management techniques which, challenged managers to rethink how they perform operational functions; in order to, create a solid structure within the current market. Additionally, his [Hamel] presentation broke the seal on stagnate managers and a need to reinvent themselves. Often in many organizational cultures there lays very rigid, traditional and obsolete practices which struggles to remain existent. Organizations are now flooded with multigenerational groups; where baby boomers sought to develop their succession plan exit; now baby boomer are forecasted to have an large representation within the future workforce alongside generation X and Y s. In the past, managers were more seasoned, traditional in administration processes and managed a younger workforce. Due to the current market shift [and potentially the future], managers are comprised of recent college graduates, ingenuities on developments, and overseers of both seasoned and youthful employees. The idea of managing the future workforce will require nuggets given by Gary Hamal (2011): (1) Challenge the change which is currently changing, (2) construct innovations that involves everyone, and (3) manage the diversified commodity of knowledge effectively. Assuming We All Are Familiar b)Solid State Drive (SSD) Assuming we all are familiar with USB memory stick, an SSD is can be considered as an oversized and more complicated version of the USB stick. Unlike the HDDs, there are no moving parts in the SSDs. Thus, it stores data in microchips and is faster than the HDDs. The choice of which of the two is the better depends on the buyer s needs and preference. The price of SSDs is comparatively higher so as its performances relatively faster than HDDs [5]. Thus, if the buyer is more concern for better performance and not so concern about the price, he or she can go for SSD rather than HDD. This is the most important section of the document and it deals with the assembling, configuration, and installation the PC components. Even though this task cannot be detailed in a short document of this length, I will try my best to summarize the process in a simplest possible manner. The assembling of the software components of PC can easily be done by using some of the available online resources. Therefore, I have intentionally excluded those steps to shorten the document. The users of this guide are urged to refer available online videos for additional references concerning this subject and any other information they might need. Customization of a PC can be done just by replacing a single component or multiple components. Whether the customizing is for improving the performance or for replacing a broken component, making a mindset for customizing comes in first place. Users are required to buy desired component/components following the guidelines provided in the earlier section of this guide. Since, customizing requires the installation of one or more components based on the user s preference and necessities, I am giving brief guidelines for installing the system unit followed by its ... • 7. Women In Athens Research Paper The great city state of Athens was established around 3000 B.CВ№ and was named after the Greek goddess of wisdom and military victory, Athena. The Athenian empire lasted until its defeat in the Peloponnesian war in 404 B.CВІ, but despite its defeat Athens is still the capital of modern day Greece. • 8. Physics Of Running The Physics Of Running Mokhtar Miguil 10A Running is a sport that is very much connected to physics. Scientists have done many significant research in the past on the physics of running, and I will try to discuss some of the main aspects of it here. There are are many forces acting upon a runner when he/she is pushing off the ground with one foot. The force Fx is the horizontal force due to the contact between the runner s foot and the ground, and the force Fy is the vertical force due to the contact between the runner s foot and the ground. The force Fg is the force due to gravity which pulls down on the runner. This force acts through the center of mass of the runner, represented by the purple dot. During a run the force Fy is greater than Fg in order to lift the runner off the ground as he runs. An Olympic sprinter can push off the ground with a total peak force of more than 1000 pounds (with a time averaged Fx equal to about 200 pounds, which is less than the peak Fx). In contrast, the average person can apply 500 600 pounds of total peak force. Reference: http:/ /www.thepostgame.com/features/201107/usain bolt case study science sprinting ... These shows display the actions and job descriptions of forensic anthropologists, however, due to time requirements and for the interest of the plot, there are many aspects that are not preformed or done so inaccurately. Specifically, these inaccuracies mainly fall into two overall processes, recovery and laboratory analysis. In season six episode ten of Bones, the FBI and the scientists from the Jeffersonian Institute investigate a murder of set of remains found in a hot, running shower. For the most part, these remains are fleshed, with the exception of hair and small bone fragments that were flushed down the drain. An important mistake made by the team was incorrectly collecting... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Temperance Brennan s initial analysis of the remains at the scene, she made the conclusion that the victim was female and in her mid twenties. Although the information is accurate, her statement was premature. When identifying the age and sex portion of the biological profile, Forensic Anthropologists often look at multiple indicators before making a decision. This is due to the range in features the bones can display. For example, a 90В° angle of the mandible is a trait congruent in males, however it is not exclusive. Different parts of the skeleton also display a range of indicators in regard to the age of the individual. Age is measured by the amount of growth or degeneration the remains have experienced. Usually, degeneration correlates with older age, however the nutrition and habits of the individual can speed up the process. For example, a young but fully developed female runner may not show much signs of degeneration in her upper extremities as she does on her lower extremities, specifically her knee joints. If anthropologists were to look only at the individual s knees, they would most likely estimate a much older age. In order for Dr. Brennan to accurate, the skeleton should have been further evaluated to conclusively state the sex and age of the biological ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 10. Advantages And Disadvantages Of Led Lights Everything in this world comes with its benefits and disadvantages. With this, here are some of the advantages and disadvantages of the LED street lights. Advantages of the LED street lights include the following 1.Lower consumption of energy Most of the LED lighting retrofits are said to dramatically reduce the energy used. However, in the actual facts, studies have shown that lower energy consumption is tied and limited to reduced levels of illumination. 2.Has predictable and long lifetime The lifespan of the LED street lights is between 10 to 15 years. This lifespan in 2 to 4 times the lifespan of the current prevalent HPS. The LED products do not fail like the other light sources or barring catastrophic failure of the other electronic or mechanical components of the LED fixtures. The lifetime of a product is typically set by decreasing luminous output by 30 percent. However, the functional lifespan of any LED fixture is usually limited by the weakest link. The one thing you need to know about horses, says Jim Stitt, is they love to work and perform. (Fong, Petty. It Was Urban Vs Cowboys in Fight for Animal Rights.) The horse has been used all throughout history from the Spanish Conquistadors to the Englishman during the American Revolution. Now horses can be found on race tracks, rodeos, shows, large and small farms, and slaughter homes. Even though some horse owners claim abuse is nothing more than discipline, and horse meat is high in protein, low in fat, and helps slaughter homes gain bigger profits and investment from overseas companies, horse abuse and slaughter should not be taken lightly because it is inhumane to abuse a horse to the brink of death and claim it is discipline, most slaughter homes are in insalubrious conditions and environments, and most horse abuse is done inside slaughter homes. Discipline is no longer discipline when the horse is at the brink of death. The type of abuse depends on the activities the horses do. Abuse and Discipline are two different things. One is not followed by the other. Discipline is used to correct and train a horse to not make the same mistake over again. Abuse is used to torment and torture the horse for no reason until the horse is dead. That quality that we love is also a quality that allows people to abuse them... They ... The Undivided Declaration of Rowland High School, When in the course of human events, it becomes imperative to shake off the bands of repeated name callings and falsely given identities which have been connected for so long, and to assume that the playing field is once again even, giving your undivided attention and respect to the opinions of the unheard and abandoned as they state why they have decided to stand up against the bullying and how they plan to write how to isolate themselves from bullying altogether. We hold these truths to be axiomatic: that all students, no matter their background, ethnicity, or rank, are created equal in status and in identity; no student is higher than the other. Each student is equipped with secure and unalienable Rights; that among these rights are Respect, Rightful Identity, and Freedom of Speech. We also believe that rules are formed to protect these certain rights and that the power of these rules comes from the power of the students; whenever any part of the rule fails to protect these rights, it is the right of the students to change it and to form a new rule that follows such principles which organizes its powers to end in Security and Happiness. However, with the rising costs, it s seeming like fewer people are willing or able to take the next step into higher education. Cries about the sheer insanity of the rising costsblur into a cacophony of anger and frustration. The discussion of whether it s even worth the costhave also begun becoming popular, though this is its own discussion and shall not be explored here. Perhaps this is because their costs do not react as fast to market forces as does the private sector. Prices are normally set, and then remain relatively stable regardless of the day to day changes in the market. A private business can, and will, change its prices in order to maintain an equilibrium of supply and demand. During a recession, this means lowering prices in order to combat the lowering demand for their products. Colleges and Universities on the other hand react differently to a recession. They raise their prices to combat budget cuts from the State and Federal levels. They still have their costs for teaching their students, and these costs do not normally change as quickly as the overall CPI. This would lead to the belief that college prices would fall again at the end of a recession, but colleges and universities are always hesitant to lower tuition. Coupled with the slower reaction time of colleges from market forces, the price stays at its elevated level far into the economic recovery. It would seem that the Economics 101 story around higher education for the past few decades would go something like this: for various reasons, government has decided to increase demand for higher education massively, via increased subsidies, and in particular student loans; meanwhile, supply has not kept up. Many events occurred through out the novel that caught my interest such as; the way they fell madly in love, the transition into John becoming more of a ghost than a husband, then a more twisted unforeseen plot that caught most readers entirely by surprise. The love affairs between the characters in the novel, plus the twists and turns you experience while reading is the main contributor as to why I love this book. Two polar opposites who started a life together, followed by scandal and deceit, then ended in a most unspeakable way. Mary Hutchinson was by far the most glorious and loving person through out the novel, and loved by all that knew her, We all loved one another but somehow every one of us had a special work with Polly. She was so bright and cheery and brave (Pg.7). She was a young seamstress who lived a simple life, making an honest living and was very close to her loving family. She had been pursued by her co worker the young Jack Wilson, who fall in love with her (or so she thought), but it was normal for people to be attracted to her beautiful nature. One of the main reasons for this fact is that many twentysomthings see this as a end to their freedom and that things are going to start getting serious. • 31. My Biggest Perspective Change Have you ever been caught in a rush hour traffic moving at the speed of light? For a whole one year during my CO OP I commuted to and fro Toronto on one of the busiest highway of North America and it was no fun. I ve raced, tailgated, changed lanes without using indicators, ranted and seethed at slow drivers and everything I could to save as little as five minutes to reach my destination. And I considered myself a skillful driver at that time. Not knowing that the opposite might also be true if I look at it from a different perspective. We usually tend to have a one sided opinion about certain things until we experience the both sides of the story ourselves. This phenomenon of naГЇve realism was well presented in the class along with different TEDTalk videos to support the argument among which the most prominent and thought provoking was the talk on Believing Strange Things by Micheal Shermer. Controversial topics have always sparked my interest and regardless of what opinion I have about them, it gets my full attention. The Scarlet Letter And The House Of Seven Gables On July 4, 1805, while most people were celebrating Independence Day, one of the greatest influential writers of the Dark Romanticism Era was born. Elizabeth Clark Hathorne and her husband Nathaniel Hathorne Sr. gave birth to a baby boy. Little did they know, this little infant would develop into one of America s most famous authors of all time. Most Americans are familiar with his greatest works like The Scarlet Letter and The House of Seven Gables. Through the influence of his past ancestors, his dark childhood, his college experience, and his fellow author friends, Nathaniel Hathorne (Hawthorne) is one of the most renowned authors of the Romanticism period which took place during the late 1800s. Nathaniel Hathorne was born into the family of William Hathorne. William was one of the magistrates who sentenced the Quaker women to death during the Salem Witch Trials He was born into a family with a very strong Puritan heritage. As he grew up, he was ashamed to be related to the Hathorne bloodline of William Hathorne. He was, as Hawthorne later characterized him, a bitter persecutor of Quakers. In particular, was solely responsible for ordering the whipping of Ann Coleman. Hawthorne refers to this ancestor as a persecutor of Quakers. Due to this, he eventually changed his last name by adding a W to it. He did this in an attempt to conceal his relation to William. His heritage affects him majorly throughout his entire life (Bloom 11; Nathaniel Hawthorne Web). Nathaniel ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Public interest in public administration falls in four broad categories. Firstly is the perfectionist point of view. Under this, public interest is viewed from the point of excellence promotion in social activities. According to this view, public resources should be spent in a manner that most of the society members benefit fully from. Herring, E. P. (1936). Public administrationand the public interest. Secondly is the intuitionist category. Under this category in case of conflicting situations, the administration chooses an option by intuition. This is to say that an organization chooses an intuitionist solution that seems the right course of action to be undertaken in given circumstances. Herring, E. P. (1936). Public administration and the public interest. Another on is derived from the theory of justice. This is as pronounced by the philosopher John Rawls. The Africans were taken from their homeland, boarded onto the dreadful ships, and scattered into the New World as slaves. 10 16 million Africans were shipped across the Atlantic during the 1500 s to the 1900 s and 10 15 percent of them died during the voyage. They were physically beaten and were under great emotional pain from being torn from their families ( The Wreck of the Henrietta Marie ). This floating prison transported the exhausted Africans under excruciating surroundings. The ships were regular vessels updated and restructured to carry human cargo. They were mostly 50 125 feet long and 8 to 15 feet wide, averaging 100 to 300 ton. The larger ships held about five hundred slaves, while the smaller ones transported less than one hundred. During the concluding years of the slave trade, the large ships were able to carry more than a thousand slaves. They were crammed like loaves of bread on a shelf with only six or seven square feet for their bodies to lie down (Postma 23). The men were fettered two by two and firmly confined to prevent potential rebellion. The women and children had more space to move only because they were not strong enough to break the chains. • 38. Diversity in Three Voices Diversity in Three Voices Scientist When working with individuals from different cultures, individuals informally learn the differences that exist between them and their respective cultures (DeCenzo Silhanek, 2001, p. 29). Often the word diversity is confused with political correctness or human equality but it is the understanding of differences between people and how they interact. Diversity is defined as the quality of being different but composed of distinct elements or qualities (Parvis, 2005, p. 15). Throughout history the United States has been known as the melting pot, but this concept was a perception not a reality because the melting pot ended up benefiting only white, prominent settlers. Looking at diversity is observing differences and there are a lot of them. For example, male versus female, religion versus no religion, homosexual versus heterosexual, foreign or domestic, republican versus democrat, Caucasian versus African American, Mexican versus Latino, Cherokee Indian versus Choctaw Indian, poor versus rich; and differences could encompass several more pages. We can deny that differences exist or we can consent to differences while discovering from others the assets of dissimilarity. People must learn, therefore, to recognize differences in others their backgrounds, customs, and work schedules and appreciate, even celebrate, those differences (DeCenzo Silhanek, 2001, p. 29). In the absence of having the ability or strength to interact socially, we tend to steer away from social norms and isolate ourselves. One may consider that watching television correlates with the effects of anti socialization although, one may argue that is not the case. Television is a form of socialization that provides common ground for people to bond over, allows those lacking a social life to create their own social word, and provides an environment for conversation. Taking a look at our society today, television is a dominant way in which humans bond and interact with one another. According to Susan J. Douglas, Reality TV came to replace, in particular, the lineup of TV news magazines that had dominated various network schedules in the 1990s. (p. 632). Having a wider array of reality television gives viewers an immense relationship or connection with the characters. The European Colonization Of Africa The European colonization of Africa, also known as the Scramble for Africa, Partition of Africa, or Conquest of Africa, occurred between the 1870s and 1900s, and was the invasion, occupation, colonization, and annexation of African territory by European powers during a period of New Imperialism. European control of the continent increased from 10 percent (1870) to 90 percent (1914), with only three territories, Saguia el Hamra, which was later integrated into Spanish Sahara, Ethiopia and Liberia remaining independent of Europe s control. There were many reasons for the European colonization of Africa, including economic and political motives, with the Berlin Conference serving as a catalyst. Africans resisted the European invasions of their lands, with the two main methods of opposition were guerilla warfare and direct military engagement. European influence on Africa still remains today, though these influences are generally negative and hurt Africa s overall development. The imperatives of capitalist industrialization, including the call for guaranteed sources of raw materials, especially copper, cotton, rubber, tea, and tin (European consumers had become accustomed to, and thus depended on these resources), and the search for guaranteed markets and profitable investment outlets, which territories like the gold and diamond rich Egypt and South Africa provided, caused the European conquest for Africa.
